  1. guys, need your advice...

    my contractor said :

    1) need to cut main door and main gate because the tile level will clash (without kerb)

    2) level of living room cannot be flushed with kitchen

any of you got such experiences to share?

    thanks!!

    happy

    Hi Happy,

What kind of tiles are you using? If its also homogenous

like most of us, I dun think there's a need to cut the main door

and gate. Have not heard anyone doing that.

Fyi, my living room tiles is flushed with that of my kitchen.

I even did an extra "kerb" near the main door to prevent dust

from coming into my unit. (or wealth to escape) :dancingqueen: but theres

no need to cut the door or gate.

I think it lies down to the skills of the tiler...

  2. Hi there :dancingqueen:

Anyone installed Joven heater and is now using?

I realise that mine takes a long time as I have to run the shower water in my MBR toilet for a few mins before the water turns hot. The water will still be hot as I shower. Then if my husband goes in after me, he has to run the water again cos it will turn cold!

Anyone knows why is it like tat? is the the heater or the piping??

    Thanks!!

    Hihi,

If you are talking about storage heater, it should not work this way.

Not too sure about instant heater though..But heard effect should

    be immediate.

My current place storage heater once its "warmed up", the hot water

should come in a matter of few seconds and not few minutes... imagine

the wastage.. My in laws water storage heater is also similiar.

  3. Hi all,

would like to give my 2 thumbs up to Jasmine from Central Aluminium. the process of installing the ventilation fan via Jasmine was straightforward and worry-free.

I contacted Jasmine about 2 weeks ago and within a few days, she arranged for her worker to assess my WC window. Last Monday (7 Apr), she asked me to fax her my floor plan and provide her with my NRIC to apply for the approval HDB permit, the approval was granted on 10 Apr and by yesterday 15 Apr, my ventilation fan was up. And it only cost me $200 nett (fixed panel plus the KDK fan model 20WUD)

I will post up the picture before and after when i get home tonight

Great to hear the convenience of the whole process.

I'm intending to get one too. Can you let me have her contacts?

Will love to see your pics tonight.

    !!

  4. it's more for added security as the hinges are not welded.

even if you have a good gate lock, thief still can open yr gate the other side thru the hinges within 5mins.

hearsay about these but don't know how true.

to me, with new items in the hse and recently reno, so wat's $90 to buy added security.

did it juz b4 delivery of the items.

    :)

    Hi,

Can I have the contact as well and total cost

    to replace the hinges?

    Thanks

    :P

  5. Yeoman,

I think mine is the same as yours. The Easy Clean Range with Jack Neo as the spokeperson? I got it for less than 3k. As for the insulation thing, I'm not too sure, will check with the aircon man when they install for me next Mon

    hihi Toppie,

    Wow, so much cheaper ar..

    Keep me updated~~

    You got it from IMM?

    :dunno:

  6. till date it is 4 months.

but say 3 months minus off chinese new yr break.

ID told me 2 more months if to uninstall the home shelter feature wall.

maybe this sat, u guys come and see if my feature wall is acceptable?

    so,3 + waiting 2 months about 5 months? HmmMmmMmmmMmm.

which ID hah? Keep his identity 1st bah.

Latest status: most of the earlier defects were done.

    but found new defects.

hey, neighbours, did your toilet basin get stuck?

both my toilet basin stuck. water can't flow down.

got to get ID's plumber to do something about it.

Actual handover is always a mystery. I trust the ID, but doesn't trust his dates anymore.Heh.

I didn't expect them to compensate me as they are not the type that give excuses and dilly dally

this week only, they have got workers to come in on Mon and Wed to work from day to night.

but a lot of waiting of time in between.

my father sounded out to me that we shouldn't be the ones standing there day and night to

tell ID what the defects are, he should be the one to observe and tell the workers.

I waited for the carpenter till near 9pm just to tell him what I told the ID earlier in the day.

    (still sort of pissed)

I didn't want to expect much from them now as I don't want to feel disappointed.

Sat open house still on. Take my house as a case study.

let me know if it is good/bad/comments.

I won't get hurt/offended..cos some part of my heart is numbed already.

    Have a good day all.

    Hi tension,

Release some tension and breathe :yamseng:

Dun wish to add salt to ur wound..

Look @ it this way,at least ur ID is still

    willing to rectify the defects.

Or maybe u r too perfectionist? :notti:

Anyway, can I go kaypoh ur unit this sat too?

will be dropping by at my place to see the HDB

    screeding.

After that will visit my same flr neighbour Liana's

    carpentry work~~

:dunno: Have a good day everyone~~

    Wah Piang! 4 Weeks!:jawdrop::jawdrop::P

I can't wait 4 weeks man... I just called that Ah Di fellow... He said he doesn't have the schedule with him just now... ask me to call him back tonight... Will see what he say later... I've already submitted the form 2 wks ago... 8|

My ID can't wait for the cement screeding in the bedrooms already... He will start laying the tiles in the living/ kitchen/ toilets from Thurs onwards...

