  1. Hi everyone,

Some updates. been a week plus since last update, again no pic, apologies.

Today, start lights installation, kitchen cabinet installation and solid top measurement.

Tmr, painting again for another coat.

By end of this week to early next week should have all things done except for hall cabinet and hifi console.

Then the week after next will be blinds and my bedroom wardrobe and bed.

Then its all done...and following that will be waiting for my purchases to deliver.

    Cheers

  2. I am currently planning to upgrade my audio system along with renovated flat.

Speakers: Sonus Faber Domus series, except sub as I have one quite ok one already. So it will be Grand piano as front, center and wall domus.

    AV AMP: Onkyo TX-NR905

    DVD, use exsiting Sony DVPNS9100ES

    Sterao Amp: Musical Fidelity A5

Speaker cable, surround is Monster, can;t remember model, Front will be Nordost Flatline, center Monster THX, something, (existing)

Interconnect, Van Dul Hul D102III hybrid (existing)

    Espon EMP-TW1000 HD projector

and yes Bose is just a preamp not a full amp and look at the cable they provide, ten cent per meter black red type and without subwoofer really cannot make it

Play ipod with ipod dock more worth it

    Cheers

  3. Hi Light,

I didnt know can get direct from Japan. anyway already order $4600 is quite a good price and value for money compared to other projectors, mainly DLP, similar quality projector cost much more and this one receive good review though out, so I am pretty happy after I seen the demo several times.

As for upscaling, perhaps I am not clear enough. With all HiFi, AV alike, the source is the primary quality, I remember viewing a blue ray disc that is poorly mastered played thru a high end blue ray player, the result sucks.

The various information on the latest HDMI1.3a for deep color, etc is provided the entire chain is HDMI 1.3a, sadly I dont have a HD or Blue ray player, mine is a reference model from Sony DVPNS9100ES and is only capable of upscaling to 1080i and the Epson will then do the interlacing to 1080p. The more processing the more noise, in most cases unless you really have a very high end component.

So for me since the source, my DVD can upscale to 1080i and the Epson is doing a very very good job in deinterlacing to 1080p, i will not need the AV Amp to do the processing, save on heat, potential interferences and still get good picture. Having the AV Amp do another round of processing is not going to add much to the picture I think. OF course will need to try it out to know for sure.

I had view a few setups from my friends to come to my conclusion.

    Cheers

  4. The tiles are shaped that way. They have a gradual, wavy or corrugated form. 3 waves per tile.

When you line them up horizontally, they give you that feel. I like the waves to be horizontal rather than verticle as it makes the bathroom feel bigger or wider than it really is.

Tha is a Espon EMP TW1000 right? I bought as well, what AV Amp u using?

I will beusing TX-NR905 Onkyo will be getting a separate stereo amp as well.

    Cheers

  5. Will take note for the cabling, that's why need to be there to brief eletrician, also esp on the power point for the 2 amp, cannot have lazy chain for the 2 socket, though I plan to buy a power plant, but at a later stage...singpore voltage is not that bad compare to many other countries, so can live with it, as the equipment and speakers need run in as well.

For Europe/UK brand Amp $3k and above very common, Naim, superNait is over $6k, NAD M3 is about $4.5k, Creek Destiny is also over $4k, this Musical Fidelity A5 receive very good review and list at $4200 and quoted $3750 with GST, all the rest i mentioned all before GST, but I think can get some discount off the list price.

Have you heard of Anti Cable, a solid wire stiff but maleable, coated red, saw in Audio 88 done some read up seems not bad, one of those more exotic cable other than Nordost. By the way I am using Nordost flatline now perhaps will stick to it and change later. Interconnect using VanDer Hul D102 II hybrid not too bad as well. But will definitely change later along with power plant.

    Cheers

  6. Hey Lifestyle, yes I got my stuff so far from KEC at Adelphi. Just collected all the cables, and projector mounting so that I can get the electrician to install them as part of the wiring then can conceal as much as possible with ceiling work. Been very busy doing measurement and calculation for the best location, length required, etc

    Some updates - no pics

Flooring and erection of walls all done. currently plastering, will bedone by this Sat and monday will be cabling.

Went to listen to Musical Fidelity A5...like it very much think will be getting it as a stereo for 2 channel music only enjoyment and also it has a HT bypass so can co-exist with my AV Amp well. A bit pricy though at $3750.

    Cheer

  7. Hi everyone,

Correction, the price for Onkyo TX-NS875 is $2050, not $2505, inclusive of GST, the price for TX-NR905 is correct at $3000. If you are more particular on the sound quality, the 905 is a better choice.

On feature wise both are very similar and if that is you decision criteria, than 875 is a more value for money model.

The toriodal transformer is really a key component in better audio.

    cheers

  8. Hi Lifestyle,

I will be using a fixed screen, Remaco local brand, saw it a few times not too bad though not the best out there, price wise $1000+ for a 90" size.

The reason I am looking at the 905 is for the toroidal transformer and also having separate transformer for the video processing. Toroidal transformer is only available from 4806 model and above for denon products and not in the 4308 I initially keen on and high end product much more ex then the 905 for other brands. As you know the transformer is a very impt component for HiFi and AV components.

Also the better DAC is another reason. There seems to be some issues surrounding the HDMI handshake but I am not too concern as I will definitely set to "THROUGH" and skip the processing and it problem would be ease when the player is also HDMI 1.3a, currently my player SONY DVPNS9100ES is not 1.3a I think it is 1.2 or 1.2a as it can stream SACD via HDMI and only 1.2 and later can do that.

