  1. @tyming: Haha okay thanks! I should be getting mattress from them too!

@@11Nov: Oh my, I didn't know its that bad! Thanks for the heads up man! :D

BEWARE of Xclusive (opp IMM). I'm having headache with them, very stressful. Lies after lies. I'll update when I get solution from them. My advice is don't buy from them.

  2. Hi,

Honeywell and BlueAir are air purifier (and they dont look pretty). If i m not wrong these 2 brands are used in hospital but of coz the premium grade which cost $1000s. Personally i have a blueair, but used it for only couple of mths. My kids' PD does not think they are very helpful for sinus, asthma etc as it only help relief/improve slightly (eg, with med can relief till 90%, with purifier add'l 5-10% ) of health problems. We spent months looking for such machine and found out Negative Ion is Not suitable for asthmatic people (not sure abt sinus), and too much of it is actually not good even for people with no "breathing" problem. That was the reason why we got just a air purifier. Dont take my word wholesale, research more. My sil kids have sensitive air way too and she likes the blueair she has.

  3. Led driver with MR16 will be better choice.

    Logic thinking:

if you buy something 2 in 1 is better or standalone?

If i will buying i will buy seperate due to anyone spoil i just change either driver or LED lo.

If GU10, you will not know which one spoiled.

Since you bought it, don't regret.

If you go Ikea, Track light comes with 5 bulb type.

And make a good choice by keeping your cove lighting.

Track lighting & cove lighting give ambience and most important if your child need to study, please buy a table lamp for him/her. Thank you.

    hi terrygerrad

thank you for ur inputs, the "2in1 v stand alone" has been haunting me for weeks b4 i made the choice, it did not help when all my hb said was "y need to think so long, anything la"... i made my choice by comparing the costs, its $39 (2 in 1) v $60 (stand alone), so i took the 2 in 1 purely coz they r cheaper lol. tell myself dont look back, otherwise its pointless torture.

Thanks again for all the info you have given me :)...n ooh yes, we'll surely get lamps for the kids, dont want them end up with thick glasses heh

  4. I'll drop by megaman @ Jln besar this weeekend to check out thier price as I'd like to consider other brand.

    swiper,

yes good to look around more and consider other brands. We are simply too sian of walking around, looking at things that seem sooooo greek to us, best of all, my hb has NO opinion :s.....everything "up to u (me, wife) lo", moreover we have 3 young schooling kids, not easy to walk round the island with them.

My friend just did his reno and has installed LED recess lighting thru'out his home, his LEDs are from AI LED (local company, LEDs assembled in sin, but originate dont know where :D). We went for philips simply because LEDworks is a 1 stop shop for all...everything set up swee swee, just pt "i wan tis set-up, that set-up"... consolation is we only got 3x3m tracks, 10 LED GU10+holders, if not suitable, still not tt bad. Like i mentioned earlier, bathrooms/passage way/kitchen = existing false ceiling+PLC and balconies = existing hamburger ceiling lights, hence we are not going to change them.... we just want to take care of the "not there stuff" LOL.

Actually tis is our 3rd reno liao... but we still as "inexperience" as before LOL, terrible....ooh or rather coz the family setup is getting more complicated, hence the reno too...only 1 word to describe ---> SIAN

  5. Please remember philips LED 7W or 10W MR16 (GU5.3) come with mini fan.

Once mini fan fail then led will fail too.

    what is the warranty period?

LED has narrow angle as per comparison with halogen bulb.

depend of what angle you are taking too.

    Cheers.

How abt the Philips GU10 7w? I have gotten 40D beam angle, ok or not? we chose the GU10 coz no need external transformer, dont know its the correct thinking or not, its kind of too late to back out coz we hv gotten holders compatible with the GU10, though too late to do anything but still good to know what i am getting into.

I am wondering if Track lighting (how many bulbs needed?) is able to light up rooms of 3.5x2.7m and 3x2.5m? this is driving me nuts, as these 2 rooms are kids room, cannot be too dim, so its either LED track lighting or L Box recess lighting

LED is still v new, think we just took the plunge and be using it (track lighting), but to play safe, we including cove lighting too. leep my fingers crossed

  6. Hi swiped

All toilets, passage way, kitchen use normal downlights, balconies hamburger lights.

I'm using Philips led GU10 7w=50w (erm I also don't know y 7=50), no transformer needed. GU5.3 needs transformer but bulb smaller.

Got all from ledworks as we thought they seem knowledgeable also coz they r only one we found to hv dimmable capability (track n compatible dimmer), since I'm paying for Philips led bulb dimmable, I want to b able to dim them :P.

I don't think I got v good price, they r also fixed price like lightings.com. Holder $30. I take it as paying for reliability?(I don't know but they seem realiable heh). Also they hv the exact set up in showroom n we see that the set up doesn't flicker etc n dims v nicely.

My main concern is if led bulbs ( track light) are bright enough? I'm happy w my mbr/dining/living set up coz combine w cove shld b bright enough. Now I hv headache with my kids bedrooms. Do u think if I put 4-5pcs of gu10 7=50w on a single track in 1 bed room will b bright enough? We r considering L box vs track light as the existing light pt will b for fan (no fan kit). Btw the bedrms are 3.5x2.7m 3x2.5m.