Hopefully everything goes well and there are no clashes...

    Hi shivan,

So when are u scheduled for the cement screeding?

    :yamseng:

    Hi Alister

of coz i wont forget to invite u!!as soon as its completed i will inform u.... !!

    thks!!

im not too sure what time tension z and whoever interested would like to come by...i will be there abt 11am....how bout u???

    Hi Liana,

I will likely be there around 11am too.

Depending on the open house timing too. !!

    cya neighbour~~ :)

  7. hi neighbours,

i was reading my own posting and realised that i might offend ppl with wat ive said above. I have no intention to offend anyone. Especially those having issues with reno process. Im really sorry if I did...i didnt mean it...

Does it sound offending? :bleah: Dun think so la.. :notti:

Anyway, your neighbour opposite has already started

their reno.. You can rest assured now..

I think my neighbour opposite is the only unit in our

floor who has not started anything.. Hope they will

    start soon.. :D

Anyway, what time is your "open house" scheduled

on sat? I will be at my unit too to see the cement screeding

Perhaps we can exchange contact via pm too. :dancingqueen:

  8. Hi Yeoman,

when did you submit the cement screeding form to branch office? Just want to gauge when they will come and do my house... :notti:

    :bleah:

I submitted more than 4 weeks I think..

Must call the contractor to chase. if not

    the HDB officer..

    Gd Luck :dancingqueen:

  9. Hi ,

Can any comment on the following setup :

    Mitsubishi Electric Starmex invertor

    MXY 3A28VA

    MSXY GA10VA x 1 (BR1)

    MSXY GD 18VA x 2 (MBR & Living)

As I had combined my MBR with BR2, hence

need a bigger 18VA aircon for my MBR.

Using 1/2 inch Nyflex(spelling error?) insulation.

Price quoted $3,250 no free gift.

    Expensive? Reasonable?

    Thanks :sport-smiley-018:

  10. Thanks for all the feedback guys.

As i'm only doing a basic setup in my MBR with

a normal 5.1 Sharp HTS, hence the wire needed is of

those basic black & red speaker wires which cost only

    $2 per metre.

As for the brackets, saw a brand called "queenie"

and quite nice looking at Best. Think cost around

    $28++ .

As for my living room, I'm getting Bose which most

forummers are bombarding.. But well, my wife likes

what she hears and refused to give others a chance.

I'm not much of a "audiophile" hence will give in to her

but burn a hole in my pocket for that system.

    The wires alone cost $200++ already~~. !!

  11. Or you can call the main contractor who in charge of our block cement's screed to harass him. If you want, i can PM you his hp. :yamseng:

The main contractor seems quite "yaya"(conceited).

His name is something like Ah Di. He says if

the house is not ready to put in the sand etc or

not cleared, he will then skip my unit and go to the next.

I mean he didn't inform in the first place when he is going

to put in the sand etc, how would I know when he is coming

and then inform my ID. As such my screeding is delayed by

    another day..

Apparently he is much nasty to my ID who requested for

early screeding. He said as long as he do it within a stipulated

timeframe from the date of submission of our screeding, he is

not in the wrong. If want to expedite, get our own contractor to

    do ourself.. !!

Hearing this I'm quite fed up. He better do a good job if not I will

definitely bring this up to HDB.. Talking about s'pore service standard,

he is definitely one who brings it down :yamseng:

    Hi Yeoman,

Perhaps we can exchange hp number. Will msg u when I go down to my hse. Or u can check w me if you are around the area. I need to bring some stuff to my hse on Sun.

Usually aircon, we will request for them to make 2 trips. One is to do the piping. One to do the installation. Once piping up, you can get your ID to arrange for the painting to be done. Dun worry abt dirtying your walls during installation as the first coat of paint may not be perfect. Must ensure you chk with PI's eye cos for mine, I saw some "tear like" coat on some part of the wall and told my ID to touchup.

As for the aircon, I think the price difference can be few hundreds. My source also through natural cool. But my ID told me cos they dun get much inverter aircons from Natural Cool, their price may not be competitive. If your piping not done, you still have time to source around.

Thanks for the advise. Actually my aircon piping is already done.

So 2nd trip will be to install the aircons only. You have pm~~

  12. I started my renovation on 19/3. Aircon piping up already. Aircon man fixing my aircon next mon if ok. Din get the aircon thru ID cos I wanted inverter and after comparison of price, got it from o/s.

I signed with them at Expo exhibition somewhere last quarter of 2007. If you want to view my house, maybe you can come on Sunday. If you are ok with Sunday, then I will check my hubby's timing.

Oic, thanks for the quick reply. wow, your aircon coming soon.. Hmm, meaning

your painting works will be done by mon? I'm also getting an inverter..didn't really

went to compare prices. Heard pretty gd reviews about Natural cool so just went

ahead since my ID can coordinate with them for me.

Most prob I will come on sat as hdb arranging the cement screed that day.

Want to make sure they do a gd job. Perhaps you can let me know wat time

you are going down to your house? Will drop by if i'm free on sun.

