  1. I also recently got the LA40R81 Bordeux from BKC at $1870 nett w/o free gifts but wif wall mount and install. Thought it was a good buy for the price and 3 year warranty. They also had te FOC 26" but the package would have costed 2599. The price for this really fell through the roof from since it was launched. But the external panel really v nice design.

  2. Think the ecomony doing much better compared to past few years that some shops think they can yaya now.

To ride on your thread, I was a MEGA DXXXXXX KATONG previously ready to buy a 42" Sharp LCD when this balding middle aged salesman decided to take a dig at me for no apparant reason (by using a **** KL tone telling, not asking me to listen to him after I had meade a sarcastic remark.). All I did to "piss him off" was to ask really harmlessly "huh? you mean people actually touch their screens?" when he started to compare hard vs soft panel saying phillips one is better then Sharp's soft panel cos will not have image distortion upon touch. I mean I really didn't see the rationale of buying a TV and going around touching the screen instead of watching it.

I stopped him on the spot and said I wasn't interested in buying from him as he just walked off. All this while, he was sitting on the TV sideboard talking to us, the customers.

I bought a Mistral tower fan previously fro them and was ready to uy my fridge, TV, HT, washer etc but after this ***, I swore off this shop.

  3. Forgot to add. The thing that attracted me to this unit is the "Front stage focus advance" feature. This allows for all the speakers to be placed in front.. aiyah, cut and paste better:

    Front Stage Surround Advance

Front Stage Surround Advance allows you to enjoy surround sound with all the speakers placed in front. Since wall reflections are not used, the setup is less dependent on the room environment, and speakers can be aligned in front without cumbersome wiring running to the back of your room. Front Stage Surround Advance works by creating a difference in sound pressure perceived by the left and right ears, without altering the sound frequency response. This DSP technology creates excellent sound image and natural sound. Unlike conventional virtual surround methods, you are not left with the feeling of a simulated listening experience even after prolonged periods.

    Or is this just marketing?

  4. samsung tv dead within 1 yr, goldstar fridge consuming $40+ dollars of electricity every mth....etc

Man, now you are really scaring me. I have a friend. 2 pple stay in a 5 rm. electricity is 300+ a month. Though he has a chiller running for his 5 ft marine tank. He also uses an LG fridge. Hmm, must really think hard now. thanks for sharing

  5. if your dad is paying......just listen to him lah..

me also japanese product school.....although nowadays korean products have improved a lot but no way me gonna be a guinea pig for the 2nd time.

No lah, I'm the one paying but have a history of being a sucker for design neglecting the utilitarian/economy part. Care to share your bad experience the first time?

  6. Hi, interested in their bedroom set and dining table. has anyone bought from them recently? is their service and quality good? read that there are quite some bad comments, but dont' know whether recently anybody has bad experience. Please share both good and bad. Thanks!

Bought from them 1 year plus ago. My parent's wadrobe was infested with mould within months. Called them, kenna kicked like a ball. no solution. my mum keep wiping and wiping every few weeks, mold keep growing. the "support staff" can only say must air it, open the windows of the room. My parents don't use the aircon. the windows are open 24/7. In the end, my dad used carwax to wax the interior once through. The mold stopped growing. Dun expect them to help you. Also, find their designs q dated. A few bedroom and study table sets I saw last year still on sale this year. no change. Gave up on them liao.

  7. Dear all.

I am looking to buy a fridge of ard 500L. Thing is, I fell in love with a Samsung 2 dr side by side fridge. However, my dad keeps telling me that I should get a japanese brand. Which I have shortlisted a Hitachi model as my 2nd choice. He says they are more energy efficient and won't give problems. However, I really love the samsung fridge due to the colour and design. (Some may find it riduculous). Are japanese fridges really more energy efficient than koreans?

    Confused...

  8. Congrats. From your pic, I see the MRT line. Lucky you, 20k above valuation for 5 rm is indeed a steal. We began house hunting in july and the prices were 50k above valuation for 4rm tampines. Madness. In the end, we settled for a 10k above valuation EA in Pasir Ris. Also considered a "steal" considering the 70k above for 5rm in Bedok etc.

