Hi Renotalk readers, My condo was severely damaged by water, after a kitchen pipe burst. Even worse, I was overseas for 5 days when it happened. By the time I returned home, most of my living/dining area, kitchen, and both bedrooms and bathrooms were flooded with water. It damaged all the timber flooring in both bedrooms, timber skirting in various areas of the unit (glue has been eroded), and stained at least 4 doorways. 3 walls inside my condo have absorbed some water, damaging the painted & wallpapered surfaces. Possibly the structural integrity itself. Given that I need specific areas repaired or replaced, should I engage separate contractors? For example, I could get a specialist to do the timber floors/skirting/doorways, a separate company for the walls, etc. Or should I get an integrated quote from the same interior designer that helped me when I first bought the place? I'm mindful that my home insurance will cover some, but not all of the costs. I'm not sure if I want to appoint the original designer if the insurance company isn't going to cover the margins they charge for their 1-stop service. What would you do? Any advice/views would be very much appreciated! Cheers, C
