Experience Of Air Conditioning Living Room And Staircase Area In Hdb Em?

Does anyone has experience to share about air conditioning the living room and the area next to the staircase on the first floor in an HDB EM? In particular for the area next to the staircase, must the air-cond work very hard in order to cool it reasonably, because the open space extends up to the second floor?

In order to cool the 1st fl EM, it is advisible to install 2 air con units to be placed in the living room and the dinning area where the stairs is according to my air con contractor. These 2 Air con units cannot share the same compressor with the 3 air con placed in the 2nd fl bedrooms if you are intending to on them together with the bedrooms air con as the cooling power will not be enough.
