Oh... that type. Yes, it's quite interesting. But since, my service balcony is kinda small, hence I look for something that can be stacked.
but the brandt/thomson machine's drum spins front-load styleit's just the loading is done from the top :notti:
-
yes, I guess people preferences are different. For example (brand aside) I prefer LCD compared to Plasma. I prefer front-load washer compared to top-load. I prefer Induction hob compared to gas.
Cheers
guess all of us have our own 'best' brand in mindi.e. product that suit our lifestyle the most
difficult to finger a best for everyone as everyone's needs are different
just to share some of my personal favourite, maybe you want to check them out as well
1. tv - pioneer plasma
2. washer - brandt/thomson slim top load
3. hob - turbo
4. knife - kyocera
5. fridge with freezer - ariston
6. fridge w/out freezer - F&P
-
The ceramic knife? I love it to cut fruit. But can't really use it for meat stuff, it chip off quite easily.
I kinda regret buying their santoku. But love their utility knife
4. knife - kyocera -
By "best" means by technical specification.
If I need to draw handphone analogy, I don't think Vertu is the "best" phone, although it is freaking expensive. Vertu lack lots of features of modern mobile phone.
However, it is true that in general good stuff comes with higher price tag
Maybe when u mean "best" is "best deal". The list I make is not a "best deal" list. For example, I don't think De-Dietrich is "best deal". Their sister product Brandt is a better deal for the dollar spent. In practice, I will go for "best deal" stuff, but it is nice to have "the best" list handy
by best you mean most expensive?disagree with most leh
Yes, it is a lot cheaper. Clementi Electronic Centre.
Hi gosaldar, may I ask where did you buy your Panasonic NRD511x fridge? Am going to buy this one too and your price is much cheaper than in Harvey Norman. -
This post is a note for myself. Basically in list down the "best" stuff that I've come across during my research for reno.
Air Purifier: IQAir
Pitcher Water filter: CleanSui
Fridge: Sub-Zero
Hoods (circulation): Fujioh
Hobs: De-Dietrich (Induction) & Rinnai (Gas)
Oven: Miele (Pyrolitic)
Knife: Zwilling-Henckels (Miyabi)
Washing-Machine: LG (Steam Direct Drive)
TV: Sharp Aquos

Hmm, when last week Roy get his guy to install the kitchen cabinet, that means it is just kitchen cabinet. So, no work-top yet
Gotta wait till this Saturday before having the Solid-Surface installed.
Also got to change my sink tap, since we just realize the model we purchase is too tall (my clearance from the sink to the top dish-drainer is only 50cm.
Still too tired to get more photo

Directly from Assa Abloy (Ubi Ave).
Bloody far away. Before u get there, (if u replacing ur current deadbolt) make sure u note the current deadbolt model number, or measure the dimensions (such as centre to the edge of door, etc). there are too many types of locks.
Hi gosaldar,May I enquire where you've purchased your Abloy locks from?

Already move in
Moving house is very tiring business.
Now waiting for Roy to get the Kitchen Cabinet installed on Thursday.
After that I'll post more photos.
-
Additional damage
- Henckel Twin Cuisine knives set ($600)
- $99 normal vacuum cleaner. No more money to buy nice Karcher
- Abloy locks ($650)
-
Which Abloy padlock / cylinder you use?
I heard that Abloy Protec is virtually pick-proof, and it is also freaking expensive.
-
My kitchen cabinet he say will take 2 weeks plus.
Anyway, I'll move in this friday. So, for a week I won't have kitchen.
Today they'll finish the painitng touch-up.
Tomorrow will be the wardrobe & aircon-blower.
Thursday will be more touch-up. And delivery of eletrical appliances.
Almost there.....
Same here. Hopefully, my carpentry will be good. -
Just check my house over the lunch time. Morning they have clear up the debries and this afternoon will be chemical cleaning.
I take same picture before left with my mobile phone. Some pictures are stitched with software (hence the distortion).
Generally satisfied. Except that the carpentry work seems to take ages.
Here are the pics:

Yesterday get a contractor (recommended by KDK) to install 2 ventilation fans (15WHPA).
Quote me $320 each. Quite expensive (see thread by mace). But since I don't have time for DIY, and it seems the price is about there when getting contractor (after reading several threads), so I don't bother to find more quotation. Will negotiate more bigger item, and close one eye for cheaper items.
Today having lunch at Anchor Point. So drop by Ikea to buy NORBO drop-leaf table ($59) to use in the kitchen. The idea is fantastic

Thanks for the tips. I've bought my dining table and sofa from "The Home Merchant". They are closing down their showroom at IFC (going to concentrate on trading), hence have a great sale. I got a very solid extendable teak wood dining table for only $300 . I also got a 3 seater (so-so in the design) sofa for $200. The sofa I think just for temporary. Want to save money to buy a good leather sofa in the future. Haven't bought any coffee-table nor tv-console.
Also got damage from buying a bunk-bed (metal, below Queen size, top Single size) from HDB neighbourhood furniture shop. Total damage (with mattress) is $720.
Arghh... Still lots of thing to buy. Door knobs (and lock-set), curtain railing, etc....
Wallet very dry already....
Indeed S&C is very popular here and I have bought my dining set from them. But then, would advise not to expect much in their showroom which I think is quite small. Better to shop around first, looking at design of furniture at various places before paying S&C a visit. Cause most of their products are inside catelogues. And be prepared to wait for a month or so for the goods to be made to order and delivered. -
:-)
Actually I prefer those bigger vanity top. But bathroom size limit what we can get
hey, i juz saw that you have the same basin (not the glass one) as me!! -
Thanks a lot :-)
Will probably go there tomorrow. Need to get a dining table.
I think there might be a ferry service from the nearby MRT. Check that out. -
Hi!
I'm not buying sofa at TV at this moment. Have dry up my budget buying the rest.
My philosophy is that better not to have it rather than compromise on the quality. Most of the stuff I get, I believe they are of pretty good/decent quality, although not very high end. And I don't believe in taking reno-credit. So, this reno use 100% cash. So, wait for end-of-the-year bonus before do 2nd round of reno next year (tv-console, sofa, 2 wardrobes, windows, and another full-height kitchen cabinet).
The 3rd round of "reno" (2010) will be the beautifying stage, things like nice wall-clock, painting, display cabinet, pottery, carpet, etc.
Back to ur question. No I haven't been there yet. I've gone to Park Mall, IMM, Ikea, Tradehub & Furniture Mall. Yet to go to Sungei Kadut. Really no time....
Sungei Kadut is very troublesome since I don't drive.
Hi Gosaldar,Reading the postings, it seems tt they r good in offering competitive prices but delivery wise not so prompt.
How abt u? U bought from there before?
I went to Furniture Mall, Sungei Kadut & TradeHub21 & IMM... I'm actually looking for a 9f long L-shape sofa type (canvas type). And wat they r offering is more than 2K. I need to meet my budget of 1.2K ...
so we r still sourcing..

I heard Mesin Furniture is quite cheap. Often come out in Newspaper Ad
Me also looking for nice sofa. any recommendation? -

- Washer+Dryer. LG WD-14361TD + TD-C70040E ($1.7K)
- Microwave. Panasonic NN-ST557MYPQ ($150)
Think will postpone the TV and sofa.
Need to get dining table.
Looking for something similiar to this Ikea table

Ha ha ha... Good guess
Yes, that is the 'dilemma' of becoming famous. There are quite numbers of good ID out there as well. If u read more of postings in this forum, u can find them :-)
Good luck with ur hunt for ID.
Hi gosaldar, you new house is very near to my current house. I think you bought your house at $488k based on the HDB resale transaction info.I was talking to Roy yesterday for my renovation quote, he mentioned he just came over from your house (we met at 815pm). Hope your renovation turns out well. I have not decided on my ID yet, yesterday i met 4 IDs. So far 3 turn well quite well, 1 so so only and anyway he had rejected my job thru email today citing he can't cope with my tight timeline.