From your bathroom pics, I see that the width of your showering area is about 2.5ft. Will it be too narrw to bathe comfortably? I'm having this problem too.

  9. My folks have a simple table from ikea which they originally intended to use for simple clothes folding. However, it found it's way to the kitchen and with only 1 baby belling oven placed on top, it is transforming into a banana day by day.

In my bathroom is another ikea product, this time their washroom mirror cabinet. After jus a couple of month's usage, the metal part which was originally coated with paint started to rust.

  10. No leh...dun have. I tried thinner, i tried also lighter fuel. All cannot and it is stucked to the wall like it was part of the wall!

Ask around only can cut silicone but not dissolve. Wonder any miracle can happen someone can enlighten me or not?

I think need to freaking break the sink...shucks...terrible :-(

I bought the sink and the brand is bellavista got website http://www.bellavista.com

    haiz so suay reno...

Oh yah that's like the price there. Coz i tried bargaining so HARD with the owner and he refused to budge. So i settled for 178k. But u know a unit three floors below mine sold for $180k!!

Am sure so many u see...same here also cannot find ideal one...but now found...

You are right, silicone can only cut. May take some time and effort though. But breaking it sound really ridiculous. Dangle at the Ah neh 100 bucks and give him 1 whole day. See if he can remove or not. :dancingqueen:

  11. so lucky that i chanced upon this thread!! ...was there at IMM last weekend when the Red Apple store sales fella by the name of Stephen approached me and my bf as we were looking thru their items..Pretty nice and chic i may say...then their salesman offered a package of 3k, inclusive of 4 items - sofa, tv console, coffee table and dining table which i thought **** cheap (but made in Hk??? :dribble:)! But wanting to look further at other stores, we chanced upon another : BHG...not sure if anyone dealt with them? In the end we took up their package which was 3.5k but only inclusive of sofa and 2 other items which we could pick.. This was more ex but some of their stuff are made in italy and local , and all their furnitures can be customised so we thought well..just take lah.. handed in a deposit of 1k plus (when my bf and me havent even got a hse yet!hahaha..already actively looking for one so if no prob, should be able to move in by next yr).. They do allow like Red Apple to kiv your goods on hold for one yr which i thought was rather good..

Actually, I won't recommend keeping your items with a company for too long. Imagine the hassle should they decide to close down. Best is arrange for delivery asap or pay a very low downpayment to minimise your risks.

  12. hi guys, how abt PU leather? same attributes as PVC or slightly better?

Sama sama lah i think. nowadays so many diff synthetic materials. PVC, PU leather, rebonded leather, Techno leather. All fancy names come out. Think will stick to genuine leather then.

Anyone got their sofas from navinci? Their pxes are reasonable and the build seems q gd leh. St Louis has gd half leather ones too.

  13. Dear all,

We have jus started seaching for a sofa for our new place. As we did not want to risk any allergies caused by dust, we decided on a leather L shaped. However, seems there are many designs out there that we like but available only in "Techno Leather", "Re-bonded leather" etc all which means PVC put simply. Though I must say some did such a good job I was fooled. Anyone using this sofas? Are they really very warm as claimed by many?

    Thanks in advance

  14. Hi. Whiteice78,

My 1st appt is already scheduled on 22nd Sept. So I am assuming 2 months after that will be my key collection date.

The current owner is having his own renovations in his own new hotse, hence he also needs some time. Thats why the date is fixed for 1st Dec.

BTW what is the trend of timeline between the 1st and last appointment..... :jawdrop:

Hey Buzz, I'm not too sure too but it seems it's usually 1mth odd bet 1st appt and collection of keys. Anyone else can shed light on this? thanks

  15. Mr Lim's contact : 97665695

Hi Suzanne, that's really alot done in the 3 wks. My Wife and I have gotten ourselves a resale EA and like you, we are on a tight schedule for reno. I was looking at Ho Bee but it seems they are perpetually tied up so Mr Lim sounds good in this case. Do you mind sharing the total cost of your reno? cos that's pretty much wat we need to do up too. Thanks
