  1. Hi Cher ,

Can I know how much did you pay for the black glass door at your common toilet? I wanted glass door for common toilet but ID thinks it will cause inconvenience to the guests.

How's the spray paint holding up from the moisture from all the showering?

    Thanks!

forgot liao, one or two hundred bah...if u like just go for it. so far my guests have no problem when they use the toilet.

we didnt take shower at the common toilet, but i think the spray paint can withstand any water or moisture.

  2. hi cher,

phew, just finished all 7 pages of your blog...

really love the strong black and soft white theme of your house.....

It blows my mind and err... cant afford the budget though of $110k as it will blow my bank account too.... :P

    Really nice...

    Cheers

u can still achieve that...no pro. think we spent too much on overhauling the existing flat. getting the correct furniture and accessories is crucial. ;)

  3. Hi Cher..

How did you manage with no casing throughout the whole flat ?? How to hide the aircon trunking and cables for switches ?

I want to know what's the layout of both the toilets n WIW ? I love your iron gate n main door ...where can I get them ?

    Oh dear...I love your reno...

  4. hello everyone

my existing living room flooring is marble and we do not like the marble; intend to replace it with tiles

in this case, we have few options:-

    1. hack and then lay new tiles = expensive to hack

    2. overlay with laminate = but taking a risk coz must see foundation good for laminate or not. and do not like the wood grain look of laminate

    3. overlay with tiles = can this be done? what are the risks i have to take if i dont hack the marble away first?

    any other solutions?

personally i prefer to hack off ext'g tiles and lay new ones

  5. hello cher

    whats a chamfer corner?? :dunno:

Hi, if u look closely at ur floor plan, u will notice that almost all columns at corners are not 90 degree right angle column, including the balcony, there is a 45 degree corner. mine are all in right angle, so there is slight diff between our floor plan.

  6. well, im not an expert in this at all but the spaces in between will definitely show cracks (like my current floor boards at home)...

like i said, i have few layers of whatnots over the floorboard and spaces between the boards to prevent cracking, but it still cracks anyway :(

prolly weekend i'll take a pic of the spaces in between the floor boards. definitely they have something filled in between but im too lousy to know what's that.

afternote: tonight the ID company who has done up my current unit is coming for a meeting for my new unit. i'll check with them (step by step) how they achieve that :P

    Hi,

The layout plan of ur new hse is close to 100% as mine, except that my unit and balcony does not have chamfer corner. i am staying at st 21 blk 21X for a year liao. tat time paid 8.8k for the cov ;) . but for the reno we spent a bomb. :( cos we basically overhauled the whole place

  7. I also receive the 3D visualisation of the balcony from my ID. Unfortunately he did not include any furniture :( .

    Balcony.jpg

My wife and I cannot decide whether we should put high stools and tables at the balcony or those of normal heights. If we choose the former, we will have a better view of the scenery outside (no seaview or lakeview, but at least it is quite unblocked :P ). But it is difficult to relax yourself sitting on high stools. Anyone got any suggestions?

can consider changing a new set of sliding door and remove the ext'g windows and grilles at the balcony. balcony is meant to be open. can forget about the raise platform. use the cost for a new set of sliding door. ;)

  8. 6 more days to collecting the keys  . It has been such a long wait and finally we are going to start renovation next week! Though there will be a long break in between due to CNY, at least we will be able to start seeing our house taking shape :P . After many email and face-to-face discussions with our ID, we have modified the original design quite a bit, mostly in the colour scheme and dimesinons of the carpentry. I am thinking maybe I should compile a list of all the modifications that we have requested and send it to my ID in case he has forgotten.

Before the start of the renovation process, maybe I should post some 3D drawings of the new design:

    Master Bathroom Original Design:

    Master Bathroom New Design:

    Bedroom 3 Original Design:

    Bedroom 3 New Design:

Personally I prefer the stronger contrast in colours in the new design for bedroom 3 wardrobe. The choice of tiles for the MBR bathroom is to give a 'hotel' feel. Hopefully the effect turns out well

personally i think the original mbr toilet design looks better ;)

  9. i'm also doing black and white theme for my house.. can i ask u, what color is ur living room blind?

for black and white theme, must curtains/blinds be black? will it look nice? mine is currently abit yellowish... feels abit off

    thanks for ur help!!!

if u r gng for white n black theme, then the curtains shd follow suit. but if u choose white curtain, it will turns yellowish fast. and for black i think it will make whole hse too "dark". so for us we choose dark grey, but 4got is 50% or 75% translucent, and it turns out well.