  7. Is it advisable to have whole house installed with MR16 (10W LED). Lighting plan as follow:

    1. Living (size approx 3.5 X 4M) chandelier + cove + 2 X single MR16 ( [O] ) above TV

    2. Dining (size approx 2.5M X 4M) chandelier + cove + 4 X single MR16 ( [O] )

    3. Kitchen (size approx 4M X 2.5M) - 2 X 3 MR16 ( [OOO] )

    4. Bathroom (size approx 2.5M X 2M) - 1 X Single MR 16 ( [O] ) + 2 X 2 MR16 ([OO])

    5. Bedroom (size approx 3.5M X 3M) - 2 X 2 MR16 ( [OO] )

    * [O], [OO], [OOO] represent the number of "bulk".

Do you think it will be sufficient?

    Thanks

    Hi

I'm using LED Spot too (all philips GU10 7w=50w with dimmer), ceiling ht 3m with no false ceiling or L box. My sizes are similar to yours, however my reno starting only end Aug hence cant tell u if lighting is sufficient (but my hb say our lighting plan is overkill?!) :

    1. Living (size approx 3.5 X 4M) cove 2M on top of suspended cabinet + 3 X single MR16 ( [OOO] ) above TV + 3 X single MR16 ( [OOO] ) above sofa

    2. Dining (size approx 2.5M X 4M) Pendant light using Philips 18w=100w (this area is right beside living rm forming a long rectangle 6x4m hence share the "light" from 3 X single MR16 ( [OOO] ) above sofa)

    3. Kitchen (size approx 4M X 2.5M) - 2 X 3 MR16 ( [OOO] )

    4. Bathroom (size approx 2.5M X 2M) - 1 X Single MR 16 ( [O] ) + 2 X 2 MR16 ([OO])

    5. Bedroom (size approx 3.2M X 5.5M) - cove 3.5m on top of cabinet, 1 X 4 MR16 ( [OOOO] ) above bed head, 1x PLC (dont know the watt) in front of bathroom entrance/wardrobe

BTW, if u have alot of built in full hight carpentry, the room will become "smaller", hence lesser "bulbs" needed?

    * [OOO], [OOOO] represent the number of bulbs on a 1M track (using track lighting).

  8. No no, really the hse not big, normal 5 room flat size, just that the lay out of the mbr allows for extension of 3.5m wardrobe.

Thank you all for ur inputs, iv decided to go for it as it's good storage like what u'v mentioned as rest of the hse almost no storage space eg my kids rooms.

    but nice leh... i also want wallpaper, but expensive man... <img src="http://www.renotalk.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

    Hi January,

Nice wallpaper, may I know the name and where you order them? Thanks!

  10. The problem was that the balcony door could not clear the grass i.e. we could not open the balcony doors fully.

Will you have a similar problem like ours? If your balcony doors are the sliding type (ours are folding type), you will not face the same problem as us.

What are your consideration points? Maintenance? Aesthetics? Cost? Ease of installation? :sport-smiley-018:

    Hi ymjp

Your home has a very clean and cosy look :). nice colour combi too! I am considering faux grass for my balcony too, however my main concern is maintenance. I read that you vacuum the faux grass (I am V lazy, manually vacuuming sounds tough to me), you mentioned can spray water, wont water "hide" under the grass and takes forever to dry? May I know the cost for your size? so i can estimate for mine, thanks!

  11. Hi pal,

IMO, Bubble fan led is for deco purpose just like KDK ceiling fan.

Yup, I've installed the sleek design LED-light kit, not so bulky and look good... look at my thread... ;)

The brightness of each light is as good as a 23W energy saving bulbs, but using only 7W.... :jawdrop:

Can't really look directly on the light source.... :o

For a ceiling height of 3m, i would sugg that u use those downrod type of ceiling fan.

Mounting plate type will not be suitable.

The fan motor will not generate enough wind from that kinda height.

The furhter away from the fan blade the weaker will be the wind.

Unless you can accept that u'll have to turn on the full speed all the time.

    U can try this experiment.

Stand near the stand fan and stand further away the stand fan and feel the wind strength... u'll know what i meant.

There is hugger look ceiling fan using downrod look around and u'll be able to find it.

    Hope this helps ;)

    :drunk: pal

    Hi bro,

" There is hugger look ceiling fan using downrod look around and u'll be able to find it. " I already look quite hard liao, still nvr see leh... I just saw ur thread, nice fan witht he LED. Is this the fan you referring to? with a downward rod+LED light....the size is too big, but i saw u mentioned they coming out with the 42", this will be perfect. May i know where i can get them?

Also what is the optimal height to install ceiling fan.. I mean from the bottom of the fan to the floor. I am installing in my kids room, i worry they stand on bed n jump jump, raise hands can touch the fan :P

  12. haha bro..i wouldnt say that acrylic is the more "superior" material lah...

to me..the colour on metal is usually painted..so if you accidentally scratch it while cleaning..the paint will come off..the aluminium might oxidise..whats more..we sometimes have to use a bit of water to clean it...accelerating the oxidisation process.

the colour on is acrylic however added to the liquid acrylic and left to harden..so no worries about discolouration...and acrylic will not oxidise..and takes to water well.

correct me if im wrong...thats what i understand..

oh i see, thanks, i assume u are right as i know nuts abt such.
