mine is at blk 189.. how abt u?u r staying in the block next to ours... hello, neighbour!
we've moved to our place for slightly over 4mths now, and are loving it still
hope u have a smooth reno journey, and do invite us over if there is a chance...
-
beany0811, hi hi...it has been 4mths & our RE-rectifications hasn't been done & we have a Housewarming coming up soon. What a great way to showcase their "project" as I am taking this opportunity to open my place to my friends who are considering engaging them. I will let the results speak for themselves.hey cookies, did u contact ur ID to ask him to rectify the stuff? the stuff which they do for ur reno is under warranty for a yr, so they r contractually obligated to come and rectify any defects.
i think we will also be calling our ID soon, cos there are some stuff we need him to do - cracklines are starting to appear at the areas where hollow blocks were built to cover original door entrances - so we'll be calling him to get his guys to come n rectify that.
apart from that, hope u r having a good time staying in ur new place (just try to ignore the defects till ur guy comes and rectify them)

Wah very long time I did not see you around plus I miss your post the last time paisay le.Oh hub got himself a home system... now my place is also a movie theater
Wah your hub got lots of toys hor.. how to clean like that??? PS: Can see he is a transformer hard core fan
i have been following ur blog tho, heh - waiting to see pic of ur dining table and chairs!
the hubby wanna take a nicer pics without glass doors - he say will prevent reflection
-
its been a super long time since we have updated the blog... its been about 3 months since we shifted into our new place, and its been a period of lots of adjusting... adjusting to facing each other all day, adjusting to having to do everything ourselves and stuff.
been busy with our own work and what not, so haven't been doing much to spruce up the house.
minor updates:
# storeroom racks finally done
# changed rubbish chute to airtight one fm maxden (prevent roaches!)
# the hubby has started assembling his toys in the display cabinet, tho not fully done... hopefully will be able to take better pics soon

also stainless steel piping all got brown water marks!sama sama; so does the s/s downpipe for the sink. i managed to get rid of the brownish stuff on the downpipe after sitting on the toilet floor and scrubbing and polishing vigorously, but the s/s water piping, left it.... after a while, just close one eye.
maintenance take lots of conscientious and diligent effort! which we try to have....but......
-
but bathroom hw to keep things dry?haha
the toilet roll holder and towel racks not too bad, still can keep dry
when u wash the toilet, make a conscious effort not to splash everywhere
if its those corner shelves in the shower area and glass shelves above the sink.....bobian... tt why we got ours changed.
the original ones were quite gross when the guy removed it, tho they were only 2 months old!
-
just curiousif we can remove it
how do we then prevent it from happening again?
keep the stuff dry, and clean religiously every week
-
i tried the 3M stainless steel remover... it will remove, but only if you leave it on the rust long enough, and scrub a few rounds after that.
homefix sells a rust remover which works too, but it will also dull the S/S.
lots of remedies on the internet swear by baking soda/coke/colgate
i have tried pouring coke and using a toothbrush to scrub the rust off - limited success.
has anyone succeeded with baking soda?

hello beany~the Blum system was installed by my contractor~ I bought the system from Blum direct.. for this system, you need to have the exact door weight and the width of the door to calculate the power factor required for the mechanism (could check out Blum's online catelogue for more infor). I'm not sure if Blum can install for you, but you could check with them.. one point to note is that the contractors might not know how to install it at first, best would be to bring them down to the showroom to see the exact system.
thanks! our current one is using the hydraulic system, but we've always wanted the blum...we'll give blum a call and see how it goes, tho we have heard that they dun do direct.
but on a side note, ur house looks great congrats
-
hi cboonh, could i just check if the Aventos HL from Blum was installed for you by your contractor, or from Blum direct?
is blum able to do it if we just wanna install tt system?
-
hey zhiz, we have the same problem, and i have tried all ways and means to get them off.
commercial s/s removers will do the trick....but only for about 2 wks, u will see rust coming back again as long as they r subject to moisture and water
were ur accessories installed b4 or after the chemical wash? the tranishing of the s/s stuff could be due to the acid chemicals.
closed one eye for those which we could, but those we cannot tahan, got it changed to the welmi brand 3 weeks ago... less than 3 months after moving in. HAIZ
-
somehow i realise all negative comments to this company disappears clean fm the forum - if we are presenting facts, why are they always removed?
i've already noticed some instances about this.
-
It does help, where you got the quotation from ?solar film does help... in reducing the direct heat fm windows.
the heat conduction fm the wall will still be present though
-
hi doremon, your quotation for kitchen does not specify whether cabinets come with anti-slam, as well as drawer runners, whether its anti-slam.
get ur contractor to specify everything in black and white - brand of anti-slam hinges, runners for drawers, etc.
ur steel dish rack too - will it be covered or exposed?
and like what the other forummers have said, have the electrical works included - get the cost breakdown point by point, how much it costs to install extra SCV point, etc...
-
just my humble opinion. perhaps, it'd be better if you meet up the customers or fellow forumers who had their house done by the ID you've shortlisted directly. they are more likely to be the people who will give you accurate feedback.
after all, if there are any problems, most likely, they will probably be discovered after the owners moved in or during cleaning.
IDs can bring you to some units but it may not necessarily be their own projects. it could be projects under fellow team-mates that they have access to. also, the same team of carpenters/suppliers/etc may not be used for your project, due to the schedule etc.
just my 2 cents.
-
our place faces afternoon sun too... we have solar films for the windows, but of course, can still feel the heat.
saving grace is the place is rather windy.
if there are any ideas on reducing the heat, would like to hear it too

