  1. are u staying on the top floor? Got a friend who's EM is on the top floor and she also hate the birds cos they'll wake her up 24 X 7 and she also dont know what to do with the birds. Btw, she extended her living room and build a roof over it so all the birds gather there everyday, especially in the morning.
  2. ic. Cage? Ya, but I've seen many of those staying on 2nd floor especially those units very near to walkway shelter have caged themselves in....some grilles are done in a way that it really looked as though the owners have been imprisoned haiz, I seldom open my corridor windows and always wanted to do roller/roman blinds .....unfortunately also KIV cos boh lui .
  3. how come FS point of view is good? Anyway, my point of view also same as u....boh lui!
  4. my hubby bought from one hardware shop in our neighbourhood then got the contractor's workers to install for us. We did told the contractor that his quotation for the rubbish chute (+ installation) was really too ex and eventually they allowed us to buy from elsewhere n gave free installation. At least yrs a mere $40 difference, ours was almost double and I jokingly asked if my rubbish chute wld be gold plated when I first saw the quotation .
  5. ya, long cos all the way from the balcony ceiling edge
  6. can la cos that's what i intend to do. I've seen EMs doing it
  7. are u extending your living room all the way to the balcony or keeping the balcony? We actually thinking of putting wooden blinds at the balcony but so far KIV first cos boh lui (no $ so talk only) btw, u might wanna check out the bamboo blinds that Gendon got for her place. She got the blinds together with her curtains from Home Curtains and Fabric shop at Blk 2 Joo Chiat Rd #01-1137 Joo Chiat Complex Singapore 420002 (Tel : 6842 7737). She said can look for Mr K T Toh but according to her, dont be surprised with the pricing as materials are considered to be quality mid to high-end range
  8. my contractor also wanna charged me more so I bought the rubbish chute from a shop then get the contractors' workers to install for me FOC .
  9. no choice so there goes my $$$$$. Ya, u must inspect carefully and do proper planning. Do only those that are considered very necessary. Small wage earners like us gotta difference between what are wants and what are needs. u're the 2nd owner of your EM? ya, the 2nd FS adviser also advised us to remove those figurines. Hee hee, I've plenty of hippo, elephants, dinosaurs at home....courtesy from my kids' toy collections....hahaha
  10. that's good. My pre-reno condition was really very bad, some wirings were exposed. We need to plaster the walls & ceilings so opted for re-wiring. Furthermore re-wiring was in the entire reno package so we went for it.
  11. MaCe, need some FS advice from u. Is it true that not advisable for one to place figurines in our house...i.e those zodiac figurines (mouse, ox, rabbit, tiger and so on) ?
  12. If the last reno was 5-6 yrs ago then I think not necessary to do rewiring. For mine, I had to do re-wiring because the reno was already close to 20 yrs .... in fact, entire reno was close to 20yrs so had to revamp the whole unit that's y had spent a bomb to rebuilt everything !! bigger flat, more housework, expenses (bill) higher !! hope can 'fa ta' soon so can get a maid to handle all the housework !!
  13. wow, 2k to repaint whole house? A bit too ex for a mais
  14. hee hee...me doing that and it has gone to my head...hahahaha
  15. 300k is a good valuation. Wish u luck in selling it.
  16. angielim, whereabout is yr EM? The owners had wallpapers for most of the walls? Looks very cosy but i agree that its kinda dark. Keep the cornices as its very nice and paint it white.....
  17. b4 i cld tell hubby abt our dining table being too near the corridor windows which is bad for FS...he suggested changing the position of our dining table, daybed & his fish tank. We're thinking of shifting the dining table nearer to the kitchen entrance i.e dining table wld be on our left if we're standing at kitchen entrance. Not sure if its feasible.
  18. my hubby is one that dun appreciate cos he said the furniture very 'teng kok kok' (hard for his backside)
  19. ya, agree. All kids love the staircase. But after we moved in, my boys started to complain cos they had to go up n down the stairs to get stuff unlike in our previous flat which was so much easier as they merely need to walk to the bedrooms its really good exercise for me though
  20. wow...so many of u paid cash abv valuation. My valuation was 340k back in mid 2005 and I paid 310k. But I had to overhaul the whole **** place and spend about 60k + inclusive of hob, hood, System 3 Mit Inv air-con and sink.
  21. meaning u paid 40k abv val? But if the hse in good shape then ok. I guess u're not doing a major overhaul right?
  22. welcome to Hougang. So yours is over at Blk 700 series. Layout should be the same as mine. I hate my common toilet upstairs from day 1 cos the toilet bowl is right inside how much u paid for yr em?
  23. Just to share Utility room/study room: i think many EM owners knocked down the utility room/study room on 1st storey to accommodate the dining area. I kept mine cos need a place to store all the toys. It'll also double up as a maid's room if i can afford a maid in the near future. air-con: btw, what are yr air con combinations like? I only go for system 3 for the 3 bedrooms as the electricial loading not enough for the living room to be aircon-ed. Furthermore, I kept my balcony so it'll need at least 2 units for the living room/dining room.
