    Hi All.

Share with you guys some bad experience for this digital lock I purchased.

If you really want to buy SAMSUNG Lock, please buy from local authorize distributor

After our Reno finAlly done up. We decided to Install a digital lock. We compare quote, seems this Parrellel importer quote is cheaper by $100 so we decided to go ahead. At that time we didn't know it's parallel importer.

This research is done after problematic local from PI occurs.

The different between parallel importer and authorize distributor is the following:

    1. Parallel importer warranty is 1 year where local agent is 2 years.

    2. Local agent come with master reset password but PI only have a fix master reset password.

i regretted buying through a parallel importer. During sourcing, I also didn't know it's a parallel importer till the digital lock is faulty than checked with Samsung than realize that I had purchase through a PI rather than local agent.

The product spoiled just 1 year and 10 DAYS! I call the seller to report such fault but claim that warranty expired, have to charge me $280 for the repair! I reason with them that it's warranty just expire 10 days cannot do exceptional? Die die also cannot. Understandable as their product is from oversea any replacement set will be at their own profit. I wrote to Samsung to complaint and was refer to their local authorized distributor. At this point I was like. ****. I bought a parallel importer set.

So now I have to spend money for another new set of lock which buy from local distributor. In order to save for $100 I spent additional $699 for a dumb lock which serve me for 1 year and 10 days.

by the way, once the lock is installed.  most probably you have to use back similar brands of lock for future replacement cause the door opening once drill at the door cannot amend! Choose your lock and research wisely.

    Hope that helps.

Probably you might want to consider getting a Yale instead, just my opinion.

  2. Just sharing that after doing some comparison between Yale and PI Gateman, decided to go for local Yale in the end as I was told that Gateman locking mechanism is at the back plate of the lock and not slot in between the door like our conventional lock mechanism.

Wanted to take Yale YDD424 at $699 but decided to give a try on Igloohome which is only $249 including installation, it can be unlock using Pin, Bluetooth and it is having on-going promotion at $169 excluding installation so decided to give it a try.

What I like about it is that you can assign temporary pin to unlock the door even if you are not at home which Yale Digital Lock cannot do that unless you go for the YRD220 model.

Have anyone tried using the new U-48 or the U-60 KDK ceiling fan? It is the latest with light.

I have just fixed it recently, one for my living room and my baby room. It is more expensive but definitely looks much better than their usual model.

The issue with these fans are the balance of the fans and I am glad that my current installation is pretty well done! Got to give it to them.

If anyone is using it right now, please share with me your experience and also how much you spent! I spent $479 for U-48 and $659 for U-60 from Everjoint.

    Many thanks!!

Care to share where you got your KDK fans?

I went to the Philips Carnival over the weekend and bought a Philips hue system.  Anyone here using it?

Basically, it allows you to (1) remotely turn your lights on/off, (2) remotely change the colour of your lights, (3) remotely control the dimming function of your lights.  It integrates with Apple HomeKit and therefore you can even use Siri to control your light.  You can also control the lights in your home remotely whilst you are away from home.  Of course there are additional functions to automate your home e.g. you can program it to turn on certain lights when you reach home after a designated time (and it will detect via your phone that you have reached home and those lights will come on).  Best thing is, there is no additional wiring.  For this to work, you need to have an internet connection and wifi at home as it taps into your existing wifi network to control the lights.

The Philips Bridge (generation 2) is the controller for all your hue lights.  It can control up to 50 individual hue lights.  The hue lights are LED lights that come in various shapes and sizes which you can either screw in or plug into your lighting point.  Each hue light has its own built-in wifi which will be controlled by the Bridge via your home's wifi.

No expensive re-wiring or installing expensive dimmer switches all over the house.  It works right out of the box and I installed them myself ..... no need for electrician, etc.  So far, having fun experimenting with them.  Its a whole new world of experience for me to be able to change the lighting colour and dim the lights in whichever area of my house that I have chosen to locate the hue bulbs and doing it using Siri.

BTW, I do not work for Philips nor am I selling this product.  I am just an enthusiastic first-time user.

Thanks for sharing. I will consider getting for my new flat. Anyone where to get at cheaper price, do share, thanks.

  8. Wow, I was approach by one of their sales staff yesterday when I went for the Home Inspiration Fair at Expo and they keep asking us to put deposit to secure the pricing but we refuse as it is very pushy and we do not like it.
