  1. sorry to bring this up.

i have the same problem in my MBR - a resale top floor unit

smell comes from the floor trap - HDB , contractor all check and found no leak or chocks.

    really stumble .

smells comes in at certain time .. not sure if the top floor is a release vent for the waste water..

ANY one staying top floor has this problem too?

  2. Seriously, no point hacking unless the Resale unit tiles are really old. (if its really only 10 years, its actually quite ok). Don't waste $.

    .

I can live with the kitchen by simply hving a stronger chemical wash. moreover, will redo entire kitchen.

For toilets , its a " must " for us to revamp .. yes condition is acceptable thou .. so its much a personal choice

  4. Folks ,

I have got a resale 4 room. Was quoted ridiculously for the hacking of the toilets and Kitchen floor and wall tiles. 6K in all ( not to mentioned the living room )

Had decided to get vinyl flooring for the bedrooms and living rooms to save cost + quite nice and durable.

However for the kitchen - we need to do an overhaul at minimal cost, considering overlay tiles to cut cost .

Hoping to get some inputs on this option to overlay toilet floor tiles + Kitchen Wall tiles

House is 10 years old and on the top floor 23th.

  5. As usual, we research from google, renotalk about the ID and contractors. Me and my wife met about 3 ID and 3 contractors.

End up we have selected the popular MR. A for our renovation contractor. We felt his quotation are reasonable and he does provide good suggestion on certain renovation idea to save the cost.

and we promised to him.. if he does swee swee for our renovation, we will help him promote @ renotalk~ haha!

Our renovation will start tomorrow, hack hack hack...

hihi, i am sourcing for a contractor as well doing my resale 4 room

can you share with me the quotes from Mr A.. looks quite nicely done up so far :)

    cheers

  7. U use which brand of silicon?

Its some industrial silicon recommended by a h/w shop in Ubi. Completed my job in 3 hours.. scrap off the silicon. Dismantle/Clean up the piping .. and resilicon back the piping and sink edges..I doubt i will last as my design is a undermount design.. the wood holding the sink and solid surface are already wet and disintegrating.

Anyway its is dam cheap to diy. just to share the cost.. Industrial silicon( white/anti mould) 1 tube $3.50, Silicon gun $3, sandpaper$1 ( no use at all) , scrapper $1.30, epoxy ($6.50) also no use at all. Less than $20.. its on the worksmanship to complaint..else everything is working fine .. will post a pic shortly.

  8. Hi 1.1m, got your private message.

Whether top mount or under mount, it's ok to remove the silicon first before you apply a new layer.

For my own sink, the leaks has stopped, but I had to apply a hideous thick layer of silicon for that to happen.

Thanks pal.. yah.. i am trying to do this by weekend.. the leaking kinda got worse.. i saw your pictures and its in a similar state as yours.
