  1. Think my reno finally come to the finishing line, at least for now. Infact, there is still 1 outstanding item - the safety railing which the PE did not chase my ID for it. We paid our very last payment last Saturday and received our certificate of warranty from Ideal House.

Just a simple rating on our ID and her company - Ideal House.

Overall, we are quite satisfied with Lynn's service and i will give her a 9/10. Initially, i find that she has some attitude problems to the extent that i asked my hb to liaise with her  . However, she is pretty efficient with rectifications on our project, at least.

Pricing - 9/10. Ideal House is quite reasonable except i find their quotations for wardrobes and feature wall a bit on the high side. Looking at the extent of the reno works given to them, we are quite happy with the final quotations + foc items.

Tiling works - 9.5/10. I think Ideal House is very strong in this. My friends who visited us commented that they did a good job which made me understand why Lynn keep praising her workers on this. But the shifu abit stern looking

Carpentry - 9/10. Quite nicely done except the workers have some attitude problems. But kudos to them, they are the team that work till near midnight on our last lap of rushing to move-in.

Electrical works - 9.5/10. I like this groups of workers best. They are very friendly and hilarious. (The only group of worker which i treated them to snacks :P .)

Painting - 7/10. If i have the time and money to spare, i might engage someone else to do the job. He was extremely slow, taking his own sweet time when we were all rushing to finish asap. He is the only one who needed so many breaks in between. Not that we dun allow the workers to rest, but if you see others working hard, dun u think u need to do the same or at least take lesser breaks.

Plumbers - 9.5/10. Another groups of workers whom we can joke with. They are helpful to even install the many paintings (11 in total) we had bought.

Cleaning - 8/10. This worker is abit better than the painter. However, communication break-down causes some mis-understaning, luckily its not a big issue.

In summary, we will definitely recommend Ideal House (not necessarily our ID) as we find the other IDs are friendly too. Think we manage to make some of them laugh when we were at the showroom discussing with our ID.

  2. Process has been smooth so far but it is the buying of the stuff that is giving us headaches, especially when Lynn herself can't remember the contract from time to time and thus, even calling up to check things with her at times can end up more confusing than before...

    will post some pics later...

Hmm, wow lately she muz b very busy lor. Shall wait for your pics then.

  3. yup, we have shifted in.

actually we have not spoken to the ID @ all since the HO, neither has he called us; all that has transpired have been smses, with silly replies from him. patience has finally worn thin. we were initially still able to tolerate, till the nonsense fm his sub-con.

thanks for the compliments on the house; we like to credit ourselves on that tho, haha. cos the furniture; colour coordination of the soft furnishings were all our own ideas - no input fm the ID @ all - either he isn't too inclined towards such a theme, or just bochup?

anyway, we share the same sentiments as ur fren, prodigor.

I hate ID with no inputs leh. For us, i must compliment my ID who come up with her own suggestions. Tho' we did not accept 100% but muz say some of her suggestions are rather useful and make our life much easier. Maybe u should talk to your ID liao. We moved in with o/s works and its a chore to clean up after works done, hate it!

  4. Heng you said it looks neat. LOL. Cos, sometimes I still wonder if a laminated boxup will be nicer? ;)

We got our electrician to fix it for us. Haha, we were making use of all the contractors when they were still renovating the house then. Guess, you can always ask your contractor to do it for you too.

Unfortunately, the painter finished his job then  and got to DIY myself.

Think since u painted it white, it seems to flush well with the wall colour. I think i will do something similar for my parents' room if i can cos the wire still messy despite i coil them as neatly as possible liao. DIY is fun but not easy. Hope u dun mind if i show this pic to my ID, wil disturb her soon hee.

  5. its very impt to have good after-sales service... thumbs up to you for having a good ID.

we r beginning to get cheesed off by our ID - still many outstanding stuff, and response takes forever. TERRIBLE AFTER-SALES SERVICE!

Agree. I can understand if we have to chase until our hand ache (for pressing the mobile too many times), till the throat dry (for keep talking and talking) and get all the heart pain and frustrations in the end. However, i must say your house turned very very nice with many thumb up pics. U moved in already right?