    Thanks~~ :drunk:

  13. Thanks yeoman,

I'm staying in the 16th floor. Left with carpetry, grills, lightings etc. My ID is Kenneth Tan. How about yours? How do you find him or her so far?

Mine is Flora. So far so good..She's very patient

and gives practical and creative solutions.

But I leave my rating for her till the completion of

the whole project. Hope nothing big crops up.

Hmm, so when did u sign up with them and when did

your first work started? would like to see your house

tiling works. Not very pleased with mine and wish

    to compare. :dunno:

    Your aircon pipings up already?

    :bangwall:

  14. Hi Yeoman,

Just realised that we are using the same ID company. May I ask which floor are you staying in Blk 79B? I would love to take a look if you dun mind

    Hi Toppie,

I think there's a few 79ers using the same ID company.

There's nothing much to see at my house now other than the

covered tiles and wiring works.. next week the false ceiling

and cables for aircon will be up. :notti:

Anyway, just wana kaypoh, which designer are you using? You already

    signed the dotted line??

    Btw, i'm staying on the 6th storey~~

same lvl as Liana79B. Feel free to drop by~~

    :)

  15. Oh dear... mine's also like this in MBR. :notti: Shower area on left, door to toilet (facing sink and mirror) @ middle, and WC @ right.:lol:

Mine too..haha. But I think its better than that

of when we open the toilet door, first thing to

see is the WC..(read from somewhere..)

At least mirror can shift?? :dribble:

Please correct me if I'm wrong. :notti:

Oh, you didn't know that lady too.. At first we thought she's you or your friend..

    Cheers

  18. hi hi

Did anyone hack the wall between MBR and BR2? Can I check with you how long the HDb take to approve the hacking? or has HDb reject the hacking for anyone before?

Seems like HDb has taken a long time and until now haven approve our hacking application. our hacking was submitted about 3 weeks ago... :P

thanks in advance for advising me...

I waited for my permit for 2 weeks as well.. Got frustrated and called

the HDB officer and it was approved with 2 days.

Your ID should know which officer is in charge of the hacking matters.

I called the HDB officer personally to expedite.. He claimed that the

form was not fully completed thus caused the delay.. :notti:

If it was not completed at least call and inform.. But actually the form is

    requesting for duplicate details...

    ok...will let u know

Wow Liana, your reno progress is really going fast!!

Think mine currently only just hacked the wall...

Hopefully more works will be up soon next week :curse:

  19. Possibly similar price or slightly more, but no idea, Anyway, I just get it reserved 1st thru one of the authorised dealer and if the price differ alot after launched as compare to others, I will tell Pana I'll buy from others instead since my set already reserved by Pana for me. Heard from Everjoin's personnel they had 40+ booking already for the 403V. Not sure whether is it true.

Wow, didn't know this model is so popular among renotalk!!

Was initially looking at the samsung fridge T41 or something..

But later saw tis model which my wife prefers more..

Since 403v coming soon might as well wait for it.. No rush though

as i'm only moving to my new house in early June.. Any shops

to recommend to get it other than Everjoin?

Btw where is everjoin situated and is the new 403v model physical

    appearence the same as 420v?

    Thanks

  20. Me and hubby were looking at putting a pool table in the house so came across this guy who does wholesale for pool table (limited choice) but quite a good range of gym equipment.

Went to the showroom and took a quite glance 2 days back and the price seems quite reasonable :~

    Here's the contact:

    Poolworld Entertainment

    http://www.poolworld.org/

We spoke to Ron, he seems quite an ok guy, and patient to walk us through the limitation of having a 9 ft table in the dining room, and the cost of adding a convertable table top.

Still thinking about it though... :~ but hubby is a pool fanatic... keke

Cool, i kinda like the 6" folderable pool table with the option of table top.

can be used as normal study table for common room and also for some

pool session~~ but the cost will total up to 800++.

The 5ft one only cost 300+.. :good:

  21. Dear All,

I'm a newbie here. My unit at Blk 79B is undergoing renovation now. Hope to be able to keep in touch with our friendly neigbours in our near future.

Btw, does anyone has any contact for curtains?

Welcome toppie, another to the big family.

Glad to find another 79B neighbour. :yamseng:

Search the internet for jimmy textiles.

(I'm not related to jimmy textiles. Only heard gd reviews by friends)

    !!

  22. I heard good reviews for Jimmy Textile too~~

Will most likely be getting my curtains from them too.

Anyone who are buying from them please let the boss

know that we are from TPY Blk 79.

May get more discounts if many of us are getting our curtains

    there. :dunno:

Can olso check out Jimmy Textile from City Plaza. A few forumers uses them.

  23. Any pics? Looking for a sofa set too~~

Please post some pics and advise where is

the best place to shop for sofas~~~~~

Biggest show room is at Compass Point. Tiong Bahru plaza branch also not bad in their range.

My L-shaped sofa is under $500... but I bought another set of spare covers at $98.

    Happy hunting! :notti:
