  1. Hi, I like to ask if the hinges for my bedroom door is normal? Does anyone has hinges install like mine? http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/209/img3072t.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/441/img3071ei.jpg/
  2. Design4Space. Anyway we are still not sure if they will rectify the defects to our expectations. Will post on carpentry when they are completed and rectify.
  3. Hacking process Permit was applied on the same day of completion and we met the coordinator on the same day to discuss what is staying and what is going. We gave an extra key to the main door to him coz we wanted to lock the main door as the door couldn't close properly. The next morning, he called me asking me if we lock d main door and we said yes. He then asked us if we wanted to change the lockset, we said yes. So he said he will tell him man to hack d lockset so they can start work. Can you imagine that shock we had when we went up that evening to see our door like this? http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/217/imagetuzv.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/189/img27641.jpg/ Next is the open net cable. It was cut into half! http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/6/img27921r.jpg/ Otherwise, the hacking seems to be smooth.
  4. Couldn't find my old blog and hence starting a new one. As the name applies, we are upsizing our flat to a 5I and from an urban area to a rural area (at least to me). While waiting for completion, we spend time sourcing for contractor/ ID. After talking more than 5, we shortlisted 3 and finally 1. Our reno is going to end soon (hopefully) so I am now sharing our experience with them. What I can say is there could be good coordinator in the company like the one doing for Fatfatfamily. But mine, we can only shake our head. Please kindly bear with me. Coordination and management First of all, we told our coordinator we are not in a rush so they don't need to hurry. We only want a smooth reno journey! We only request them to finish the tiling work before CNY. We do not want any sloppy job or any trouble after a few months. No deadline was given, no schedule was given. Because we have our own lobang for electrical and window works, he said he will task them when to do the works. Throughout the whole reno journey (at least 90% done), he only called once to our electrician! Is one call enough to coordinate the works???!! As for windows and aircon, my hb is the one calling and asking them to do. Is it because we have our own lobang so he don't need to do tasking? Why in the first place, he told us if we can use our ppl and he do the tasking? Next our open net cable is cut on the first day of hacking. When we asked him what happened, he told us the cable is very fragile and can be broken very easily. If your men don't know how to handle the electrical cables, please inform our electrician to keep it instead of doing yourselves! Now we have to pay extra money to ask the open net people to relay the cable. The appointment date keeps changing and changing. From end of March to mid April. When asked for the exact date, he told us a date but will double confirm. We waited for him to confirm but no news. Just yesterday, I asked him for the exact date and the person he is liasing with. He mentioned that he will send the details to me. Till now, nothing from him. We did not expect him to be at the site everyday. But we feel that he is there only when we complained about the works!! We don't need him to bring us to buy lightings or sanitary ware. But at least manage your men properly!! When the carpentry is up, we saw some defects and told him the things that need to redo. We are not even sure if he relay the correct message to his carpenters! We have to repeat the whole thing again to the carpenter again. Seems to us that we are doing his job! If you is too busy to handle our project, please feedback to your boss and change another coordinator. To be continued later....
  5. Can you PM me the contact for hardware shop?

Also did you buy and pass them to your carpenter and they fix up for you?

  8. Some updates First appointment: 12 Nov 2012 Second appointment: 7th Jan 2013 We are glad that d sellers did not ask for extension as their new flat is not ready and they have to rent another house. Reno- ID confirmed. Will be choosing tiles this weekend. Furniture- Got a package from Cellini Electricals- Have been looking around for cheap deals but decided to wait for any sale that comes along next year.

  11. Hi hi, We engaged the same ID firm!! But we have yet to collect our keys. Have a smooth reno journey.
  12. Starting a blog to keep a record for our second home.. Sold our first unit in Aug and started our search for another resale flat in the West. Went to look at a few units including 4RM and 5RM. Finally saw a 5RM Improved unit which has 4 rooms instead of 3 which is what I liked. The study room can be used as a playroom for my girls now and convert into a study when they are older. While waiting for the first appt, we searched for ID/ contractor. Went to IMM to have a look at the ID and collected some reno packages. But did not approach any one of them. Instead we looked in Renotalk for some recommendations and shortlisted about 10. Out of 10, only 1 did not get back to us. We started meeting the IDs. After meeting with the ID, we finally shortlisted 3. Had a hard time deciding on which one coz each one has something that we like. Last weekend, we finally settle on Design4space coz their package seems pretty comprehansive and of course we top up certain things. Hopefully we can get our keys soon but I guess it will only be in late Dec/ early Jan since first appt in mid Nov.
