  1. Hi,

Moving the gate pillar is part of my current reconstruct. This is a real headache because normally the PUB meter is inside the pillar. Anyway, you will need to have to submit for special approvals and I did this through my architect and this process takes the longest time.

The rules are setback from the road and pavement and drains, and also your neighbour pillar and boundary. If everything ok, then start work and when done, you will need to get the relevant authorities to certify. For mine, these were LTA, NEA and PUB, and I was told that this period of certification can take 6 to 9 months because the 3 groups are not necessarily coordinated and have different requirements, and all 3 will not come together to certify as they are independent bodies.

In fact, I was told by my architect of all the troublesome matters in any A&A or reconstruct, the widening of the main gate is the top of the list.

Please note the above applies to my experience only. It may be different from others and I am not an architect or engineer.

    Hi xienqi

Thank you very much for your kind reply..

Spoken to a few people and found out that actually it should take only 2-3months for all.. But, as my previous main con screwed up the whole project, we decided to abandon the moving of the gate..

  2. Am undergoing quite major renovation at my new place..

Have ordered quite a good amount of tiles from Soon Bee Huat..

On both occasions, we have been so stressed by their inadequate and lousy service standard.

They called us to say they would be delivering the tiles on this day, and promised to email us the invoice for us to check n get ready payment. Both occasions, they claimed that their email was down thus could not email.

Both occasions, they refused to allow us to send the cheque, must cheque/cash on delivery.

Their service staff was extremely stupid and unreasonable. Demanded that we travel down to their Tuas or Changi office to make payment first.

Cant believe how such company survive until now..

  3. Most gate pillars have the meter compartment on one side. If your design is as such.. it will be costly to relocate. What exactly is the problem?

We would like to widen the gate so 2 cars can park inside as we realized our new neighbors have too many cars parked outside their houses... Yes, the pillar has all these meters.. Just wondering if anybody has moved the pillar before or any new solutions ?

    Thanks !

  6. Hi all...

Been through few renos and seen various contractors... Unfortunately have not found one who is really good and cheap...

On the Soft Close.. Must have for me...

But, sometimes some hinges may wear off or break down faster than the rest.. Not his fault, it's the system... Just make sure whoever fixes it for you would come back 6 months or a year later to put in a new piece or repair it...
