  1. Hi Guys

Does anyone know a good company that sells patterned tiles for bathroom floor? We're doing reno on our bathrooms and would like to use patterned tiles on the floor ( shower floor as well )

Has anyone does this b4? any advise? pros and cons ?

Most companies just seem to have mosaic tiles which is not exactly what i'm looking for . I'm looking more for a herringbone or a hexagonal , or those tradition pranakan type mix with modern.

    thanks in advance

  2. Hi

For those out there considering the contractors route (like me once), I can recommend my contractor to you. I just completed (almost) my reno with him, He is indeed a nice guy... fair, honest and reliable. He was an ID once, but then switched to doing reno. So can get design ideas from him w/o additional charge :) Never had much issues with his workers' quality of work. He is experienced and gives pretty good advice. Be warn though, he is not the cheapest neither is he the most ex. His workers are also indeed experienced with one of them even having a reno project in a house at Sentosa Cove! Hence the cost, maybe. Having said that, I know he does a number of BTO reno projects so I guess his costs are not that prohibitive.

I also engaged a carpenter to do my kitchen. He's a pro with his own workshop and men. Though initially I thought he would cost a lot more than my existing contractor (after viewing his pro showroom), his came in at a slightly cheaper rate. Hence he was engaged to do my carpentry work. Loved his fully rendered drawings as well. Even though there were mistakes made, he accepted the responsibilities and made good of everything. He does house reno as well after talking to him. His clients are mainly landed properties type from the various computer illustrations which he showed me. Need to chat with him to find out more.

Even though my main con did not get do earn from carpentry, he was professional even to give me advice on what to do which we were appreciative of. He made sure his work complements the work of the carpenter. As both parties were experienced, the whole reno went rather smoothly (Of course it is best to do everything with one contractor). Moreover, my kitchen counter top and doors went to other vendors! Despite of these, my main con still served me well. Of course, there were other things we did which was not the main contracting norm, he still decided to take up my house reno. It was an interesting journey for both parties.

We never had any problems as described by other forummers i.e. bad workmanship, MIA contractors, money issues etc. In fact, I chase to pay them sometimes because they never seem to ask for money for the work done! Even though there were blemishes in their work, both of them will make good effort to correct all mistakes to the best of their abilities which we appreciate. Seriously, I don't mind engaging either of them again. But you pay what you get I suppose.

Do pm me if you wish to know more.

    Cheers

@TITW can you PM me his contact? Thank you

  3. Thank you bepgof for your advise

Usually is lower floor complain upper floor not cooperative but now it's the other way around.

The problem is i'm not certain if the issue is my waste pipe causing the problem. That's why i'm getting all these contractor in to try to find out if i am responsible. :(

I'm so stress as they keep calling hassling my family, screaming and shouting. I already emphasise that i will take responsibility if it is indeed my problem but they insist i do it their way and i ask too many people to come in to have a look and doing nothing but disturbing her tenants. They are not giving me enough time to find out the root problem.

But back to the point. I was reading that it's my responsibility to prove it's not my fault not for her to prove right?

I was thinking of calling STB tomorrow to see if i can get some legal advise.

  4. HI

Could someone give me some advise on my problem.

I live in an old condo and my neighbour below has complained to us about leakage to their apt.

I have gotten 2 contractors to look into my master bedroom toilet and hers but there is no obvious leak in my house. Then they complain about a foul smell in their master bedroom and said it's to do with our waste pipe and we need to change it.

This neighbour is very aggressive , screams and shouts. I suggested since they said it's a sewage problem, i get another contractor in to ascertain the problem so i know where the fault lies.

She is now refusing to let us have access to his apt and tells me that i have to fix my pipe and i have to pay her 3000 to fix her apt. If it's more that 3K i will top up. If not she will return me the money.

Please tell me this is highly unreasonable. When i am trying to find the source of the problem. She has tenants and i have tenants too. She also threaten lawsuit which i find funny because i did my part and she is dictating what i should do.

Before this incident there was another incident when we were renovating. There was a major leakage and we paid her 1500 to fix her apartment. But now she is telling me i have to fix her whole apt because the electrics in her house keeps tripping and i have to fix her ceiling.... And it feels like she is putting everything together and trying to extort money from me.

She even got another contractor to call us and tell us it's 7K to fix her house but they give us discount and we only have to pay her 3000.

I'm willing to pay if it's my fault. but she is not helping and forcing me to go her way when i am doing everything according to the rules.

What should i do. I really feel like finding a lawyer to deal with her. Since she is threatening me .

  5. HI Guys

Can anyone recommend me a good ID/contractor to renovate my bath room.

I was looking through some of ID firms there are listed here with good reviews but when i asked them to come round for a quote, this particular firm who's got good reviews all round just told me the estimate cost is 8000. But without coming round to see they just quote an estimate. I find this ridiculous and am uncomfortable with this.

    Is this normal?

Friends told me better to go with contractor without ID since i have limited budget and it's just a bath room. But i have no ideas about what goes with what hence the need for an ID.

    Anyone can recommend a ID?

  6. Hello

I'm looking to do up my bathrooms. Could you pm me your ID's contact? Thank you.

hi ck1005, the sink was from SaniQuo. price should be $460

hi Asterus, the tv console was custom-built by my ID. price will be dependent on your actual measurement.. we found the price to be reasonable and very similar to what you can buy in furniture stores.