  6. Though our living room is quite complete, we asked our ID to add a 'S' Shelf for display purposes.

Complete living room with the 'S' Shelf:

Thanks to my ID and her workers, they help us to hide most of the wires, making the place looke so much neater.

Bedside wooden ledge (1 on each side of the bed) added for my parents:

  7. Been a while since my last update. We have moved in to the new place for 1.5 months already. Though there is nothing to WOW about the design, we love our simple and cozy lodge, even my toddler now prefer to stay at home than to go gai gai

Some works were carried out after we have moved in. Some pics were uploaded, pls ignore the mess in some of the backgrounds.

There is a flap in one of the shelves which can be opened should the need arise to repair/adjust the pipings behind the shoe cabinet:

  8. Wow, then I think mine will have to wait even longer liao. My window grill not yet install also...hahaa

But my may be an isolated and complicated case which is no fault of Lynn or ours - its the HDB! As for the handles, juz happened we broke one so ask her to replace all for safety reason.

However, she is rather efficient with her after-sales service.

  9. Mine tile finised, doing electrcial now. Ask lynn to change 1 of the room colour too as found it not nice. I told her I not hurry to move in and she really take own sweet time... . I think merryman start this week liao

Ya, u believe that my reno not fully complete? Today, her worker came to install grilles at my balcony and we have paid her to replace my handles for all windows and this will only be done next week (hopefully) :D .

  10. Oh tt's nice to hear. Btw, why did you decide on Ideal House in the end ah?

Nowadays a lot of ID charge GST. 7% is a lot of money! :( Luckily Ideal House don't charge :)

Haha, why did we choose Lynn from IH? We never really give it a thought, hmm, maybe we felt comfortable talking to her and of cos, their price is the lowest quotation we have got in the end after some freebies here & there. So far, my ID is very efficient with her after sales service lah.

  11. Hi Everyone,

I am going to meet with Johnny from Ideal Home. Will update again. :)

Meanwhile though, has anybody here taken up their Elegance Resale Package before? http://www.idealhouse.com.sg/promotion_elegance.html

Their price is quite competitive and seems like exactly what I want. Just WONDERING, do any of you know if there are any possible hidden costs?

    Hi

i took their Elegance Resale Package. No hidden cost, additional charge only on things u did on top of the package deal.

  12. hahahah tis is funny abt the toilet bowls!!!! Yes, i ever thought of it too. Will post pics if i can get it done. lolz

I do it on the taps coz is quite difficult to maintain as it there are alot of water marks all over. To keep it sparkling throughout, i think u can see in the movie only. Since i m bored, kena aeroplane by my contractor for weeks, so i super eng lor, then starts to look for stuffs to do lor. Show you my border mirror, u like it? Hey btw where is yr decal pics??

    CIMG0667.jpg

Very nice :dribble: . I did go to Daiso to get some decals and decorate a plain art folder which i use to store my certificates. Maybe i take a pic to show if got chance.

  13. Hi pbtgal,

Ist one... I didn't see it at GMarket after I bought it from the stall. But I know they will have all the decals... I'm looking to get the cartoon ones from there for my boys' room.

My wife was the one putting up the decals while I 'directed'. haha. Actually.. she's better at such stuff lah.. that's why.

Only thing is that she wanted to follow the example provided in the box... so not much 'creativity' there.

thinking of customising for the glass at my kitchen... you know how much customised ones will cost?

Oh, i dun have experience in customizing but i know it depends on sizes. Maybe, can check out some of the online stores like http://www.decorettestore.com and http://www.lush-affairs.com.

  14. It's been a long time since I last updated... either too tired.. or just losing steam.. but prob essentially.. there's nothing relevant worth updating.

Anyways.. my wife just put up our first 2 wall decals. Overpaid for them as we bought on impulse at a booth in Tampines 1. Subsequently, I didn't see them being sold at GMarket.. though I'm sure the seller can easily get them.

This one is in our living room, opposite end from the TV console. Wifey's neck was all sore from having to stretch like a giraffe... this is especially tough.. given that our ceiling is high .. and we are not exactly giraffe material.

This one is at our master bedroom. They also provided colourful bits of stickers that could be used to adorn the attire of the figures...
