  1. This is the take from the aircon guy whom I'm engaging to install my aircon.

From his experience, the compressors and circuit boards for inverter aircons spoils more easily than non-inverters. The reason he gave was that the very feature of inverter aircons make it work harder than non-inverter compressors. As a result, inverter aircon compressor and circuit boards will likely work twice as hard as non-inverters, if not more.

He added that he is not dissuading me from getting inverter aircons, but just that he has seen a lot more failures with invertor aircons. He says it is a gamble, if you are lucky to get a "good" unit, it won't spoil so easily, but more likely than not the opposite is the case.

So on top of the long period before you recoup the extra spent on inverter aircons, you might also have to contend with the high maintenance cost after the parts warranty runs out.

This is the most ridiculous nonsense I heard before. The older inverter may have more problems bec they were new 5-6yrs ago.

Anyway use inverter, it saves u more money from fridge to aircon. I have Mitsubishi and I must say it is a very well design unit. The compressor just hums as it will run in very light load when the room is cooled. As for the Pany, I had experience it in my previous house and it roars non stop till morning.... the compressor runs under heavy load all the way...

Unless really on budget don't save that few hundred.... esp for those who need to turn on aircon every now and then for a few rooms. My bill drop from $500 to $250+...... after I change fridge and aircon to inverter....

  2. Are you referring to the designer lamps? If so, Lush sells good designer copies. E.g. Lush also sells the Kartell Bourgie lamp at about $300. The original cost about $600 onwards.

$300 for chong? My friend bought original from Space sale for ~$400+ after 40% off. Kenna kotok big big..

  3. Ok, I got the address. Is the showroom open daily? I heard HTL and Domicil sofa are very value for $$. Thanks folks

    think open daily...

I really think my Domicil set gives the Italian designer sofa a run for the money.... everyone commented it is a very good set. Thought I spent more than 10k... hee hee. :P

I would recommend aniline leather sofas.... cool to sit, soft and smooth. Cannot complain... lucky neber go buy fabric again....

  4. hi voxy,

    Panasonic 532

can u tell me where u got yours? BD having a so called promotion at 2999.

Yes I bought this from Mega.... display set clearance. $1999. Too bad no more liao.

I only can say this model is fantastic..... swallow lots of stuff. Does not takes up space, little or no heat.... inside somemore LED lighting. Highly recommended... the newer and bigger one is also very good. Mega give me the best price...

  5. Hi

Not necessary guys know feng shui ok!!

Frankly its better that you consult a fsm. And this one must really get expert. Otherwise will create problems.

If your house is not north south facing, on the safe side can be south east.

    Hi gal... thanks. ;)

  6. my ID is charging me $700 for 1 wall..

the wall paper is from goodrich.. should be cheaper if you get direct.

take note there is 2 kind.. this type, i would say its more 2D, with texture is of better quality..feels more like cloth

the normal will be really paper quality.

How much psf? Not cheap wor...

  7. Ya, it's a pretty big set at 2.85m by 1.65m . My main concern is that the leather may not last for 3-5yrs ( afraid that it will peel off) , otherwise, i like the rest of the sofa (size is right, comfort is good, shape is good)

Do you know whether if the color really peels off after 6months, will they warranty it?

Won't peel one lah... just take care of it with leather care.

Last time mine top hides Analine also lasted **** long... it is even more difficult to take care.

  8. No feature wall, just the wall with the tv mounted. Hmmm ya quite true about feeling giddy....think will keep to 3 colours at most....

Better keep simple since you choose to use furniture color as the focal point. All other color combo should be earth or neutral tone.

    2008-1-8-methome.jpg

Ha ha.... try not to put those feature wall... I find it outdated and also waste of money. The worst ones are those with lights flying out from the side of the box.... super cina....

  9. Walls - white

    Feature wall - raw timber

This will soften the hard solid color..... don't forget still got curtain soften the whole feeling.

I will opt to soften the look. Else when you have too many colors, you get giddy at home.

If however your sofa is a Cassina or B&B, I will put everything in very light tones or white and make the sofa the center pc of attraction.

Sorry, why do you need a feature wall? It is passe liao....

  10. Was looking for a leather sofa and saw that Life storey at Great world City have bazaar sale .

Was surprised that they are selling L shape leather sofa for only $1980 (their sofa average prce is around 3K to 5K) . Went to check it out and was told by the sales that this was only once a year but the sofa is manufacture in china.

Design is really nice but was concerned that one of the sales told me it is PVC leather (but another one told me it is real cowhide leather).

Can anyone kindly advice if it is worth the buy?

I tried scratching hard on the sample leather and the top color coating came off, showing the bare grey base, is this real leather?

what is the quality as compared to lorenzo?

    thanks in advance

They are cheaper cowhide... I would conside it quite a good price if it is a big set.

  11. yes, its a good place to get stuff

i bought most of the big items (fridge, cooker, LCD TV, built in oven, washing machine) from them and the prices are alot lower than outside shops.

i noticed that its the individual product Distributors that actually delivered the goods, not Mega Discount ppl, which i think its a good thing. That means the products comes directly from the Distributor warehouse. Installation is all done by Distributor.

Yup... I get best price for the latest 6 door Panny fridge which will cost one leg at other establish place. This place only want my toes wor.

  12. Yes got lobang but as u can see there are some even cheaper...if u need then let me know. I'm won't be giving the contact out anymore, cos been made used by other forumers who ask my electrician to quote, then in the end was using it to press down the ID/contractor's quotation...so my electrician already told me only confirm jobs then call him...he won't go to owner's place to quote anymore wasting his time and transport, even his price for installation of lighting fixture $8, changing of switches face plate $6, ceiling fan $35, new light point $25...was already consider reasonable.

    hmm... I see.

But how to you rate his work? I am more concern of quality then that few dollars. My lights quite ex that is why.... hee hee. :D

I suppose he is a qualified electrician as well? I am very particular about electrical works..... safety and of course good workmanship. I hate to see those just cut without measuring properly.... end up the lights not straight.
