We have been to the following places to get our Victorian styled furniture: 1) Paris Hxxe - We have heard bad reviews about them from this particular competitor of theirs. So we were rather careful. Checking for defects and only buying showroom pieces. Service was ok...not consistent, but I must say the pieces that they choose and the way they style their showroom is very good. Makes you want to buy from them. We got a few pieces from them, cash and carry. Prices were reasonable. But, can't comment on customized pieces. They bring in new items frequently so good to drop by a few times. 2) Victorian Flair - Lady Boss Caroline was very helpful. We went to them on many occasions but only bought one item from them. Overall, their paint quality is good. They bring in new items frequently. 3) Manhattan Collections - Furniture buying had never been so difficult for us. We bought big items from them. Customized items. But all we hear were excuses on why the items were not delivered. We had to chase them for updates which they conveniently avoided. Would not recommend them to anyone. The showroom items are rather old. So don't recommend cash and carry. Paint job can be quite bad too. 4) JS Manhattan - Helpful owner. Professional. They make be the weakest link as they weren't keen on customizing much. Hence, we went to someone else. They do ID as well. So could be a good place to start your research for new home owners. Overall, just be careful when you are customizing something. Pay as little deposit as you can if you have to. Go around to see how much you can bargain. Prices are rarely fixed. A friend told me, furniture shops are always having discounts/sale..after 5 months of furniture shopping, I can attest to it. Good Luck!
