    Hi,

    Beside opaque backsplash, did anyone do up a transparent backsplash?

    Something like those stalls in foodcourts..

    Will the (silicon) joint be affect by the heat and oil?

    You have nothing on the back of your backsplash? If you have a wall backing then it depends on the colour of your wall if you are using transparent glass. If you have white wall backing then the glass will appear greenish. I did a black glass backsplash.

    Heard a lot about cracking for glass hob, but really, whose glass hob has cracked? Only know that for tempered glass hob, don't seal the edges cos they are weakest at the edges, must allow for expansion. Guess the same applies for backsplash, depends on how they install it.

    You are right! My contractor said the same too. He didn't seal the edges of my tempered glass hob and his reasons were exactly what you said .....

    Cement screeding are porous unless you have a coating over it to block the absorption of moisture otherwise you will experience damp walls and water proofing for floors have to be done with caution.

    This is one of the reasons why I did not cement screed my toilets but I cement screed my entire kitchen walls. Turned out beautiful and am infact super duper pleased.

    Anyway just my thoughts on cement screeding toilets! Do consider carefully ....

    Please do not go to this shop located in Geylang. Bought all my 2 toilet's toilet bowl, mixers, heater, sink, taps, Kitchen hob, hood, mixer etc. Called them up regarding a problem with my MBR mixer and the salesman tried to push all the fault and say its not theirs. I ask whose fault is it then and he kept quiet. I asked him to get his man to come and take a look and he say cannot. So i said its my own problem and he started flaring up over the phone. A warning to all who are gonna reno the house, stay clear of this shop!!!

    I bought my sanitary wares, kitchen hobs, hood, mixers and accessories from them and was served by Penny. I must really give credit to her for her patience as I am not an easy customer. She took time to explain everything I asked. Anyway I had no problems with them at all. My ID liaise with them regarding delivery and installation and he commented that they were very helpful in providing information and service. In fact he recommended quite a few of his clients there too. I sincerely hope they can solve your problem. Perhaps you wish to elaborate the problem of your mixer?

    Hi my mum is doing this to one of the walls in her hall as it is fully tiled.We decided to make it a feature wall instead.Maybe u can paint it a darker shade and use the wall stickers they have to make it look better if u are concern abt it looking boring.Kitchen 2 can have feature wall i feel.

    Good Idea! Does your mum's walls absorb moisture or does it become powdery?

    i did part of my kitchen wall this way to cut tiling costs. looks great to me. btw, i only saved $350 in going with this option.

    I opt for this as I would be saving something like $800.

    Do you face any problems with the walls? Does it absorb the kitchen fumes? Does it attract cockroaches or lizards? Does it look boring?

    we came across this hob on promotion at Expo. must say the salesman was quite convincing. The actual company that brought in this hob is Roman. The same company that has booths in malls, heartland shops that bring in the blue mop, clothes rack and other household stuffs.

    Too bad they employ the same marketing tactic to sell such a high price product. I don;t think there's anything wrong with the product itself. VC is not exactly new technology, hopefully, the product is covered well by a good warranty to service the sensor switches, elements etc which will normally spoil first for ALL brands.

    As long as your home can take the power load, i don;t see why you need to give up the $100 deposit.

    I was at the Expo on the last day and actually placed a deposit for it. It is indeed a very impressive product. It heats up extremerly fast. I was actually taken in by the demonstration. I havent taken delivery of the unit till my place is done up so can't really comment much. I sure hope I made a good decision.

    In my honest opinion, I think you will be overpaying if you engage them.

    For both toilets, typical rates including tempered shower screen door is between $2,900~$3,500 per toilet.

    Your contractor is fleecing you in the kitchen area.

    If you are doing masonry work for 2 toilets & kitchen, it should cost no more than $10~$12K depending on tiles used. Therefore, I leave you to guess how much you will be fleeced.

    PS. Buy a $5K IKEA kitchen system with solid top will still leave you with some cash remaining :)

    Ohhhh dear me ..... thanks for your opinion! Is there anyone here who could recommend me someone that is reasonable to do my kitchen & 2 bathrooms? HELP!!!! desperate situation now ... flat is vacant for a month liao!
