    merry man, have u decided who? if not maybe can ask uncle or jason. im sure they are willing to do in "batches" for u. cos that was what he said to me. he said do the ground work, things like carpentry can add on when i have enough money and after living in, can decide better if its needed or not. my 2 cents worth but of course u must have built a certain rapport with uncle too. :)

    thanks to all for their encouragement!! :) actually elder goh is a little like uncle, he doesnt write things down and tends to forget. i'd prefer him to write but ah well!!!

    sat will be a party at my place with the carpenters, ah tan (to shift and add existing points) and perhaps the ppl in charge of overall rectifications work. please let this be the last weekend!!!!

    666 if it is a skinny uncle doing the tiling, i believe he is the master tiler for my house. u will not regret him as he takes a lot of pride in his work and he is most meticulous in all that he does. when he re-did my shower area tiles, he urged me to let him overlay the tiles near the big pipe so that it is nicer to look at. the other tiler could not even be bothered and told him if he wants to do it, do it himself, which he did. he left my place really late at 9pm or so when he came at 9.30am. only downside is he is getting old, eye sight may not be that good as before naturally, so do help him to help u by keeping an eye for the tiling work and point out anything that u find is not right so he can rectify ASAP. its easier for him and ultimately u that way.

    i can understand the inconvenience but try to bear with it. this tiler is really good, and with ample time, i believe his work can last u a really really long time. :)

    just to add, the other tiler with this skinny tiler gave me tons of problems. if u had him i think u will feel more sian than this. his work is not very good, so i had to get them to come in to rectify which is more troublesome. just try to bear with it ok? :)

    hmm i went for this colour called smoky in the living room. kinda looks very light blue + grey. for mom's room, i cant really gauge cos i stupidly bought warm light to put in my room while totally forgetting that i need to work in my room and that light is not practical. so i swapped her white lights with my warm light and now i cant tell her color but its also a plain color.

    my room has a feature color of cocoa.. hard to describe but i have a pic of it in my tblog.. somewhere. :P

    eh pet u've seen him? goodlooking? i find him ok ok leh. young looking but not very young. hahahaha! :P dont say that to him in case i get rubbish work again!

    so its liew not liu huh. can someone take a shot of him so we can confirm? but, from the drawings, i think ivy and i got the same person. confirm already.

    guy77: i think the clutter is starting to get to me. plus moved in but cant settle down cos everything is still in boxes and cant unpack cos all my things have no "home". yup it is coming on sat!! :) that is the only thing i am looking forward to right now!

    cannotisit: yup! that is the good part of last week! now my mind is more at ease. even she commented that the new tiles are fantastic compared to the previous one. right now cant take a pic to show cos the acid wash is not done, so the color of the tiles is still splotchy and whitish. tmr elder goh said he will come and do the acid wash. i really hope so and not drag till sat. cos i foresee a huge mess on sat with everyone coming in!

    thanks for your kind words! but the grass is unfortunately greener on the other side somehow for me. i know i should not compare, but just always wanted a showroom style flat. i guess the house is still unfinished hence im feeling this way. cosy.. not yet, cos its still a big mess. uncle can still ask how's my house. i feel like a squatter in my house now. :P

    PD thinks like me, wondering if its nice. i think it is one thing to have a nice house, another to maintain. my house is in limbo now. ok i will post up pics of the house with the carpentry in on this sat. just really hope it turns out good. keeping my toes crossed!

    i saw your tblog!! will kpo in a bit! :D no need for those anymore! after changing the tiles, i can say it is a 100% difference!! to think my previous tiles were also rought type but somehow it was super slippery when the floor was wet but this current one, it feels great despite water on it.

    oh to be honest, i tried to be meticulous but it is always on hindsight that i feel some things could have been better. but of course i am no ID and that is my excuse. the house is still okay. after looking at your posts on wire mngt, i did not give much thought prior to that and my P/Ps are all over the place now. :P oh well, im used to it! maybe when we get a new place, i can engage ID for design for better productivity flow as well as aesthetics that blends. :) and lastly, thank you. :)

    actually i thought about using the money for my degree but decided to do the reno and i will personally take up a study loan for my further studies. the main motivation for renovating is to let my mom live comfortably for the time she is with me. and i hope that now the house is done up, she can host her friends at home now instead of being shy and embarrassed about the previous state of our house.

    pet, maybe can take a pic of the current state at home to let u all understand why i am a little "sian". cant wait for saturday to come!!!!

    this weekend!!! my house not very nice as compared to others cos no fancy lights and no mbr feature etc, just keeping my fingers crossed that the upcoming carpentry can make a difference to my house! thinking to add 1 more paint color to my wall in the living room if possible. :P im so fickle!!!!

    aiyo so off topic leh all of you! i am really afraid of slippery tiles and number 1 top priority is the safety of my mom followed by me. if she falls its very bad for her due to her age. if i fall i burden her when she needs to take care of me. i have a fear of such falling accidents in the house. my dad was a victim of stroke and he fell at the WC in my house. tho it is not due to the tiles when he fell, i think the fall aggravated his condition and subsequently he passed away. so im quite picky about this. :( dont really like to tell sob stories but just want all to consider the floor tiles especially with elderly at home.

    and pet u are so funny, what lose liao!! same same, pretty soon i will be that age. just keep telling myself forever 21. :P im so in denial.

    ehhehe i think the uncles are nicer and softer to me and my mom cos 一小 一老 so no choice but to give way to us. anyways!! cant wait for the carpentry to come!!! so i can pack my house and start taking pics of my place!! *excited*

    ya they are so nice to redo for me! :) :) :) ya pet, so dirty, everything is so dusty. that is why im so half dead to update today. the cleaning still not done. they still have to acid wash my tiles cos its still dirty.

    blue, haha so pai sei to call me that but to me, xiao gong zhu is like someone spoiled. i dont think i am... and ya pet is xiao mei. i suggested to uncle he can call me xiao mei mei since pet is xiao mei. :)

    my updates for the weekend.

    ah hock's men came over to fix up my glass door in the kitchen as well as to pass me the catalog to pick my window grilles in my mom's room. may i know what is the norm for that? ah hock says its normally aluminum grilles but i think its too plain. shld we stick back to the grilles in the living room?

    elder goh came with the tilers at 9am to redo my bath + WC tiles out of great goodwill! kudos to them for that. I picked the tiles from Sin Lek and this time it is much much better than the previous ones. pls pick your tiles properly and ask for a bigger piece of tiles for those used as flooring to test the slippery-ness. if not u will end up like me, dirtying the whole kitchen just for that. :/

    as for the other uneven tiles, some could be saved with grout, 2 had to be replaced. the tilers left really late! at about 8pm going on to 9pm. so not all the grout was filled and i decided to DIY it myself. turns out that its better that i do it since i can see it and being my own home, i take much more effort into doing it. :)

    hmm maybe u can check with uncle or perhaps elder goh? he is more experienced with tiles. i re-tiled cos my bathroom tiles are way too slippery even with just plain water on it.

    if its one or two, quickly get it changed so when u are set to clean the house, can clean all in 1 shot too. :)

    hi apples, is it on the wall? i think wall tiles are not too bad since u dont step on them all the time and lesser contact with water. telling u from experience that to hack and replace it is very messy and dirty. so u can decide if u want to. i just re-tiled my bathroom + WC. very very super messy.
