Bianzi, I ordered already and its shipped otw to Singapore! Sorry!

    Hi, nice hoots!

Please share the craftstone brick tb link thanks!

    Hello there,

Here's the link . Anyway I suggest that you should wait for me to receive it first, do a review before ordering as it can be quite a big order and if they dont turn out nicely it'd be a waste of money. I'm ordering this and keeping my fingers crossed

  3. Figured that I wouldn't be able to take photos of every single item I bought from TB, so here are some which I've taken their images from seller for my first order (I've got 4 orders in total). Would take real photos of bigger items such as dining table, chairs, dining lights, TV console etc when its here!

Anyway one of the items I bought which is the sofa cushion was purposely ordered in down feather (its SO difficult to find) as down feather is plushy and super huggable! I managed to buy just the pillow cover in the same size of the down feather separately too!

    gallery_62588_461_47618.jpg

All taps/ toilet accessories are bought from the same seller except the bidet spray:

    gallery_62588_461_562802.jpg

Managed to find this suspended clothes hanger too, so in love with it!

  4. 5K worth of TB ! Looking forward to your update on the purchase

+1 vote for 55" Samsung (Cheaper and most devices not yet support UHD)

Yay! Look forward to it!! Thanks for your +1!

I would go for the HD tv if the UHD is $1000 more. UHD content will need a few more years before it becomes mainstream so not much point to get it right now.

Save the cash for something else :notti:

Thanks for sharing your opinion, totally agree! :good:

No requirements for UHD unless you are a bluray enthusiast. The topbox that Starhub and MIO provides supports only up to HD at the moment. The UHD resolution will not be fully utilised just based on these topbox.

We don't watch bluray and I believe firmly that HD is sufficient to! Thanks for sharing, +1 to HD vote! :notti:

  5. Update about the console

Managed to clean up the house and had it set up today. It comes without the legs attached. To assemble, We only need to screw in the legs. And put in the shelf for the middle compartment. Whole console is made of solid wood, very heavy.

    21_consoleopen.jpg

All set up! The biggest problem we have with it, is with the sliding doors. They do not slide smoothly. Needed quite some work. We had to sand the grooves (where the wheels run), apply lubricant, loosen the bolt. A lot of trial and error to get it finally sliding smoothly. But for 600 SGD, it was a pretty good buy. When we received it few weeks ago, it was properly packed within a wooden crate support.

This was one of the consoles I shortlisted too! Super excited to see yours! :) Good work there!

  6. Taobao Updates:

Eventually I topped up my purchases on TB to be worth $5000 - my hubby told me TB's too addictive and that should be my last order, haha.

Anyway most of the items has already reached the warehouse in China and I'll be shipping them asap to get the reno started.

    Contractor J Update:

Contractor mentioned he will be sending me a timeline of what he's gonna do and what will be done - I thought it was very neat and thoughtful. Laying of floor protection will start this Friday and it will be quickened once my TB shipment comes.

I'm in a dilemma to buy a LG $3099 UDH 55" TV or a Samsung $2199 HD 55" SMART TV - Which would you pick?

Also, is it true that kitchen laminates are usually 0.8mm? Cause Contractor J told me he will let me pick the more expensive laminates 1-1.2mm without topup as I saw a laminate I particularly like! So far he hasn't charged me extra for anything I added here and there even though I signed the contract with him already so I'm very thankful!! I heard there's so many ID and contractor that start charging a bomb after signing for any small additional things. Contractor J even threw in a suspended bed side table for hubby which he was thrilled :jammin:

  7. Hi lovescandi,

Mind sharing your contractor and electrician contact ? Thanks

    Please read this  :

Hi Cj8888, to be fair, I'm not quite sure if my contractor would like me to share the contact details of his electrician cause I believe he works for him. I need to check with him on this at a later stage. Secondly, I would prefer a lot more to share Contractor J's contact when I finish or am halfway through doing my place to give everyone a more thorough review of the final workmanship and service he provides. I think it's only fairer that way to introduce genuinely good contractors to people on renotalk than some who just keeps telling you their contractor / ID is so good so good but the reason why they tell u it's good is because they want u to sign with their contractor to get a referral fee or discount for their EC. I've met so many people who do that but their contractor/ID is really just not that good as they claim. I believe in only authentic referrals thus for those who PMed me for Contractor J's contact, I think you guys need to wait at least a month on before I decide to share or not share his contact (:

  8. So why go thru an agent when you are able to communicate direct to seller via Aliwangwang?

If you are worry about paying, nowadays TB accept Nets. If your agent does checking, then I understand the rational.

However, I doubt agent will check all especially when items comes crated.

