  5. Can save about 25% from Foreign Exchange rate and lower retail price.

**** High COE prices have increased logistic cost so much, the vendors are increasing their prices in Singapore.

Can you tell me what is cheap in Singapore?

  6. continued:

There was another stubborn adhesive stain which had hardened over the years after we took off an old hook which had been left on the wall by the previous owner.

The adhesive seemed to have hardened into something that was akin to brown-looking putty cement as shown in the photograph below:

Prior to acquiring De-Solv-it from Home-fix stores, such horrible looking adhesive stains were a lost cause which had marred the clean-looking appearance of white ceramic tiles on the kitchen wall.

After the chemical works wonders for the first scenario, we've decided that it won't do any harm to try it out on this stubborn adhesive stain. :sport-smiley-004:

As the chemical causes wrinkles to my fingers during the first scenario & that it was tough to remove the pungent stench once it came into contact with my skin, I've decided to wear a pair of plastic gloves while spraying it on the stubborn adhesive stain.

The same procedure was then repeated & the white tile had been restored to its original state: spotless & clean-looking as shown in the photograph below.

This must be a good chemical judging from your experience,

but I found a cheaper solution of just using paint thinner which

gives exactly the same result at a fraction of the price.

  7. I have used a epoxy sold in tubes called MAXBOND.

Cost about $4.50 per tube. Can get from any hard ware shop.

To apply using pressure gun cost $3.00

The adhesive is super strong stuff. I have used it to stick riles on my walls.

The question is, if your paintwork is strong enough. Sometimes in application like this,

the tile falls off, not because of the weak gum, but because of the paint.

  8. Hi guys,

My wife bought a nice vintage luggage from France and we would like to turn it into a coffee table!

Does anyone know where we can go to change the inside lining (a little dirty) and add some short table legs?

Any car seat upholstery shop can redo the inside.

    Furniture restorer also can do.

Can buy all types of legs from IKEA

  9. I read somewhere that this spray has a pungent odour and is only suitable for tiles, not hand towels.

Wash the towels in strong detergent like Cholrex and sun them in the hot sun. It will kill the mould

  10. My condo unit was bought in the secondary market.

On moving in, I noticed that some of the ceramic tiles, both on the wall as well as the floor were nicked.

These could have been made by careless workmen with the electric hand tools.

Is there any way that I could remedy the unsightly nicks?

Also, a hole which is about the size of a small coin has been gouged into the wooden floor in one of the bedrooms.

What can be done to fill this up properly?

    Thank you.

    Regards,

There is a wooden putty thatcan be used to cover up the hole. It is the same colour as in wood, thereby no repainting is necessary. If the hole is too deep, you need several layers. Apply after one layer has dried, and sandpaper to level any rough finish.

  11. Hi all,

I have crack lines on my toilet bowl after 1 year. It is a Saniton Camellia ST2488, provided by HDB. :furious:

I am thinking to DIY on changing it to a Baron. It is the cheapest and is available in the estore, which I could have it delivered to me at $15.

Is it hard to change the toilet bowl? Anyone have any suggestions or experiences on changing to share?

    :sport-smiley-003:

    Thanks

    KW

    Easy as ABC

Just break away existing toilet bowl and attached water cistern.with a sledge hammer.

Clean away all debris and lay at least 3 inch white cement round edge of toilet hole

Rest new bowl in alignment with hole and press down and scrape off excess cement.

Re drill holes in wall to mount water cistern.

Wait for two days for cement to dry before use