Hi BeanyWas finding for your post and decided to bring your post up cause its smack below Hahaha.
Oh I got my coffee table 6mm tempered glass already from just near our place and hub self collect. S$60.
PS: Hub also recently got new toys for himself
Have not update my t-blog yet I will do so soon
hi zerochristy! Have not heard from you for a while. How have you been? So what toys did your hubby get lately?
beany your house v nice leh! esp the resort style furniture!thanks, pinklady. we really love the furniture lots and we consider it the 主角 of the entire renovation. before the furniture came in, the house looked just like any other ordinary renovation projects. after pieces were put into place, both of us went 'wow!'. for a moment, only a moment, all our anger accumulated throughout the whole renovation disappeared.

Chpt 1: A New BeginningSummer in a comfy corner @the kitchen. the only rm with tiles..
super cute... dogs r the best, ain't they?
my doggie couldn't come stay with me tho', cos he is closer to my mum. brought him here the other day, and my mum went downstairs... my little fellow started scratching the door cos he was so anxious!
that's how sticky he is... anyway, staying with mummy is prob better for him. we're not @ home most of the day, he will be super lonely
-
yup.. he's into star wars.. just clones alone, think he has at least 2000 of them! there's still the helmets, lightsabers, ships...he has his own corner in our new place for all of them..
would you mine sharing with me how much the display cabinet cost?
we were quoted about 2k-3k for glass cabinets.. cant remember wat the dimensions were though..
the hubby here is into transformers... plenty of them lying around...
i think ours is about the same price, in the 2-3K range
if u r planning to do the display with glass shelving, do check tt the cabinet lines are parallel, and tt the shelving can be removed with ease.
the hubby was trying to arrange his darlings in his showcase that day, but realised that the cabinets dimensions aren't exactly parallel, so some of the glass shelvings could not be removed properly. had to yank them out for some, of course with much difficulty. n given the weight of the glass, it was no mean feat! needless to say, we are super pissed another minus point to our so-called ID who is MIA now
anyway, arrangement of the toys r still WIP - apparently the whole collection has to arrive, then grouped according to size/colour/autobots/decepticons before they can go into their new home.
guys and their toys, haha

Eh Bro if i'm the one using i will use option 1Oh btw i will be getting a timer switch intro by 1 of the forummer for my heater so that it will auto off the heater just in case i forget
hey AJ, i'll go with option 1 like kopi.
we've been using the storage heater thingy since we moved in - for 2 pp, a 30-L tank is definitely enuff, and with loads to spare. even if we switch the heater off after the 1st person is done showering, it can provide enuff hot water for the next.
even if the heater was switched on in the morn, the water is still hot in the evening.

hi aerial, we have frosted glass doors for both common and mbr toilets too.
both doors have a rubber piece at the sides so that the gap will be covered, else will be able to see the inside.
the pics below r from reno - have not taken any of the doors specifically since we moved in.

Not Sure How To Install Blum System (aventos, Tandem, Servo-drives)
in Carpentry Works
Posted
Does anyone have any BLUM-certified carpenter to recommend?
We need to replace the kitchen dish rack frosted glass door because the hinge is spoilt, and are looking to install the BLUM Aventos system.
I have contacted the BLUM office for their list of certified carpenters, but didn't get a response.
If anyone could provide any contact who would be willing to do just the replacement and installation, it would be great.