    So that it for now.

Will PM u separately and hopefully you can reply ASAP as I need to confirm order by this week, most probably tmr.

    Cheers

    Hey Lifestyle,

Yr PM is either disabled or Full, can't PM u.

So do PM me on yr lobang for the Onkyo AMP ASAP, as mentioned I need to place order by this week, most probably tmr for End Nov shipment.

  9. Hi everyone,

    pretty busy weekend.

Bought the Karcher water filter vacuum cleaner (DS5500 - $640) , novita steam iron (ss19, $340), Samsung fridge (RSH1NEMH, $1600, refer to pic), prices are cheaper than major store, got them from a friend's shop, I suppose not the real cheapest, but reasonable, tired to really hunt around and if any issues, no problem in getting it fixed or replace, bought most if not all appliance from him.

    2367236800101567062S425x425Q85.jpg

Bought washing machine Ariston AQXXL, for $969, after sales and $100 trade in existing Ariston washer.

    2525912490101567062S425x425Q85.jpg

place order for my LCD projector, Epson EMPTW 1000 ($4600) + others stuff (installation, cables, etc) total $6500+

Heard the Onkyo TX-NS875 ($2505) as previously no stock, wanted to hear the higher range TX-NR905 ($3000) and compare to Denon AVR4308CI ($2890)....going to do some research before place order by this week for End Nov shipment, if miss this week, must wait long.

Bought a dining set as well from Cellini, for $1316

Confirm to buy Sonus Faber speakers, ~ $5200 for Domus Grand Piano (Front speakers), Domus Center (~$1400) and Domus Gravis or wall Domus (~$1400)

Sigh...bleeding heavily as things progress, really need the year end AWS to nurse the bleed.

  10. Confirmed Megadeth in SG Oct 26th, got ticket liao $85

Though heavy metal is not really my cup of tea, but i always admire the way they play the electric guitar.

Dave Mustein right that guy is good.

    cheers

    That's all for now

IF have time will be taking picture of some work in progress like most forumers do and definitely the completed unit...about 8 weeks from now i guess

    cheers

Hmm one more thing...the Sales guy from Gain city called last night telling me that with the removal of walls the unit I bought is not enough to cool the hall.

Went back today and change it to a inverter model with 2 x 9000 BTU for the 2 rooms and 1 x 16k BTU for the hall. Inverter having one compressor in the condenser unit is able to channel cooling capacity if only one 16k unit is on, which is the case 90% of the time.

Traditional condenser has 2 compressor to split the capacity, e.g. for 24k BTU there will be 2 compressor 12k each thus having a 16k BTU fan coil is not going to help as the max is 12k as a fan coil can only connect to one compressor, in bigger flats these days many will have 2 condenser unit 1 for room and 1 for hall...very common.

Oh and yes still Toshiba, with the change and also added for the bigger insultor than the previous, all in all $520 more, total $3019 all in.

    Cheers

  12. ID in proces of submitting the hacking permit and should start work end Sep or early Oct.

Bought aircon today, Toshiba, System 3 (2 x 9000 BTU and 1 x 12000 BTU). The fancoil is with plasma air purifier and has built in ionizer as well.

I bought from Gain City and upgraded the piping and insulation material, all in all $2609 with free 5 years extended warranty.

    Cheers

  13. Hi,

Anyone heard of Richard's Lightings or bought any lights from them?

Wonder how is their service and product quality and price like?

    Also Extreme Lightings any comments?

Flying off today so next week will be shopping for lightings when I get back.

    Cheers

    One more thing,

Anyone have install laminate doors for bedroom and maindoor?

Thinking of that and it is about the same price as verneer doors but if with ABS trimming it is about $200 to $300 more, so price about $800 for bedroom inclusive of door frame and about $1100 for main door with door frame.

main worry is the edges of the laminate, peeling...anyone done that, wood trimming is not suitable for the color that I wanted, dark drey and if paint the wood trimming the tone will not be nice, actually ABS trimming may have the same problem and wood trimming is around the same price too.

    Cheers

  14. Thanks for the info. It sure looks great ;)

Btw, does the wall decoration behind the bedhead part of the accessories? How much would that cost?

The set I bought exclude the side table and the top unit for the writing desk, i.e. I bought Bed (supersingle), writing desk and wardrobe, cost $2100+, exclude the wallpaper, wallpaper is about 14 psf. The shop is at United Square.

    Cheers

  15. Hi fteocs,

Great HT you will have with those combinations :notti:

Excellent & expensive choice of AVR you chosen. Tough decision between Denon & Onkyo 905 (with Reon & THX-Utra features) if i have a choice. Definitely look department goes to Denon with its rounder look.

Epson TW-1000 is a great PJ. I was going to get one of those a few months ago. You might want to consider also the newer PJ like Optoma HD80 and Infocus Full HD 1080p IN81 & IN82 DLP projectors.

Fixed screen is a good choice. Any particular brand and screen size (100 inch?)?

    :dancingqueen:

Don't quite like the sound of Onkyo..

Video wise most probably turn off the AV upscaling and use the projector upscaling.

I prefer LCD projector and this epson maintanence is pretty low in terms of lamp replacement.

Fixed screen...steward screen is good but very ex...so most probably go for cheaper screen to start...local remaco is not the best but not too bad..i saw the demo on remaco...

    Cheers
