  1. Wow your EM is veri reasonable priced!! and yr reno complete so fast..really amazing..not like my..got slowed down by permits and all..

Mine is at Woodyland..so price not as premium as yours.

Fast?! Hehe didt feel so when the time past ever so slowly by..

But for the amount of work done, 7 wks not too bad I guess.

  2. Pnokio: Hmm....u mean plastering cant be done at the balcony area? hmm.....an reason why it cant be done?

For my unit, the contractor only do up to false ceiling/awning height. He said it's dangerous for his workers to do all the way to the top. Anywazs not so obvious after the new coat of paint...so oklah.

  3. Paid 27k for my 20-yr-old EM in Woodlands. Original condition. Reno damage 54k with no design whatsoever but just basic overhaul of the unit. Changed everything except unit itself. Heartache when realise $$ fly just like that. But needed a bigger space for my kids n location is 15 min walk to amenities so not to bad. Wonder whether there's a thread for reno amount n the extent of work...

  4. Been so long. Things are now in warehouse. Engaged DNKH movers. Reno also started and progressing well. Below are some of the picts.

Extended the utility room and decided to make another doorway to the kitchen.

  5. Thanks! I purchase this sink MN-TR106. Seems pretty solid and suitable for my usage. The salesperson told me it can be undermounted but Patrick advise me not to do it because this is not a true undermount sink. He mention he encounter a few cases of leak within 6 months. I am a bit skeptical initially and after checking with two other shops, they mention that undermount can be down with "undermount" sink.

    sink.jpg

After doing some search on the internet, MN sink is made by Mor-ning. After reading through their profile, I found out that they are actually a ISO9001:2000 certified company. I hope the sink quality turns out to be good.

Using topmount sink as undermount sink is actually a risk. For those who has yet to buy a sink, please take note of this. An example of undermount sink is as shown in the following website. Undermount sink has a totally flat surface

    http://www.elkayusa.com/cps/rde/xchg/elkay...amp;vqmaterial=

Oh dear, aft reading ur post m concern abt my new sink! It's not totally flat! N my contractor didnt warn me abt it. The guy who sold the sink said suitable for undermount. Sink frm Critzo-the one with 'waste container' on the right :(

  6. I have completed my house moving. I recommend Elite Movers Tel : 62424886. They are fast & good in packing my stuff like fridge, glass table, bed etc. Took 2-3 hours to finish the packing & deliver to my new house. I had a detour last minute & they are able to get another truck to my house in less than an hour.

Emailed them for quote but no one returned my call even though I did receive an email stating tat they would call me within 24 hrs. What luck. I believe sometimes it's just not meant to be...

  7. ur quote is def. high! my personal experience with 138 movers was..

    1) they came over to access my "things to move"

    2) give a quote

    3) i ask for discount

    4) they give some discount

    5) i say i will think about it

    6) some days later, some1 call and ask me for my decision

    7) offered some more discount

    8) i found it not that reliable but nonetheless there are professional

    9) i used another mover

    10) their quote more competitive

and since Oct 2009, I used them twice (oct 2009 and jan 2010)

and will engage them again in Apr.

(PM me for their details will be better)

    Hi Berry Surprise,

Can PM me ur mover's no? Thanks

  8. Just completed my move today. The supervisor turned up with 5 men at 9am, along with some packing materials. Packed all my fragile items including LCD TV and my glass cabinets, and moved out by 12pm. All done by 2pm. All in all, no issues and a good experience.

Wah Congrats! Phew...moving our belongings van be a nightmare. Did u use their storage facility? They fixed back the TV n bed? Can PM me ur mover's no? thanks a lot

  9. Recently, I just moved house to a temporary place (make way for reno). I engaged DNKH-Logistics (http://www.dnkh-logistics.com) and find their service is good and prompt to your request. I would recommend their services but they might not be the cheapest in the market. Do call them and seek their quote for comparison.

Most important - most move will have some issue but with right people it can be resolve immediately.

