  1. I used this company called hotseat to do up for my dinning chairs last year.

    So far so good.

Their price is the best I could find and workmanship is good too.

I choose synthetic leather and it should be lasting.

Nowadays, I would avoid china made PU, and it is used in all china furnitures

    His email is adrianwong@hotseat.com.sg

Just for your information, I intended to do for my computer chair and dinner chairs last year.

But the cost for upholstery on computer chair is near to $200.

Some company even quote me $300 to $500

So in the end I only did for dinning chairs and gave the old computer chair to Hotseat.

I then bought a computer chair with fabric and net backing

  2. Hi Cookie,

Thanks for the assurance. They gave me 2 free cushion as well. I presumed you recieved the sofa already. How was their delivery service?

Their delivery was ok. They were late for 1+ hours but still ok considering it was CNY peak season.

The sofa was well covered from factory and they only unpack the cover at your house to make sure no scratches. :good:

Try to call them to confirm the delivery 2 to 3 days ahead and remember to leave your hp contact.

Should not have much hip-cup since they only sell ready stock in SG. Unless yours is pre-order then u should concern on the shipping

  3. Well, they are listed company in HK and should be trustworthy.

The sofa I bought was the lowest range but I think it is well built and it is super heavy.

The salesman is also very nice and not pushy at all, I got 2 cushions during the CNY offer.

Yup, their colour are quite limited, guess is one model one colour.

I think they mass produce and sold worldwide, which I think is the reason why they can provide good quality product with low price tag.

  4. I own 1 which is PVC skin for the bedhead, the PVC peel off after 2 years, regretted not getting real leather

I think PVC will not peel easily.. should be PU.

If you feel the material, if it is very soft, then it is PU.

PVC is harder and thicker, it will crack but not peel.

China made furniture like to use PU, and most seahorse furniture are made in China.

I will only get their mattress and not other

  5. Thanks for the info.

Kindly let me know how is the outcome of the delivery and the sofa. I may find time to visit the store. Cheers.

Our delivery suppose to be 2-4pm but they came late about 6pm. Was told CNY season very busy.

They should improve the communication at least inform me they will be late and what time they coming.

Other than the small hiccup, overall still no complain.

The sofa recliner structure and cow hide leather quality is good. For $999 price, it is value for money.

Do note recliner sofa is quite huge, I would think it is on comfort more than good looking.

  6. Before you go to Cheers, do take note that you cannot choose colour for a certain model.

Most model only have one colour, so you choose whatever you see on the display.

I just bought one 3 seater recliner @ $999 from their flag shop Midview City in Sin Ming.

A nice salesman Cliff attended to me.

Delivery supposedly on 10 Jan but their delivery team mixed up and postponed to today.

    Wait to see the outcome.

  8. Thanks for the information.

I have just checked online. Cheers and Lazyboy seem to be based overseas and meant to be purchased online is it? Prefer to test out sofas to get a feel as fittings are different for everyone. The review for Lazyboy recliner chairs seems pretty bad :(

I have checked out seahorse recliners. The mechanism for the foot rest seems to be very 'bouncy'. Not too sure about that although I like their sofa beds all these years.

I have seen some recliners at this furniture shop in Suntec City above Carrefore and thought quite decent. Anyone have any feedback about dealings with their furnitures? They sell bonded leather which is like recycle genuine leather. I wonder how ok are they?

    Thanks for any info. Cheers

Bonded leather is a definite NO NO for me. They are extremely not durable will almost definitely peel in less than 2 years.

You will find waste of money in long term.

If you are looking for real leather, make sure they write down Cow Hide leather on the receipt.

For artificial leather, PU is even worst. They will peel after 1 one year. Most China made furniture used PU because it is cheap although feel good.

I had bad experience with Seahorse PU Bed frame.

  9. the lack of review on this brand is because it is our sg market for less than 2 years..

But most of other brands like simmons, sealy, serta are way overprice!! 50% of the cost goes in the advertisement. eg I bought serta which was selling quite cheap 3 years back, and after they do major marketing and advertising, the price shoot up a lot.

If i am too choose again now, Nightingale will be better choice in term of value.

Test the mattress yourself and just choose the one you like, diff ppl diff liking

  10. hi cookie,

    thanks for the feedback.

    How's their workmanship?

i hope they provide good insulation for the pipes.

I will probably get a quote from them.

Well.. the workmanship look ok to me, but I dun really know how to guage.

Anyway, since after so long I dun encounter any problem, I assume shld be ok la.

