    just to share..

    me and my wife went to the furniture fair at expo sometime in May 2011. we saw a dining table which we like and we were told that the shipment is in mid june. we paid full as its their policy and we waited.

    about mid june and my sales person called me and say my shipment will be delayed till early july. i was angry but after discussing with my wife we say ok we will wait.

    early july came and the same salesperson called me and say my shipment will be delayed till end july. i was pissed off. the guy reassured me that it will be here and i say ok you better make it happen.

    now is end july and the same guy called me and say it will be after national day. KKN~!!!!!

    our hiro is a strong fighter as he fought bravely and headed to heaven at 10+am today..

    although we cannot accept his premature departure from us, he left with us all the happy memories which we will treaure within our hearts..

    our little angel in heaven, be a good boy at your new home and look over us from there... daddy and mummy will miss you from here..

    hiro has been sick since thursday (18/09). my wife noticed that he was having diarrhoea + vomitting and its only the 4th day he was with us. the pet shop wanted us to send hiro back to them as they will send him to their vet and cover any medical charges as a result.

    his condition fluctuates and on saturday the pet shop called us late at night that there is stool in his blood and wanted us to be 'prepared for the worst' as the bacteria infection might have attacked his organs.. we asked what virus he is infected but the pet shop refused to let us know.. :dunno:

    yesterday the pet shop informed us that hiro is very weak.. :help:

    haizzz... my wife has been weeping everytime she thinks about him.. :~

    we really hope that he can recover but will there be any implications to his health as a result of this? :help:

    isit expensive? i really want to hv one at home, and this is the first time for me

    its more ex than usual but this breed meets our requirements so we feel its worthy.

    these were taken 2 weeks ago when we visited him at the pet farm. after 3 weeks of long wait, he will be coming home this sunday for the lantern festival! my wife sure going to be really excited~ :sport-smiley-004:

    hi there, i'm also facing the same dilemma as yours.

    now that i've married and moved to my new house, mrt is just minutes away. parking at office is not free either. since then, i've stopped driving altogether and take public transport to work. my car now resides with my parents who use it only once or twice a week. well, i only use it when i need to carry heavy stuffs.

    after calculations, i actually find that its not very worthwhile to convert to opc for used cars. if you do a trade-in for a new opc car, you will probably have to re-finance the loan again which is undesirable in my opinion.

    anyway i do have the intention of selling mine probably within a year, unless i find a new job which needs me to drive because of the distance and time savings.

    due to the limitation of space and budget, our concept is "modern minimalistic" and we try to keep to the minimum and less fancy stuffs.

    Hi, thanks for your detailed reply. It's certainly useful for us to invaluate our work too. Cannot really imagine your bomb shelter cum shoe cabinet concept leh. Would be wonderful to see more pictures of it...if you have time to take and post. No obligations of course.

    On your reno cost, 16K including floorings is not that bad actually. Me and my bf also 'designing' the place ourself but may use an ID just to supervise the work. Preliminary quote is approximately 20-25K liao...excluding the eletrical points, lightings, etc. Sigh...such easy money for them to make :(

    for the bomb shelter interior its still being used as a storeroom. its only the exterior of it we did the shoe rack to cover the door. sorry if my description earlier is misleading :bleah:

    i also received quotes up to 23k for the same/lesser work. if you want to save cost, my only suggestion is to put in more time and effort to check out the various ID/contractors around giving them the same specifications throughout for a fair comparison. fyi i got about 10 quotes in all before signing on the dotted line. no choice.. i've limited budget so every cent counts.

    also if you want to save $$, minimise the work as much as possible esp the carpentry. forgoing a feature wall will probably save you about $1k+ each, giving up on a wall partition will save you another hundreds, and the list goes on. at the end of the day, remember that renovation adds no significant value to your home when you want to sell it, and you can't take remove them as and when you like it. so just spend on what you need and whats necessary. :yamseng:

    [Hey hi, nice bedroom. Cosy with the string curtain. A couple of question if you dun mind bro :P

    1. Your dinning mirror is half across only? Nothing on top and below right?

    2. How much and where you bought your coffee table & dinning chair huh?

    3. How much is your total damage to the house reno? Lost touched a bit :P

    4. What did you do for your bomb shelter & how much huh? We are still exploring our options for the bomb shelter.

    On a overall, GREAT JOB!!!! It's so nice and cosy. I am still so green with envious of your concealed piping in the toilets :(

    thanks for your compliments~ btw the string curtain is there for fengshui purpose to act as a barrier from facing the bed to the door.

    1. yup. half mirror only. top portion reserved for glass shelves for putting up photos.

    2. can't really remember how much i bought them but they are from s&c at amk. be warned that you cannot see and feel them at the shop as we ordered from catalogue. design is ok but the quality is so-so only.

