  1. Quite shack, got to bring him go polyclinic for jaundice level check. Luckily tdy my wife called me said his jaundice is below 100 at last, no need to go back again. Phew.

His feeding time is strictly every 2.5hrs, the bottle must be fed to him within 2 mins, if not.... jialat. :(

Change pamper like nobody business.... :(

ha that's part and puzzle of being a parent. so who do the nite feed? also from my own experience, during the day time, use lower grade diaper, as it is change frequently. as for during the nite, since babe mostly sleep through, use better brand diaper. haha...enjoy your parenthood...

  3. Hi Gorilla, may i know when the HDB officer suppose to check the unit? anytime between 1st n 2nd appointment? Thx

    hi Jthk18

yes. the officer will normally visit between the 1st and 2nd appointment (normally 1 week after 1st - depend on the availabiltiy of the officer). before the 1st meeting, they will do paper work checking.

  4. I'll be getting my keys soon so in the spirit of the forum, I'm starting a blog to share my experience on everything leading up to moving in (and maybe beyond). Well, actually I would like to do a little experiment and keep 2 blogs.

The first can be found at Our Living Space. This is where I'll be posting pictures and updates on the renovation, and also any bits of related information that I find.

However, one thing that static blogs don't do very well is handling the interactive chat in response to postings. Chatting through the comments is somewhat okay but is clunky and not quite as easy to follow as a forum topic. So this is where this T-blog Chat comes in. It will allow me to channel all the fun discussions to a more appropriate "forum".

I hope my little experiment works! Enjoy your read. :yamseng:

    hi there

welcome to T-blog. it's good that you have taken the step to start your blog, as for me....i am still contemplating to start or not hahaha

    happy renovating....and have fun sharing

he assured me that my house will surely be ready b4 CNY but u know le sometimes very hard to predict de sure got delays here and there so i'm still hoping i can stay in my new house during new yr hehehe :D

    hi coffee

sorry side track a bit. think you better have the HDB officer see the house first before you do any renovation. otherwise any irregularity in the structure will be pin point at you.

  9. To be frank i was a little concerned as quite a few guys asked me for her contact. I was worried that if she had more projects then no time for mine haha. Before I engaged her I did ask her how many projects does she take at one time. She did tell me that she would handle 2-3 (if i not mistaken) at most as she wants to make sure she can deliver what she promise according to her usual standard. So I am quite glad and pleasantly happy to hear that she will pass on some of the queries to her colleagues.

However I personally do not know Brian so I cannot comment. However knowing my ID, she will surely only refer to someone reliable, especially if its a referral from her customer. I doubt anyone will refer a lousy colleague to a customer's referral. Cos if her colleague messed up, she might even risk not getting referrals in future from her customers.

As ID firm use the same contractor, I guess workmanship shouldnt be a concern.

Most imptly is that you have to feel comfortable with the ID you meet and feel that you can trust the ID with your reno.

That is usually the deal clincher in most cases as you will realize the quote comparison doesnt make sense after a while.

  15. Dear Mr Tan

Please refer to your e-mail of 27 Aug 2009 to my CEO, regarding your appeal to hack/demolish the store room walls of your above flat.

2 To safeguard the structural integrity of HDB flats and the safety of residents, all load-bearing reinforced concrete (RC) walls for prefabricated flats cannot be tampered with. We would like to explain as your block is a prefabricated block and the store room walls which you have requested to hack/demolish are load-bearing RC walls, we regret that your appeal cannot be acceded to. Kindly note that this renovation guideline is available in the HDB InfoWEB at www.hdb.gov.sg

under Home Owners>Renovating Your Home>HDB Renovation Guidelines>Examples of Renovation Works Not Allowed

    .

3 Under current renovation guidelines, flat owner can only submit an application (through their HDB registered renovation contractor) if the wall proposed to be hack/demolished is a non-load bearing RC walls and subject to the engagement of a Professional Engineer (PE) to inspect and supervise the works. However, for the demolition of load bearing RC walls as in your case, the request would not be approved even if you have engaged a PE to submit application for the proposed demolition works due to safety reasons.

4 We seek your understanding on the matter. If you need any clarifications, please call Mr Tan Kok Lam, Head of Tampines Branch at Tel: 63477201 or his Principal Technical Officer, Mr Teo Soo Thye at Tel: 63477270. I can also be reached on Tel: 64902281.

    Yours sincerely,

    hi natgw

sorry to hear about your unsuccessful appeal. but to my understanding, any load barring walls or col should be highlighted in CLEAR BLACK BOLD line in your floor plan instead of just fine line.

well wish your ID can come out with some great ideas (and please share) to make the space looks better...happy reno ok...

    gorilla

guess its time to call him tml morning and make some noise.