Their manager Mr Lau told me that they are authorised agent for Mit aircon, they must do good installation work so as to get confident from the mit company, and also get good price from them.

Mine is using 3/8" Insulflex brand Class 1 black insulator.

Insuflex is a Malaysia brand and I heard it is not bad. Understand they also using another brand, I forgotten what is the name, but definitely Class 1. When they quote u, make sure a ask them to write down the Insulator name, Class Type, unlimited copper piping, warranty period.

They normally provide 2 years warranty and sometime longer during promotion.

As you are using R410 gas, u can consider using 1/2" thickness insulator to reduce condensation problem. But this may incur higher cost, try to bargain wif them on the insulator type and warranty period la.

  11. hihi did you mod your scooba power brick at SLT and if so any particular shop to recommend?

i've read in forums its recommended by irobot to leave the docking station always plugged in and charging so you scooba should be all rite

Nope, I mod it myself cos I am rather familiar wif electronics and solder skill.

If u really want to mod, try print out this foto and ask around the shops in SLT to mod for u.

    (I assume u bought a white Roomba)

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/gregories/2167737528/

I bought my C1 capacitor @ $3 from this shop #B1-28 in SLT

Do note that they closed shop at around 5pm ++ (Close on Sun) .. go early

if you're using transformers, both PSU and the transformers will not be cool even when no electricity is drawn from iRobot. Are you using a modified version PSU or got hold a piece of local PSU? I dun mind to turn it on if I have a 240v input PSU......

As for optimizing battery....different people got different saying leh, some even says it can't even last for more than 8 months..... :(

frostyflake, it's up to you to design how you run the robots. Not the other way  That's the fun part. Both of your proposal works, as long as you are happy... 8|

The PSU still abit warm lah.. I mean it is rather cool as compare to a transformer and I felt that the really little heat wont consume much electricity.

Like say if I on the unit for one year, it is like just switch on your lamp for 1 night... No fussy abt it

  12. cookie, why do you need to always turn on your psu? Since it's almost impossible to schedule a Scooba....are you using it everyday? Even for Roomba, there is no need to turn on 24/7 what? just use a timer to give it 3hr charge b4 your schedule would do the job right? a lot of energy wastage for 24/7 u know?

what you talk about rating, are you talking about total power eg 80W or the max Amp it can produce?

I read the instruction and it says it is recommended to leave the power adaptor so as to optimize the battery.. Dunno true or not, but since the adaptor and the unit is rather cool most of the time (Except during charging), I feel that it should not consume much electricity.

About the rating.. it can be the Power or Current (Amp) rating... since the voltage is fixed.

But sorry I did not do an actual calculation on how much the robot need, so dun ask me what rating to get..

That time I went to SL tower, a transformer can cost u from $20 to few hundred dollars, depend on the power rating.

hi to all experienced roomba users!

I had always wanted to get a irobot vacuum for my new house. But I have some questions & hope can get some answers from seasoned users.

If my house is 2 storey, how do I make sure it clean upstairs and downstairs? Do I wait for it to finish 1 level first and literally carry it to the next level to continue? Or should I do it on alternate days, e.g. today clean level 1, next day then level 2... Sorry if it sounds stupid but I really need suggestions on how to go about it, I don't want to invest in 2 units, at least not for the moment.

Then do you all normally on the base for 24hrs and let it sit there? Or do you all switch it off till the next day? I'm thinking more on the utility bills as there are so many things that I need to on it for 24 hrs.. like fish tank, water feature.. worried that the bill will be high :dancingqueen:

Roomba work different way from Scooba. If I were u, I will get 2 roomba with charging base and leave the base on 24 hours. In tis case, u dun have to monitor the robot and just let it run on its own. When battery run out, it will return to its base to charge.

Scooba work in diff way where u need to monitor it more closely, need to change water, divide out area, charge battery blah blah.. not as convenient as Roomba

  13. i suppose theres no scientific proof abt the batt myth but could be i didn dig deep enough :thumbs up: have read alot of comments though about stories of either inadequate charge or premature batt death

wats for sure is the power will be wasted in terms of heat on the transformer. i should be bringing the power brick to SLT to check if any shop can help once my roomba arrives

For sure there will be inadequate charge if the Transformer Current (Amp) rating is not high enough. If this happen, you will never get a Full charge no matter how long you charge. So do check the rating before you buy, of cos higher rating, will be more bulky and more expensive.

I had mod my Scooba 350 and leave the power supply always on for nearly half a year, still working fine.
