Samtheman, so the bovine leather is actually buffalo leather? No wonder the term 'Bovine' leather is used instead of genuine Top Grain Cowhide Leather. Brazil leather? which tannery are they purchasing the leather from?? Tuscany. Google it, what Tuscany??
-
The delivery team should not have said that. It will still 'bug' me even after replacing, as what you say, it shouldn't have been infested in the first place. They should have change the whole sofa instead of that portion only. So if there is this problem the next time, just use insect repellent???

u sure the phone is frustrating her and not you. hahaha..... Idiotphone = idiots using it???? hey, u calling us idiots . sorry i can't help you on your question to me. U found what u were looking for?

SamTheMan Agree, most of the leather sofas in Singapore & Malaysia used 0.9-1.1mm, as you said, for the mass market. As our manufacturer in China OEM for an Italian & German brand name, the europe standard for their entry level is 1.3-1.5mm, we have been buying from them for the past 4 years and till today we do not have a single complain on leather cracking, peeling & tearing. It is more expensive then what most mass market shops like EL are retailing, but the assurance and beauty of a fine leather is worth it. We have a warranty of 2 years for the leather upholstery under normal condition of household use and as i said in another post, will soon extend it to 3. Our Sales has never been better as satisfied customers after 3 years are refering their family & friends to us. Maybe you might like to ask EL what are the terms for their 5 years warraty. Looking at it, CASE will have many more cases to handle in two years time.

Well said, bro. But then i'm also using iphone, so not so cool, yeah.

Well, with this kind of defects from loose tread to punture holes and faulty mechanism upon delivery, consumers should be happy that there is an EL representative here to make appointments for servicing. Indeed they will need extraordinary customer service (like what Dave says) down the road. These are just the reported ones who post here, what about those who do not know about this forum. EL, just send me the address anytime, i am in Puchong, so it is very convenient for me to pop by your factory in Sungei Buloh.

Things to watch out for when purchasing a leather sofa and what's written in the sales order/invoice. 1) Full leather sofa set - A full leather set does not mean that it is a full cowhide leather set. 2) Full Bovine leather sofa set - What animal is the bovine, buffalo, water buffalo, ox or cow. If it is cowhide, we don't use the term Bovine leather. 3) How thick is the hide - Typically, the entry level for leather sofa upholstery, the thickness should be at least 1.3 - 1.5mm. 4) What grade is the cowhide - Full Grain / Top Grain / Corrected Grain / Bicast / Bonded 5) Warranty - Always ask to see the warranty card and read what it covers. Minimum of two years for leather upholstery is sufficient as if the quality of the 'leather' is of poor grade, it tends to peel and tear within that period. 100% Top Grain Leather shouldn't peel or tear even if you do not take care of it over this period of time.

Dave, we can all see that he do not know what we are trying to say here. 1) When you use bovine leather, i ask what animal is it, yes, it could be cow, but then, we will use the word 'cowhide leather' instead of bovine leather. 2) I did not mention about that your boss whom you feel you are more inferior is the director of century, did i. People in the industry knows what's going on, we are here so consumers can judge for themselves whom they want to do business with. 3) Yes. Me, dave and samtheman was wondering does the 5 years warranty covers the leather uphostery, which you said it does and we were asking if the terms & conditions written void this. You are the one who is being so protective about it that cause this ruckus that make us suspicious of your company's operation model. I have never said that you are lying, we said it is quite unbeliveable and kudos to your company for offering that. 4) We are just sharing with members here about what we know about the furniture industry and leathers, is that a problem with you and your company. Now you want to haul me in court, base on what?? You are acting in a way that put you and your company in a very bad light here. You are so patetic and naive. To us, you are just another patetic Salesman doing part customer service and promoting your company products with a little knowledge on leathers. As i say, that shows what ethics you have here. Read up on your own postings and see what i mean. You are the one who is underating the forummers here with your interpretation of leather based on your own assumption rather then googling to find out.

I think you have misunderstood our english here. I wouldn't want to emulate your company, maybe you can ask your boss to look at companies that has been around for more then 10 years and learn from them how they get this far. He have many experience in this field as he has worked in so many furniture companies. With the way you are representing your company here, i can assure you that it won't be around for long. The business will not survive but you will.

Most people in the furniture industry knows what kind of person your boss is like as you can see that customers also knows that he had worked in many other companies over the years. So don't mention about his integrity, which already shows. As like what samtheman says, he can 'talk the birds down from the trees', he is just a good salesman that is why he needs you in management. I am in KL, where is your factory located. Post the address here or PM me. Thks.

You are the one who says to look at the other/older post here before commenting. The thing that irks me is that companies that ran away with other people's $$$$ can open another company and claim they will be here for the next 5 - 10 years. and the people running those companies are the same person yet again. Why i say it is important to check on company's paid up? if it is just a $1.00 PLC registered company, if it winds down, what have they got to lose. I really doubt that EL has its own factory, probably they are just supported by Zolano Malaysia, that's it. All claims by EL has never been substaintiated. Btw, INTEGRITY you do not have.

what if it has infested the whole factory pile of wood and the replacement are using the same batch of timber ??????? just my imagination too.... Aiyo, Dave, don't scare Sook's la

I N T E G R I T Y I N T E G R I T Y EL

you can help by contributing and keeping this tread alive. as for the $$$$, if you had file a report then, maybe you can get CASE for advice??? just taking EL advice to go through the postings for other comments.

Right on, bro. The post you quoted by lionmetal, 20 June. This is what is all about.

Depending on the brand of these bags, many different animal hides are used. Suedes are made from split leather. Visit Mastrotto site, they supply leathers to different industry. www.mastrotto.com
-
How often do you think they use their cars, bro. Just look at their mileage.
-
whisky, not to worry la, just the handling fault. EL will be kind enough to replace you a new set in no time. Take care.
-
Have you reupholster the leather before?? I don't think Merc will do that. I drive a beemer for the last 3 years, leather still good as new, nothing special done other then have it scrub and wash on my seat last year due to jeans rubbing onto the sitting. Luxury cars like Posh, Lambo, Fer, bent and others, uses Nappa leather or Full Aniline leather for their seats. It just aged with the owner. Class of its own.

Is Castilla A Reputable/reliable Brand For Sofas?
Jeanius replied to musingaway's topic in Home Furnishings
Even professionals sometimes can't accurately classify the quality standards with their bare hands, so it's not just you or me. That is why now we buy only from one manufacturer which gets their leather supplied from reputable Italian tanneries which are IQAI. As you can see, i am quite particular about warranties with regards to leather sofa sets. If a Top Grain leather sofa set sells for less then 3k (L-shape), i wonder how the company can survive with the cost of doing business in Singapore. Factor in, the 5 year warranty for wear and tear too, as some say, too good to be true. That is why i said, what are the terms & conditions for the leather warranty. Well, we know now that EL covers it, i wish them and their customers well. So if you do not get the warranty from Castilla, buy EL. Just hope they are still around as long as Castilla has. -
As i said, not much leather used. Why not, less then 5% of the whole car.

Dear readers Do post me your questions about leather and i will try my best to answer you to the best of my knowledge in this field. It actually helps me to relearn what i have learned. Cheers.
