  6. I added a picture of the tall cabinet in my kitchen my earlier post. Do check it out. I also like to share how I hang my bags In the living room cabinet, the right side has no shelves as I believe ex-owner put her broom, ladder, etc as she tore down the storeroom. Now I use it to hang my bags and caps: Front-view: I attach a U-hook to the top shelf belonging to the top section of the cabinet. Then I hang the plastic chain (80 cents per metre). In between, I use S-hooks to hang my bags. I buy dual-hook at $1.20 from hardware store to screw into the wall of the cabinet to fully make use of all the space I have.
  7. Nope, they are all DIY painted by hubby, I and my kids They are not laminated wood but naytoh lacquered wood. The folding door of the study room, living room cabinet and all the recess sliding cabinets below the living/dining, study and 2 bedrooms - yup, all painted using NIPPON BORDELAC matt white paint (for wood). I sandpaper lightly, used JOTUN primer to paint 1st layer and then NIPPON BORDELAC matt white. I was quoted 1+K by my painter if I wanted him to paint the above. I was also quoted 5K if I want to hack away and rebuilt the cabinets and another 1.5K for a new folding door. Not willing to spend this money so I spend $80 for sandpaper, roller brushes, 1 can of 5L Jotun, 1 can of 5L NIPPON paint and 2.5 days to paint everthing listed above. I have not figured out how to paint over laminated wood. If I know, I would paint over my TV console in living room and perhaps even my CD tower and bookcase in my study room
  8. she is really into art... Thanks for your compliments
  9. Not heavy and I dont bring these rods down. I use them as hanging bedsheets, towels. I put them up onto big hangers (that I bought from Toyogo warehouse 2 for $3) and hang the hangers onto the rods using ladder SS water pipes come in 2 sizes - 0.6 inch and 0.9 inch (I think). I shd have got the 'fatter' one as laundry rods but functionality-wise no difference. My contractor bought them (laundry rods and towel rods) for me; did not ask me to pay the 2nd time. He only charged me the 1st time when I asked him to buy the curtain rods which he charged me $50 for whole-house curtain rods which included 4 bedrooms and living room. That was a total of 18.2m / 60 feet. To hang my usual laundry - i use IKEA clothes dryer at $19 - cheap and good.
  10. She is 9. We still have some pices not hung up...waiting to purchase more from as-is corner in IKEA Put 2 of her paintings on the bookcase in study room too...in case you did not notice White panels - no choice...matt Bordelac NIPPON only comes in white or black. We did not want the shiny Bordelac paint. The original was brown lacquered Naytoh wood
  11. Thanks for the tip. But if I box up the bathroom pipes, toilet bowl will be too close to the cement box-up ....too close ...stupid toilet layout ....sigh hence in the end, just leave the pipes exposed. in your opinion, could the aircon piping be concealed beneath the floor tiles? what is the disadv of doing so?
  12. But my aircon guy wants to play it safe and does not allow my wetwork guy to bury wor
  13. the black shelf in my master bedroom? My carpenter did it FOC for me. It is just a simple shelf laminated in black glossy laminate.
  14. I hack toilet wall tiles. I did not hack kitchen & service bal wall tiles - cement screed, plaster and paint.
  15. The decal - my MIL's relative got from Malaysia...dont know where. I 'stole' the idea of re-using cutout solid top from fftw But you need to consider if the colour of solid top matches that of the toilet wall tiles. Mine is white for both so ok.
  16. It's a black rubber stud which you can easily buy from any hardware store. The shape is kinda conical. I only stuff the stud for the 2 towel rods as the rods are at eye level.
  17. But I did not install windows wor. Can ask or not? Scare they sue me for painting their wall
  18. Thanks for introducing the Aluminium Composite Panel to me. One tip : I live on #09 so you need to let them know that when you order. I emailed them my order and mistakenly put address as #01 and as a result, only 1 man delivered and the 8 feet panel cannot go into lift. So the man, my helper and I had to carry it all the way to #09. The man says you either ask them to cut into smaller pieces to fit into the lift else you got to provide your own manpower to help to carry it up
  19. I uploaded the picture in my blog http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?sh...t=0#entry556159
  20. AFTER - Master Toilet Similar to kitchen black-n-white toilet. Also using the white solid top from kitchen to build the mirror tray and shower tray. Stainless steel piping beneath toilet sink. Stainless steel floor traps. Aircon piping: Clever way to meet both criteria - HDB does not allow burying of aircon piping & asethetically look ok. Build a 'long kang' to drain the water into the wet shower area. This is build behind bifold door.
  21. AFTER - Master Bedroom I love the colour of my master room. It is NIPPON Tender and Harmonious Purple. My storage bed had been with me for 8 years but the headboard looked tired. So I asked my carpenter to do up a simple headboard (FOC...learnt this idea from a forummer) and I painted it black. He also installed for me. The side table is actually covered over by a black cloth as I had SCANTEAK nested tables (3 of them) and did not know what to do with them. Asked MIL to machine sew according to size. The table which i used to hold my printer was one of the nested table. The 3rd table is used as bedside table next to the SEAHORSE storage bed. The black shelf was also FOC from my carpenter. Black bracket is $1 from IKEA.
  22. AFTER - Bedroom2 Only did up the wardrobe. Consists of 6 feet sliding wardrobe as this room is the smallest in the house. The storage bed was the only piece of furniture we bought; from SEAHORSE. Huge storage space...great for luggages The headboard of this bed cannot be used in this room as it would cause the door not to close. So I had to give the headboard to my other girl and asked my carpenter to make this simple headboard (FOC) which I painted white. Looking for big piece(s) of sponge so that I can DIY a proper headboard for my girl (will use cloth and thumb tacks to secure). Anyone knows where to buy big piece(s) of sponge? The curtains are beautiful...though the photo does not do justice to it.
  23. AFTER - Bedroom1 Only did up the wardrobe. Consists of sliding portion 6 feet and an attached casement portion 2 feet....learn this idea from another forummer...thanks. Re-used the super-single pullout bed. Decorated IKEA MELODI pendant lamp with felt cloth. Pendant lamp cost $13 including lighting kit. The pink portion on the right side of the photo is the casement portion.
  24. AFTER - Hallway to bedrooms. I installed track light to highlight my little girl's paintings that I put up along the hwallway leading to bedrooms. Bought the black picture frames from as-is corner in IKEA at $3 for 1 and $7 for the other 3. Original was $19. To stretch the canvas cost me $18 each so searched for this cheaper solution. .
  25. AFTER - Kitchen Toilet Went for a basic black-white toilet. Shower screen $180 Shower tray is cut out from my solid kitchen top....learn this from fftw...thanks. Stove - cut out into 2 pieces - used for toilet mirror Sink - cut out into 2 pieces - used for shower tray at shower area. Stupid layout of bathroom forced the sink to be installed near toilet entrance. Sink is same size as master toilet...should have gotton a smaller sink.