    Hi,

Ur last statement is very true. Now looking for mover w storage facility. This mover u engaged, did they provide free boxes? Dismantle and assemble too?

    Thanks yah

  12. Hi folks,

We are planning to put a KDK baby fan in the bedrooms. But as u know,

KDKs don't come with lite kit.

The dilemma is how to place the ceiling lites w/o or as little blade shadows

    as possible.

Anyone with pics on how they do theirs?

    thanks all!

  14. Thanks :D will put up more pics once more furniture are in...

Wah..U've really transformed the place! Congrats. Ur layout is very similar to mine (condition too!). So ur reno is inclusive of paint work? Ur living floor and kitchen are using the same tiles? I am very indecisive and have yet to choose my tiles and kitchen colour. But when I look at ur kitchen...I fell in love with it!

  15. Some info that might be useful to some of you..

    1) Alot of the wall tiles's "white powder" had turned abit yellowish (Some seriously decolored). Was told is from the tiles itself.. Henry said bo bian.. is like that 1. So choose your tiles properly.. the tiler once said "China made" ones is very prone to this problem... Can't believe it! Before move in change color oledi.. sigh... bo bian loh.. if you see this, feedback asap for it to be repatched coz was told cannot patch anymore, the new powder cannot "hold" onto the old powder.

    2) For old flats, if you choose to replace the windows, please know new windows is not as "thick" as the walls.. And guys putting up windows dun patch nice nice the walls to window parts 1 hor.. at least for my case lah.. mayb i special.. ahhaha.. Also, for me only, when raining, water do not flow out of the "vents". Water accumulate at the centre of the window.. only those reaching the vent at the side goes out.. coz old flat? Ha.. mayb is me.. feedback but was forgotten.

    3) For old flats, new window grills will cover the new windows.. sui sui one.. but can see the bad patching skills outside of the grills/windows.. also.. MAJOR ADVICE.. ask contractor to remove all window grills well before painting, so can paint PROPERLY around the windows surrounding.. window guys come after painting mah.. and dun believe when some1 says sure can one.. the painters hv small brush, can paint the small gaps etc.. even corridor units, who will break in to steal paints, tiles? fyi. freaking grill guys punched holes into the windows to secure the grills. Caused 2 leaks which lasted for new days before it was patched up only with silicone. wonder how long it would last.. sigh...

    4) After having Kitchen's windows replaced, tell contractor to tell everyone working near the area to cover the ledge of the windows with something before work. I had a bad time cleaning out all the bits and pieces of cements and dirt and paints from the window ledges.. now the windows do not open smoothly like new ones.. work done above the ledge, includes piping guys, grill installations, painting and patch work if any.. and dun believe that the cleaners got blower to blow the bits out..

    5) Wood use for all doors and door frames is the same.. cheap wood.. is just the design. Most important abt this, they would bring in the doors, fix up 1st. After then paint the doors without removing it from the hinges. So know this, the top and bottom of the doors is not painted at all.. so for me, my main door wic is prone to kana rain.. hv to protect it myself with towels etc.. Also door frame, kana water would hv yellowish color come out.. cheap wood mah.. how to waterproof? just paint loh..

    6) Have dowlight? plaster the walls.. at least the walls having dowlights.. HAhahah..

    7) Last.. small prob lah.. electrician just applied silicon to seal the trunking. But that day the grill guys was working also.. so he drilled the walls.. end up the flakes got "caught" in the silicon.. today spend 1 hr to take out the whole row and apply again..

Rem you have the rights to tell the workers to be careful for certain things like cover the ledge when working above etc.. if not, feedback to contractor immed. Is your own responsibilty to do your own checks.. Ha.. of coz you nd to be there before they start to warn them..

Which i try to be there most of the times but no use coz dun know the consequence.. so i hope friends dun kana like me.. Hahah.. or i special again.. Hahha..

    Hi Fencer,

U r really v strong! can tahan and accept all those but of course...bo pian lor...now m worried for my reno. Thank you for sharing - gonna make the xtra effort to pay them visits regularly once reno starts.
