    Your reno not ugly leh, its pretty! i like the living room and Wardrobe 3Ds, so sad to hear that HDB never approved the hacking....

    We are doing an overhaul. The current "design" is no design lo... like houses 10+ years ago.

    Want to hack and change all tiles. But considering laminate for BRs. Anyone wants to share experience on laminates? I am a bit petpeeves over dirty floor. What i heard is laminate cannot mop, can only use magic clean to wipe. If the floor get sticky i will go crazy!

    walau your seller lie to u huh, then poof there goes your dream kitchen lor..okie nvm, i can help u on the laminate question, initally i also got Pergo laminate, family range, initially we took care of the floor like mad, like moving the dinning chair gently over the surface. using only magic-clean friendly dry tissues. And found a magic brand called Sofix for Laminate floors and another brand i cannot rem the name, using that type of cleaner will maintain and keep your laminate floor sparkling and nice.

    I need to shift in so fast coz i already sold my house and by right need to shift out last month but the buyer allowed us to stay till late next month when we take over the new house keys....but recently the buyer asked us to let them have a room to shift in earlier so we bo bian must shift out once take the keys lor :(

    Actually the seller for our new house at first said we can shift in earlier but when we were at the hdb 1st appt, they suddenly said must drag as long as possible for the 2nd appt coz they still haven't find a house and also need to outstation! Walao sibeh frustrated! :curse:

    what the?! they are putting you on a spot by doing that, you good to them they r also not good to you, then dun care leh, just dun extend for you, wait u no place to stay then how? aiyo, u can tell the HDB officer right?

    emm.. the kitchen not sure izzit granite top, need to check once get the key.

    Wanna to know, can we just take our floor plan and approuch the interior designer/contractor to ask them for quotation? or must bring them to the unit? My case, cos there are so many build in done, must tell the ID which 1 wan to keep which 1 don't wan to keep....? I am thinking of give diff ID my floor plan and choose which 1 match my requirement with reasonable price. Will we scolded by ID if we not sign up with them due to poor design / too expensive? As i think they also spent to help us design and end up get nothing???

    yup yup, i agree with the other forummers who responded to you. take the floor plan, have a very rough idea of what you are going to do or hack and the budget, other things the ID will give you ideas and suggestions. plan to have at least a few quotations to compare on the pricing, after that to choose the "one" that u feel most comfortable with and the most reasonable quote lor and to bring to the house for exact on-site measurements to determine on the price

    Thanks. :) Are you referring to my living or bedroom furniture? My living furniture are all from Picket & Rail, made of teak wood. But I find that they are more suitable for resort style theme, not so much of country style. We made the mistake of buying them before reno was completed, then realised they somehow don't quite blend in with the rest of the decor. :(

    Anyway, hoping to sell them off by the end of the year and go for French or English country-style sofa. These are not easy to find either, as most shops here are quite expensive. Maybe will consider custom made ones from Indonesia again, like what I did for my fireplace and mirror. They are dirt cheap and workmanship is much better than most solid wood furniture avail here. Just that it's quite troublesome and take a longer time.

    For my bedroom furniture, I bought them from Country Style Furniture at IFC. They've got quite a good variety, but workmanship is not too fantastic.

    Hehe...my flooring is not laminate. They are ceramic! Deliberately chose timber look-alike tiles for the flooring, cos easier to maintain than laminates. :)

    oh wow your flooring really looked like laminate to me, haha. anyway i love your main living room layout, and your bedside lamp is so cute! heard from a friend that furniture from Picket and Rail is very durable and lasting and good quality. how did you get the lobang to buy furniture from indo? u really paid a very good price for that. i only know that Thomson Plaza there has 1 shop that is selling country furniture, looks very very nice, but very ex for the pocket. Maybe you can take a look there.

    Thanks, pinklady! Yeah, my mom told me to just move in and save the money. Hopefully I won't regret spending a lot on renovation after seeing the transformation. Now that the renovation is coming to an end, I'm now excited to hit the furniture shops. I'll be bankrupt before the year ends.

    yeah man, its like that! did you take a bank loan or a friendly loan by your parents? shopping for furniture is always very exciting, esp looking for sofa, mattrees, coffee table, wardrobe, study table etc etc. you have any theme in mind?

    Haha.. when you think of $$$, sure will forget the idea. I initially want to keep within $25k for reno, electrical appliances and furniture but dun think is possible lioaz.... sigh!

    I not sure if the ID firm is new or not leh...:P

    yeah i look at the pics i like, but then, $25k for reno is very diff nowadays, somemore include appliances & funiture, nope...dun tink so. for furniture i teach u, buy sat Straits Times newspaper go to those PLAYfair road warehouse sales, can save a lot of money....but then bear in mind that the furniture is only very very basic, nothing fanciful at all. electrical appliances can buy at sale times too, where you can get NTUC Vouchers or TAKA vouchers when u buy LCD Tv

    Btw, not sure if it is a silly question or not, but do we need to buy cooker and hob (hob is 抽油烟机right?) or is it usually in the renovation package?

    Some reno package also include things like air-con, TV, etc... is it common?

    not silly q leh. dat time i only deciding between cooker hood and hob. it all depends on your cooking pattern. do you cook heavy duty? or light cooker? Asian cooking? 2 or 3 burners?

    normally my advise to you, better dun take the so called 'freebies' in the reno package! becoz most of the time u yourself the dear consumer will be paying for it! i did went to several ID firms last time, all promising 'freebies' after that i found that in the reno quotes most prices are jacked up....

    The bling bling tiles not cheap, it cost $14 psf :)

    i tink i know why, becoz IKEA tampines more popular so stocks run out faster lor, faster kopi feedback to their cust svc, say we want a telephone update furniture svc. like we call their hotline to check on stock can oredi, no need for us to run like mad like dat

    found that tampines dun have stock but alex got.

    they v clever hor. make people travel to both!

    we bought 3lack shelves which will come tomor! so happy :D

    i also got lack shelve leh mine is white colour, your one leh? ur lack shelves put where one? my one is 110cm. urs?