    3. total cost is 16k excluding furniture, electrical, lights, accessories, etc. 16k plainly goes to the pocket of the renovation contractor. design excluded as well as they simply follow what we want. :paint:

    4. bomb shelter we do shoe rack throughout. abit wasted as me and wifey don't have many shoes to begin with. excess space being used to keep the misc stuffs. cost is about 1.3k. if you also dun have many shoes then why not make some shelves for putting up those lovely dovely pics or decos or collectors absolut vokkas?

    boxing up the piping will certainly make the kitchen/toilets look neater but its additional cost which can actually be used in other areas, unless cost is not an issue for you. another way to look at it is to try to place cabinets, etc at those places where piping are so you can sacrifice abit of storage space and yet achieve the comestic purposes.

    Ya, my no. is even bigger at 349, i think, **** anxious wait...but 3rd floor is good enough :)

    mi lor, going to consider changing the box's grills to acrylic pieces? One of the neighbours did it, quite nice..can keep away pests from outside especially if you have aircon trunking.

    u mean the ones in the toilet? hmm.. i guess i'll stick with them first..

    Oh my bf just corrected me too. The only top floors one left during our turn were the smaller unit ones. Like 75sqm...if I am not wrong. And also the ones near the coffeeshop ones. Me also quite blur la. What block are you again huh?

    hmmm.. i almost gave up also after knowing that the 90m2 are no longer available.. but we still decide to get them as the height and location is simply too difficult to resist :thumbs up:

    I finally modeled a 3d layout of my MBR. Sorry i took so long to reply. According to my HTB, bed should not be facing the window, so he prefer this arrangement. The toilet door is not directly facing the bed so is this bed arrangement okay ?

    just sharing what i know about bed arrangement.. not to be taken seriously as i'm not an expert :bleah:

    your bed has a solid wall as the head so its ok. not facing the door also so it should be fine. left and right got equal spacing so its ok as well. franking speaking i don't quite understand what your mother means walking into a funeral..

    maybe just check what is your kua number as well as your partner's? if possible your head when resting on the bed should be pointing in the 'good' direction..

    wow...you so lucky. anyway, we almost got blk79 too. our ballot number was 48 and by the time it was our turn...NO MORE HIGHFLOOR! and we din want the one at the last block...think it's E. above coffeeshop...we dun like. hehehe

    your ballot number is from the feb balloting? i got number 55 and there are still quite a few high units left after me. why didn't you choose them?

    for the box-up of pipes you can refer to my earlier pics of my toilet and kitchen...

    oh wow. good buy indeed. I have yet to decide what kind of curtain 'type' to use as I think there are two kind? With rod or with tracks right?

    Any comments about boxing-up the sewage pipe in the toilets? I am very particular about things that stick out like a sore thumb. I have heard some people who discourage this as they said it will not last or not permitted by HDB actually. Would love to hear some ideas and feedback. How else to conceal those ugly pipings?? :(

    if you are considering between rod and track i'll recommend rod. coz its easier to change as just need to button/unbutton. track kind still need to take out the metal hooks which can be very troublesome, esp when the hooks start to rust...

    box up the piping will certainly enhance the appearance but be prepared that the toilet will look smaller than you expected.

    Your contractor should bear the cost of changing to white for you. His mistake anyway.

    the last installment is still with me so i'll make sure that the contractor do something about it..

    Looks like you managed to squeeze in the dresser + wardrobe in your room. Frameless bed does save space considering that room size is not big to begin with. :)

    I like how the floor tiles look in straight lines in the living room based on your floor plan. Makes living area look bigger now that I can see it. :)

    yah.. the most headache place is the MBR as its really very small. me and gf tried very hard to decide how to place the various stuffs while fending off the constant "psyco" of the contractor to hack the walls of another room..

    you are right too.. the floor tiles is chosen and laid with that concept in mind, ie to make the living hall look longer and bigger.. :thumbs up:

    Hi,

    I have a small problem at hand. I have a rectangular MBR. The existing wardrobe is at the bottom of the rectangular together with the toilet. The toilet door is concealed in the wardrobe. (You have to go through the wardrobe to go to the toilet.) Currently i plan to put my bed facing the wardrobe not directly in front of the toilet with the back of the bed leaning against the wall opposite the wardrobe. However, my mum says she feel like she walk into a funeral, apparently the bed is the coffin :( (that is where the ex owner place their bed as well). The right side of the MBR has a row of windows; my mum suggested that we place our bed leading on the left side of MBR facing the windows. Is that a good idea? Please advise.

    anyway nice unit you got there.. especially the bay windows which i think is a feature only found in condos.. wondering when will hdb ever have them..

    just my 5 cents thoughts: instead of hacking away the already done up things, i feel that its better to spend the money on additional things like feature wall, painting, furniture, electrical appliances, decos, etc ..

    by the way does it come with air con?

    Think your unit cost about $320k.

    nice guess! its around there. are u a property agent? haha~

    i could have saved $30k if i opt for a low floor unit but me and gf feel that we will make it up for the space with the height. at least if next time we are selling, we can capture those who want the height and location while not so concerned about the size.. another marketing positioning strategy.. haha :yamseng:
