  1. Hi,

Anyone can recommend a good brand for microwave. Currently looking at Sharp & Panasonic....for convention and grill.

Pls inputs your recommendation if you are using any good brand that has no probelm and good functions.

  2. anyone know if this company has gone bust? i was driving along changi road and notice that their shop has been vacated with some agent name trying to lease it out. No notice if they have moved or not. :dunno:

I have a gate made by them and it is suppose to be lifetime warranty, who should contact if it rusts tomorrow? :deal:

    Thanks

The last month I was there at their changi office and hear from the salegirl that there are shifting their office to somewhere Eunos industrial estate. The exact location not too sure.....

  3. I am looking at Fanco 3 blade now, after bf made so much noise abt installing a 5 blade in our low-ceiling flat :bleah: Not sure what blade length it offers, though the brochure says 48".

According to the KDK website, the only low ceiling fan model that is approved for HDB flat is 44". IMHO, 44" is quite weak under our hot weather. I think at least a 52" is more suitable, depends on your room size.

U mean the fanco 5 blade give rise to problem or the height that give problem or your bf is too tall? Pls advise. I believe that hdb flat ceiling height is normally abt 9' unless we find a ceiling fan that has short rod e.g KDK 44". As for the Fanco 3 blade, the blade length is 48". But for strong wind it's recommended to get at least 52" and above.

  4. Hi, I need help in my bomb shelter tic tac door problem.

Currently my bomb shelter feature wall"s door is full glass door. After less than 10 months, it started to fall on one side and everytime i opened my feature wall door, the other end of the door base hit my floor. I need a recommendation on what to do. tot of changing the door to non full glass door. please advice whether to change the door or not. Any contractor to do just the door? :(

Since your feature wall is less than 10mths, I suggest that you go back to your ID or contractor who has fabricated this wall as I believe that carpentry come with 1yr workmanship warranty. Ask them to change the door hinge will do and not necessary to change the door.

  5. This is an interesting subject, cos from my research, some say they have this flickering feeling whilst some say no such thing for them.

I think the problem is due to the fan blades are of smooth reflective surface eg. aluminum/acrylic, so any upward lights throw onto the fan blades are reflected down to the floor, hence, causing flickering feeling on us who are standing/sitting below the fan.

    Do I sound logical

Hi ongbpr, so have you bought your ceiling fan? I haven’t ordered mine, still cracking my head to go for 5 blades or 3 blades.

    Hi Yokine9a,

So far have not ordered mine yet...Actually still looking brand like Fanco 54" aluminum 5 blades w/o light kits. And also brand like Crestar and Amasco etc....Hw abt u, any brand in mind beside KDK.

Actually, when searching for ceiling fan the first brand that came to my mind is KDK. Cos oldest brand in the market and i think is reliable. But after finding that there only have 48" and low ceiling rod which is superior to use for hdb ceiling. But only i dun like is the fan wind is not so strong.....might due to the blade length.....

  6. I have seen the catalog of crestar... all are 5 blades with 4" downrod... if I were to add lights kit... worst, even lower... not only my bf can reach the fan blade... I think I can also reach it though I am not tall at all...

I think I will go for 3 blades with no downrod :~

The disadvantages of light kits for ceiling fan is that it will have a feeling that the light is flikering as the rotating blade is mounted above the light kits. That is my sixth sense.

  8. Thanks for yr comment, ongpbr.

AMASCO fans are being retailed at Suntec Carrfour; also several shops at Jln Besar stock the fans. Got mine from a family-run nondescript shop - Licio Lighting Trading at 359 Jln Besar. Also, AMASCO has a website which I first googled to research the brand and quality.

No, it is not true fans are "normally" sold with installation included. Went to several shops, and all of them will quote the retail price w/o installation. If you want installation they will simply outsource to an electrical contractor for the installation (another $50-$100, varies from shop to shop) and quote you the installaiton cost. Same as for water heaters, etc. And fans don't need calibration, but rather re-balancing, especially because the motor head can be tilted and wobble if the fan blades are not equally weighted and balanced.

My ID and electrician helped to install all the fans. The KDK fan initially was silent, but made the sound only 2 days later, so the sound was not due to any inherent technical problem but simply that the wires were too long and should be shortened, which I will do when I hv the time. :yamseng:

  10. BTW, for ceiling fan do not get one with fan blades shorter than 48-inch. I bought 2 sets KDK fans with remote control for my living and dining areas, and as an afterthought, 2 sets of

AMASCO ceiling fans with light fixtures for my bedrooms.

Guess what? After installing the KDK fan in the living room, I decided not to install the other KDK fan for the dining area. The KDK fan has short blades and therefore does not produce a good wind effect, unless one sits directly under the rotating fan. Moreover, the KDK fan is not easy to install and made a "tok-tok" sound as the fan operates, because the wiring interfered with the housing around the motor head. In the end I left the housing out.

Also, I am surprised few forumers mentioned local product brand AMASCO. I am very happy with the AMASCO fans installed in my bedrooms. The wind effect is strong, the fan operates silently and without any wobble, and overall gave me an impression of excellent product quality. And the 2 AMASCO model fans I bought were much cheaper than what i paid for the KDK fans.

    :yamseng:

    Hi Bluefly,

I think you must have got your ID to install your KDK fan. I believe that you need to get the qualify KDK techinican or the dealer technicain that you got the fan to install and calibrate your fan instead which I think there are more professional. If there are any problem just go directly to them. Normally, when you buy the fan it should come together with the installation package.

Btw, just check with you, do you have the contact for AMASCO fan info. Can PM me. Thanks.

  12. i am intending to do window grilles also. something like the picture below, just the middle portion where the windows swing out.

gotten a quote for sliding window grilles $480 which includes

    3 x 5ft by 3ft 2-panel windows

    1 x 4ft by 3ft 2-panel windows

    1 x 8ft by 3ft 4-panel windows

for aircon ledge window, was quoted $54 for about 2.5ft by 3ft 1-panel pull-out (not sliding) style.

  14. I personally prefer the PD cos no track on the base, especically as you might trip over or step on it also quite painful as well. Price wise of course PD door is slightly more expensive than the aluminium bi-fold door.

  15. I also happen to went in their only office @ Eunos and currently having promotion for the standard configuration @ $288 with GST. But for every door a discount of $8 and waiver of GST if pay by CASH/CHQ. I dun known whether we still got other lobang to get cheaper that this price. Any person got good lobang????
