    Hi all

    Things has been moving fast since I collected my keys on 25th Oct. I have place orders for floor tiles for my living room & toilets (still deciding whether to do up kitchen). Also bought bathroom accessories.

    HDB contractor doing up the cement screeding now.

    Alister, tat's fast!:bangwall: I've gotten my keys on 22 Oct.. Am still waiting for the layout frm the IDs... :rolleyes:

    How long does HDB rectify yr defects?

    Just got a small piece of good news from my ID....He has asked the PE to reduce his fees for me since we are not going ahead with the hacking. This means that he does not have to spend time on a site visit and also, he does not have to bear the added responsibility after the hacking.

    The PE initially said that it is not possible as fees are fixed, but he has made an exception this time based on his long-term dealings with my ID...

    The discount is not very substantial (just $100) but still this is better than nothing!

    Kudos to my ID!

    Hi gadgetman, isn't the PE charge supposed to be included in the quotation if hacking of wall is required? I've spoken to 2IDs and was told that hacking of wall is easily approved by HDB but no a word on PE leh.. :lol:

    Tension, you have to know what you want. Contractors/IDs can offer you a very attractive quote but it might not be your ideal. Let them know your budget and tell them what you need, be reminded of hidden cost.

    My fengshui master came last Thurs to see my flat..sigh...ask us to make quite major changes to our MBR design so now headache loh :P

    Could I ask if anybody's permit got approved to just open a doorway between MBR and the adjacent bedroom? Initially wanted to hack but now my fengshui master say sleep in MBR no good, shld sleep in the other room...sianz man.

    Another thing is the silly pipes for the gas heater. Anyone knows if these can be removed if we not using them? I know that shifting is impossible cos the pipes are all concealed now. Its in the weirdest position now and its likely that we'll bump into them after the kitchen cabinets are put up..hmmm :P

    Hi Ikoice, i got my FSM to view my unit today. Think i hv to forego my reno theme cos my living rm, bedrooms are all different colours!:P! Since already consult so hv to follow lor.. :P

    My Id told me that the in/out pipe can be saw off but not completely... will still be able to see the 2 points lor. Actually shifting is possible, you can check with your ID and piping can be conceal too.

    Dear Neighbours,

    I'm thinking.... How about we have a gathering this coming Sunday (say at 3pm)? This gathering (no need bring food) is for everyone who wants to open their house or visit other's house can meet together.

    What do u all think?

    Here's the link talking about the Panasonic inverter model. I quite like the design with freezer at the bottom. The salesman told me 70% of the time we will take from the middle & only 30% from freezer, so the design is meant for that. But personally I think the savings does not justify the extra 20% pricing.

    I am now looking at LG model. Was told by a fridge repairman "made in Japan or Korea" brand does not break down so often and dun buy Toshiba.

    was told that home & hotel mattress is of different quality.. Hotel mattress the quality slightly softer but heavier.

    Probably, i'll go for mitsubishi cos the currently fridge last us for 15yrs and still surviving...

    Where got stress ? So exciting. Still coming up .... LCD TV, Fridge (inverter / non-inverter), washing machines, sofas (synthetic, PVC, half leather, full leather), cooker & hob ... :good:

    hihi droplets,

    i've chosen Serta Arizona after much consideration as it fits my budget the most and its comfort level is :yamseng: ... wanted to get Simmons initially but its really ex.. Maxcoil Memory foam was second on my mind cos its like tempur and i love tempur(way out of my range as each mattress is at least 2k for single)and have gotten it for my gers(king size mattress cover for them to roll on the floor) cos of its comfort. last but not least, also considered Sealy but cos its new brand, v scared to try...

    Serta has many different models can compare the list below:

    1. Alabama: highest range of model for Serta. V soft and its fully pocketed spring

    2. Arizona: middle range of model for Serta. Firm but also supports cos its pocketed spring + latex.

    Other models include Georgia, Atlanta, Minnesota etc... ultimately, u must try on it then can choose what u want.

    of cos there are other brands such as dunlopillo, four stars etc it's all a personal choice but do check out its comfort level b4 buying and the shop that u are buying from must also have friendly sales pple.... sleeppost at furniture mall is gd cos Sharon the branch manager is v patient and will explain all the different mattress type and will not push her products. they also carry a v extensive range of brand from dunlopillo to serta.... no commission but sharing from personal experience. if u guys need, can pm me and i'll share my breakdown of price w u...

    oh and b4 i forget, check w the shop whether if ur mattress can enter the lift and tell them the level that u are staying in... there will be an extra charge if ur mattress can't fit into the lift and the workers need to carry it up all the way to ur unit... half of it will be borne by the mattress company and the other half by the owner.

    Oh mine, another headache... First water heater then aircon now.. mattress.... Stress up! :good:

    Hi Gadgetgal, think u dun hv to get from HDB.. cos i believe that someone will be more than willing to sell u the door at lower cost :yamseng: provided that door is not damage upon removing la.

    COngrats to all collecting keys! this is going to be so happening. YEAH!

    As some has requested for the list to include email addy, contact no. and occupation, do PM me if you wanna yours to be included and allow all to know. ;0 Deadline is by 25 Oct.

    Also for air-con, if we want, we can all grp tgt and ask them for a better quote since now we buy in BULK. haha... (just a suggestion la)

    also for those who wanna give up the door, my ID advised not to since the door is good quality and cost abt $300. He suggested not to exchange it for bi-fold which is aluminium. but up to you la cos i know some of you dont like the door design rite.. also no space once we open it. haiz..

    also re doremi check on the citigas of $246.. citygas told me its free for 1st time applicants! So this is good news to all new couples. :~

    Shivan - thnks for the advise on the electric heater. I dint know that cos i always on the heater for 10-15mins before each bath!! same for all my family mbrs! which means if my bro baths 3hrs later, he on for 15mins again!:curse: haha no wonder our bill soooo ex!:( so THANKS!

    I got reply from HDB regarding the hacking. Due to fire safety rules, one room can only have ONE door!:) *for those who been to my place.. think you'll understand this- if i hack the wall b/w my MBR and BR3 (for WIW), then i must seal up the BR3 door!! Meaning entry to my study rm(BR3) can only be from my MBR!:dunno: argh!:P So for those considering to hack that wall.. got to replan your design!

    o one more thing. I just called Citygas.

    They said use gas definitely better except cannot 2 person bath in diff toilet at the same time! :no: haha. so if you do cooking and one person bathing OK can. cos the gas to cook and to heat the water is diff. the gas for the water is only 5litre, hence one person :no: no problem even if its half an hour for Dino! :notti: LOL but not enough capacity for two toilet. just have to space out your bathing time la. haha. if not, cold water can be quite healthy too la. haha

    Electic ones bill can be quite high :deal: so if don wanna spend then settle for Citygas ba. :good:

    Jo, if this is the case hor. than 1st person shower for instant take 20mins than 2nd person must wait how long than can take shower huh??

    Hi dino, i'm from blk D. Submitted my loan early sep. Went to HDB on 1 Oct to check on my loan status and apparently they mentioned that they still need me to submit my sep payslip and I submitted on the same day. Officer emailed me yesterday that my loan has been approved on 1 Oct and fixed appt for key collection shortly. I'm not able to join this sun probably another outing. The carpark garden has no shelter wouldn't it be warmed??? :)
