  1. More photos as requested by another forummer Study Room Bedroom Josephine Lamp Kartell Stone Stool
  2. Pinklady, All in all we paid $1,450 (inclusive of racks, beautiful tassle tiebacks, hooks) to Mr Chew. Highly recommended - service, worksmanship and quality of fabric is top notch. Living Room: Black string curtains Off-white/cream organza day curtains Bronze-brown night curtains Bedroom 3: Silver full window rollerblinds Study: Black full window rollerblinds MBR: Silver black string curtains for walk-in wardrobe Dark Grey organza day curtains Silver grey night curtains Silver grey roman blinds Our Ratings for Mr Chew: Service: 4/5 Quality and worksmanship: 5/5 Price: 5/5 Turnaround: 5/5 Reliability: 4/5 We'll post pictures for you to look at the quality.
  3. Hi ilmare612, Thanks for your huge compliment! I'm really surprised by the feedback regarding the sloping cabinets - we took a huge risk when we decided on it but guess I'm not complaining. Regarding the Glamour wallpaper, its was organised by my ID. I still haven't put up photos as the mattress for the house and bedsheets etc are not up. But if you give me your e-mail ID i will send some to you so you can decide. Crockery-wise I like to think we made really good purchases considering how cheap and yet how elegant and chic they look. Actually, we made more buys - with the bulk of them are from OEM wholesalers that actually supply to high end restaurants in Singapore and for European brands. I will put up some photos for fellow forummers to assess and buy them if you like them! The Kartell version at $600 a chair due to its polycarbonate composition is scratch resistant so I think it is ok to buy (if google or go to Amara Sanctuary, the glass pavilion is all victoria ghost chairs and the number of people seated of them and still they are fine so see if you want to reconsider). You can consider buying the cheap copy from Lush, at $1XX per chair, cheap but they are made of normal plastic - buy and throw if you want. The Arco Lamp is what I personally wanted - and my wife gracefully let me have it. I'm a huge fan of the lamp considering that is such a design classic, plus it ties into the stainless steel touch. I think without it the house will lack a classy feel that it provides, but I'm ok if you say it doesn't belong. The box-up, concealed water heater is great - if you and wife can come down, you will see two vent holes below to air the heater. Besides are you planning to on the heater 24/7? My ID has verified its completely safe so if you want to its up to you. Last and not least, my wife and I would like to thank fellow forummers for sharing their tips, ideas, support and homes where we got a lot of inspiration for our home!
  4. Hi all, Thanks for so many of your compliments and well wishes! haroldism, pinkpetter and angel81 I'm surprised that you would like the kitchen - I had imagine people will say the cabinets are wierd and wasteful of 'space'. Strangely my parents didn't say anything about it. I think the sloping cabinets looks better than I thought it would turn out. Thanks, applefreak, we used a lot of stainless steel (and grey/silver) items to tie the look together. Now looking for the finishing touches to complete the look and feel of the home. Still looking for a broque-style bedside table lamp (maybe Kartell's Feruccio Laviani-designed Bourgie Lamp), a modern black and white abstract painting, a black and white abstract-styled carpet, study chairs, vases and small furnishing items, and maybe a chaise lounge chair.
  5. Hi fellow forummers Sorry for the wait (due to rush for CNY, arranging for delivery + work) - but glad to announce that our renovation has been completed! On the whole, my wife and I are very satisfied and happy with the work and service provided by Kenneth and Ideal House team. The renovation experience was easy, fuss-free and very pleasant as Kenneth's team were professional and very experienced. Delivery and completion was also on time. Their level of service, experience, and worksmanship has been nothing less than top class. Even after completion - very responsive to help touch up! As for design I let you guys decide - after all a picture says a thousand words. But my friends and family has been very impressed and complemented us about the look and feel of our new home - even my 100-over-year-old grandmother gave her seal of approval (which is tough considering that the house is mostly black and white)! Kitchen Living Room Veiled by string curtains These are just teasers - expect full photos to come soon (but only after all the furnishing bits are in)! Lastly, I will be providing ratings for all vendors and service providers in my last few posts on this thread so others who are planning or seeking their services know whom to look for!
  6. Updates, updates, updates! Now waiting for tinted mirrors to complete each item! Shoe cabinet TV feature wall Bomb shelter feature wall Considering putting this wallpaper at the back of the living room
  7. Yang Guo, haha glad to be of service! Cher, We paid all in all $5XX (I can't remember the exact amount as the receipt is with my fiancee) for the whole package - which includes the 700" professional stainless steel sink, colander (**** expensive unless you really like it) and tap. Apparently their sink is constructed out of 1.2 mm stainless steel, same thickness as blanco's - to withstand dents and dinks - but at less than 1/3 of Blanco's price! But check though, I recall Blanco a few weeks back they had a promotion for the sink and tap for around $1,000 (if you really like Blanco). Bellari 117 Jalan Besar Singapore 208837
  8. Study Door painted matte black-brown TV feature wall Feature wall for bomb shelter Kitchen Yay! Oven installed Sink and hob installed!
  9. mwerkz, I was just wondering thats all. By the way I saw the same stool available at a small shop at AMK St 1 called S&C going for $70 (without bargaining).
  10. Thanks all, but was expecting more comments to see if I made the right decisions. Living Room: Cream white organza day and dark bronze (100% blackout) Mixed Fabric Night Curtains MBR: Platinum Grey (100% blackout) and silver organza day curtains Study: 1 roller blind in black Bedroom 3: 1 roller blind in silver-grey
  11. Hi pinkpetter, I'm not sure yet - maybe I'm not good enough at visualising! I'm really hoping everything turns out as nicely as according to 3D perspective! So far renotalk forummers haven't been forthcoming with their comments about how the house is coming out - or maybe their expectations are super high!
  12. More photo updates: Kitchen Note water heater above refrigerator space MBR Work in progress Shoe rack TV feature wall - naked worker not included! Bought lots of crockery, received a set of cutlery for Christmas and now looking at curtain makers! Bit by bit we are getting there!
  13. Carpentry has started - some photos from last night's progress! Study MBR Walk in wardrobe Also bought crockery from various distributors/wholesalers. Photos to follow when I get them to the new place!
  14. Hi Rain, We fall in love with the lights from our first look so we really like them too. Our living room walls, ceiling and floor are dark coloured, so we hope the crystals will give it a nice, warm silhoutte! I can't wait to get them installed! By way do you think its not practical? This is much easier to clean than a conventional designer piece or chandelier! We paid a little more though to change the standard crystals to swarovski ones as the colours are so pretty!
  15. Ya, I didn't realise they were affliated to Red Apple until much later. Anyway, the lady - Labon - that served us was really on the ball. Knew exactly when shipments were coming in to Singapore, and reassured that she will keep us informed if there are any delays. Nevertheless, lucky you about the delivery after seeing many complaints from forummers about Red Apple until I am getting concerned. Will keep everyone posted about it. Anyway, Mwerkz, I will help you look out for stuff - if I see anything I will take a photo and post it up for ya. Hope this helps.
  16. Yang Guo, I didn't know that! Learnt something new today! Yang Guo: I didn't know that! I learnt something new today from you!
  17. mwerkz, actually this was given free to us as well. But you can go down to Winter at IFC Sungei Gadok to have a look but think you know that there are many complaints with them. I'm taking a risk because the salesgirl promised to follow-up closely. Fingers crossed.
  18. Hi Yang Guo, What's the difference between stainless steel and chrome? Would it make a huge cost difference? Anyway I got an initial quote for 1.5K including 4 leather dining chairs, but got a bulk discount as I got the coffee table (it is without the stainless steel strips in the photo) and sofa. They also threw in tampered glass for the dining table free. Anyway there are a number of sales now so just look around!
  19. Bought furniture over the weekend! Yippee! Was looking for a modern, contemporary like these, but had to forgo them to seat more people. Philippe Starck Louis Ghost Armchairs White Lacquer Table (with stainless steel legs) Manhattan Dining Chairs (Customised with creamish white leather) Black Lacquer Stool White marble coffee table with midnight grey handsown carpet Low slung contemporary sofa in black fabric finish (not this shade) My WTB loves some elements of baroque, Victorian, Edwardian style furnishing, while I prefer a more understated, chic sleek design so I think the ghost chairs are a great addition to our house! Even the Victoria Ghost Chair looks so nice!
  20. Pinkpetter, most importantly is that the house is done properly. I was hoping to move in before X'mas but better to let them do it at the right pace and get it done right.
  21. Yay! Laminates done! Monday will see the carpentry people to start installing! Off shopping for furniture tomorrow - anyone knows nice places to pick up nice and affordable black glass dining tables, or white lacquered dining tables and white marble coffee tables? Bedroom 3 MBR
  22. PLC downlights and most lights are installed (except dining room light) Kitchen Living room Living Room Third Bedroom Supreme laminates waiting to be laid Ami, ya white bears a risk of turning yellow, but my ID says the glossy finish and the brand he using shouldn't yellow easily. Btw, I saw your posts on your terrible contractor! Should seriously upside down
  23. Hi Ami, Thanks for the comments! We love it too! We wanted something more elegant and stylish, so we are foregoing a small part of our storage space and coupling with square tap and sink. If you notice we also have a black tinted mirror at the end of the table so it will help create an optical illusion long workstation!
  24. Thanks, JYF, here's more photos. Still work in progress though Kitchen More photos: Living Room Hi Pinkpetter, Thanks! Btw, I thought you wanted to move before X'mas? Progress is still slow, or perhaps I'm too eager to see it done. Here's more pictures from today and saturday: MBR Bedroom 3