    Hi Oceaneleven,

Actually the reason why I go through an agent is because I have no idea how to order and send it direct to Singapore. I understand that there's a forwarder called 4PX or something but I dont know how to order and input the forwarder's address. The other thing is I'm not sure how I know whether which item has reached the China forwarder's warehouse and which item hasn't reached. I heard 4PX is not prompt with updates or sometimes doesn't even update?

My agent doesn't check for me the items but he orders for me and updates it instantly everytime something reaches China's warehouse as well as update whether seller has dispatched it for delivery or hasn't. I can then decide whether I want to ship which items to SG first if the rest haven't reach.

If you could enlighten me how ordering directly from seller works, that'd be great, thank you!

  9. Oic!ur electrician is good! Can pm me his contacts as well as your contractor contacts? Thanks!!!

Hi Cj8888, to be fair, I'm not quite sure if my contractor would like me to share the contact details of his electrician cause I believe he works for him. 10. Hi lovescandi,

I am also intending to install track lights at the tv area n dining area. But normally the main electrical pt is at the center of the livingroom area which i will use it for the ceiling fan. Did u do a false ceiling so that a electrical pt can be made at the tv area? Or how does ur electrician resolve this issue? Thanks!!

Hello there!! Yes the problem I had was that the main point was right in the middle of the living room and I didn't want to do a false ceiling at the tv area but so wittily, the electrician whom I'm gonna name Electrician S. thought of a way to place it such that I don't have conduits running in awkward shapes on e ceiling by manipulating the length of the track. It's tricky to share how it's done but I will post this when my wiring are up to give you a clearer idea (:

    --------------------------------------

A quick update today: I visited my contractors office and my jaw literally dropped. I thought he was running a really small one man business like typical contractors but what I didn't know was that he actually had a huge factory with several workers who were cutting huge solid boards and assembling them from literal scratch. It was then I realised, that I had actually come straight to a contractor who makes everything himself such that he was able to give me better quality in terms of all the carpentry and laminates etc etc yet still priced it so low. I also realised he only has workers to make everything but he does the delivery+assembling+touch up. It's quite impressive because it was then I saw the step by step of building a kitchen from factory and that IDs go through him to get their kitchen done. I thought such factories probably existed in China where they cut such huge solid woods into a board and so forth.

Anyway I picked out all my laminates for the house today at his office as well as finalized details of storage and even more convinced my kitchen/ shoe cabinet & walk in would turn out amazing (:

  11. My sofa is 2.3m long... made in 2 sections... they charge me $2k, throw in 2 rectangular pillows and 1 square (60cm x 60cm) one... depends on the fabric you choose also... we chose belgium fabric...

Sounds great, thanks for sharing! Love your place!

Walkway with hanging LED lights (2 bulbs not installed yet), also from taobao. Chalkboard paint on bomb shelter door, painstaking painted by my ID and I on a Saturday afternoon.

My fav purchase from Taobao, Tom Dixon Beats lamp. Saw this in most lighting shop selling @ S$200. I got these 3 babies @ less than 200rm excluding shipping. Changed the bulbs to Philips 5W Led.

    Kitchen_zps7b1fc398.jpg

Kitchen with New York Teak Kompacplus surface and wall. LED strip not installed yet. Oh ya I changed my hood and hob to tecno instead.

Love your tom dixon lights and kitchen top! :)

  13. Last night as I was alising with a seller for one of the bigger orders through aliwangwang, the seller told me that my Singapore agent ordered one item less for me. Thankfully he alerted me immediately and I dropped my TB agent an email to get it rectified.

After that, I realised to minimize any problems with my Taobao shipment since its really so huge, I contacted every single seller I was buying from via Aliwangwang and told them to double check my agent's purchase with my actual orders by telling them what I ordered exactly. I also shared that I require them to crate up or store them well to be shipped overseas to reduce any defects when it reaches Singapore. I think if you are ordering from TB and is a low risk taker like me, you should contact TB sellers directly. It saves the hassle of returns and exchanges when it reaches :dribble:

  14. Camping to see your purchases :good:

$4000 is many many things, I only bought like $2000 worth!

I'm really pinning my hopes that things arrive safely and as they are, thanks for popping by!

I bought $1,000 and my friends thought I was Siao. Haha but it's quite addictive! Looking forward to see what you've bought

TB is seriously addictive. My original purchase was about $3k and I have no idea how I managed to want to buy $4k worth of stuff haha. Fingers crossed, I say :)

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While fiddling with different modules of my walk in wardrobe, here are some modules which I created (using photoshop) to suit my room with exact dimensions! Well, thing about using contractor is that you have to be preferably precise in what you want so I thought I better come up with a photo to show him instead of verbally explaining what modules I need in my wardrobe. By the way, I told my contractor that I wanted coloured laminates for the internal instead of white (as advised by all my friends) and internal coloured laminate actually costs more in case some of you didn't know.

The third module from the left is actually for my dresses which is longer in length :sport-smiley-003:

    Which do you guys prefer?

  15. Hi Kooning,

    here you go.. :thumbs up:

    http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.9.64.M6mObC&id=20153153850&_u=l1umporm9e82

    Hi Thunder,

I used Oops.. they charge CNY50 per 0.1cbm. However, the min is 1cbm, which means the min you have to pay is CNY500.

So, best to get as many items as possible.

The service is not bad.. but i feel the shipping is a little bit slow. maybe because they only have 2 shipment per week.

As they are facing some issues with the insurance companies, you will not be unable to get insurance to cover your stuffs. Insurance is optional btw.

They are also unable to provide you the up-to-date cbm of your goods until you are ready to ship. so you have to estimate if your stuff is near or already more than the min 1cbm.

the other popular one is Amcon - which i believe most renotalk-ers are using?

its a little bit more expensive. have not personally used it but i believe the shipping should be faster as they have 4 shipment per week.

Maybe others can share more on this forwarder.

I chose oops because everything can be done online, no need to call etc.

If i need to ship many items again, there is a high chance i will use them again.

    hope this help. cheers~

Awesome thanks for sharing! Im using oops and hope things go smoothly!

  16. Last week while I was out for a meeting, I chanced upon a shop in Lavender called WINLY PAINTS PTE LTD. Realised their nippon paints, everything you needed for painting a house are like 10%-25% off other hardware shops so I was exhilarated! E.g. Nippon Odourless / Easywash 5 litre paint is only at $60+ instead of the $80-90++ other shops quoted me. I saw many contractors pulling over their shop along the main road to buy their paint so figured they must be one of the lowest around! If you're looking for paint + accessories, you can check them out!

Today, I took a plunge and ordered $4,000 worth of stuff from Taobao. It sounds really crazy because even my freight forwarder also called me to confirm I indeed made such a big purchase.

Fingers crossed everything comes intact! Anyway, I made an excel sheet with each individual item + price in RMB + price in SGD + quantity + URL to organize the orders. Thanks to a friend, I also managed to alias with all the sellers using china's version of MSN and negotiated for price and shipping. For items with power point plugs, I made sure they changed it to Singapore's 3 pin plug because previously I ordered a vacuum cleaner and the plug was a huge headache.

Can't wait to share my taobao purchases!!:sport-smiley-004:

  17. From your ID selection process/ bed selection process, I can see that both you and your hubby are very meticulous and passionate people. For people like you, you don't need 3D and I'm sure you'll be able to guide the contractor well. Or make him do it again and again till it's what you want! haha.

Good luck for the rest of it and well done on the cleaning of the sewing trestles! I wouldn't have been able to do that.

Hi Dwinsplace, thank you for your compliments! Not sure if we're really meticulous but its our first home so we try to pick everything in detail while infusing the design and functionality aspects of the product. My contractor I have shortlisted, let me name him Contractor J, seems to grasp what we have in mind so thank God we're in good hands, I hope!

curious and looking forward to see what u gg to transform this into..... :good:

    Thanks Kelhy, look forward!

    Today Updates:

Electrician came over today to plan our electrical wiring. Apparently they work very closely with this Malaysian electrician which IS SO PROFESSIONAL. He's extremely meticulous and experienced even though he looks quite young (30+ years old) and planned out our electrical wiring so well ultimately. Im gonna get his number the next time he comes so I can call him directly in the future if I need electrical assistance :D:D

As we are using tracking lights for the scandinavian look, there was some hiccups to the electrical wiring layout which we thought was fine until the electrician pointed out the problem and how to 'clean' up the look on the ceiling so there won't be too many conduit all over. He also shared the best ways to do certain lighting points and electric points in the entire house and kitchen. Am very confident to be in safe hands for my electrical wiring even though he's not started yet.

Anyway he mentioned he'd come in to start with our wiring on Thursday! Yay!

  18. Spent the long weekend cleaning up some vintage sewing machines my dad and aunties bought for me! Guess where these vintage sewing machines are going to be?

Anyway these are the before images. They were really rusty and dirty but we managed to clean them up!

    gallery_62588_461_115007.jpg

How it looks like after cleaning it up and removing all the rust, dirt. Using different chemicals (thank God I have a very handy husband)

How do you think it looks?
