  1. So far i done business twice with them. Once for the installation of the door lock and second time was for the purchase of the door remote.

    I think they are ok.

As for IMM one, I had my special door peep hole installed by them. It's good but pay a bit higher price due to more secured warranty and peace of mind. They are expensive also due to having to pay rental.

    Hi MichaelAng,

So u bought it from interlock?

I went to IMM today saw 2 shops carriny Yale and another shop at level 3 (i think) carrying full range of samsung and Gateman digital locks..

It seems Yale is the bsst selling product cost at $998

Can share your experience with Interlock?

As im afraid on the battery issue too...worrying midnight the lock with beep beep beep non stop~ :dunno:

  2. I think the key thing with anything that uses battery is to change it regularly even if it seems like it is still working. Don't wait till it leaks.

Interlock recommended that I change it yearly without fail. Mine still have 8 months to go when the time comes, i will change it w/o a heartbeat. Battery aren't so expensive anymore.

  3. Hi,

Firstly, I must state that I have no relation to this shop and do not have any shares in it.

I just happened to be a satisfied customer who just had this window film done.

I did windows for my 2 rooms + living + study room for a total of $680. I was quoted elsewhere around 1k.

The name of this vendor is Solarlight and is run by this couple who also do the instal themselves. It's quite well done and was rather quick.

The price range from 2 to 5.50 including installation. I chose the 5.50 one.

Is it effective? Well, i have a UV reader and a handheld temperature monitor. Before it reads 1.5 UV and 42degree at my window. Immediately after install at the single panel, UV is zero and temperature dropped to 37. Not too bad. Guess have to monitor.

If you guys any interest, you may contact them directly. The couple is Mr Tan and his wife is Karen. Their phone number is 90697099 and 92237758. I don't think they got a shop but the address they gave me is 621 Aljunied Road #04-02 Lipo Factory Building.

Let them know that Michael recommended them. Btw, I don't get any commission... just want to share a good lead.

    Cheers

    Michael

  4. I did. THe service I received from Andy of IMM was good.

The installation was done professionally and the installers were quite nice. I complained of some water condensation one month after install and the person who installed it followed up with me.

It's a far cry from the G*** C*** service I received during my last install at my old place.

    Hi Reno members,

I'm looking into getting Mitsubishi Electric Sys 3 non-inverter R410A.

Heard from my friend that All Best @ IMM has a better offer.

Has read from the forum about some bad experience encountered by some members who purchase from them years back.

Anyone purchased aircon from them recently? How's their service and support?

    Appreciate your sharing. TIA.

  5. The normal alluminum type of grilles won't deter any type of burglar to be honest. They are so **** soft... can even bend using bare hand. The main purpose of those is to prevent kids from climbing over it.

Installing iron wrought ones are the best but are expensive and unsightly.

I installed alarm at all possible windows and doors that has a risk. It wont prevent but once activated, it would give the burglar a good scare and prevent him from doing anything more.

I also have a window grille facing the balcony. I just make sure that the windows are locked every night before I go to bed or if we are going out. We never undo the grille locks. There are two window locks (built in to the windows) and two grille locks (built in to the grille). Btw these grilles that I have facing the corridor are stainless steel grilles, not the usual aluminium ones that we install for the room windows.

If you are really worried, you can put a padlock on the grille so that it cannot be opened - guess that should help to a certain extent? The ex-owner of my place had something like 3-4 padlocks on the stainless steel grille! :P

  6. Hi,

Just wondering, did you put Alkaline batteries or normal batteries into the remote. If I am not wrong, we should never put alkalines one as they are too strong for the circuits causing the remote to burn quickly.

    Hi All,

I just want to share my experience with Elmark fans. I bought a total of 4x EL3888 VIP 9 models. 3 of them come with lightings and all of them come with remote control each.

Just for the convenience, i was willing to fork out a freaking big amount of money just to buy the remote controls. And to my surprise, 2 out of the 4 remote controls are not responding/working anymore after 5 months.

This is the 2nd time i am going to call Elmark to service my fans and lightings. The 1st time was due to bad motor on 1 of the fans.

Buyers beware! What a crappy electronics design they done. You pay for expensive remote controls and you get monkey performance.

  7. Hi,

I always wanted to have a fire extinguisher in the car but I am told that I should not keep any compressed gas container in the car especially it is is parked in the hot sun.

Is your products certified for keeping in hot car?

Also, for the home, can your product be wall mounted?

    Thanks

    Michael

  8. I second that! I had Jura, Saeco and now finally Nespresso for the last 1 1/2 years. It's just so easy and can sample any one of the 16 favours without having to wait till the existing favour runs out in the machine.

And cleaning is just so simple.. i love my nespresso a lot!

nespresso is the best.. easy to make, easy to cleanup.

  9. seems logical, as i have heard many pple saying it's not good to unplug the power supply to the condenser unit as it will shorten the life of the compressor for the reasons stated above...

maybe i will install one 24-hour timer to cut the supply of the condenser before i leave the home and turn on 3 hours before i come back home....

question is, SG weather is not tat cool, so what exactly is their required temperature to keep the refrigerant suitable for anytime use?

That sounds very much like our car. It needs to be warmed up before driving at higher speed. So always starts slow so as to warm up and ensure that the engine oil is of the right visocity and coated the relevant parts.

I doubt the ambient outside temperature of 30 - 37 degree is enough to warm up the liquid then especially when it cools down at night. But using a timer to on and off the compressor sounds like a good idea. The problem is that it might be hard to get a timer that would fit the electrical plugs for the compressor and it likely not using the same as normal else I can use those I am currently using for my fish tank to do the job.

  10. aircon spoil is replaced aircon, nothing to do with piping if they are installed well in the first place. they are independent cases.

Oh I see. That's interesting. I didn't know that one does not need to change piping when change zircon. So it is a permanent fixings? That means the quality of this installation is very important.

Also mean that someone I enquire few months back tried to con me by saying I need to replace my entire piping so as to fit into the new aircon.

  11. I entirely agree with you. Hopefully we can get the relevant people to put the records right. I guess it's a matter of personal priority.

Would be interesting to know how the other brands do this if not by heater.

Those standby power numbers were excerpt from confirmations right from the horse's mouth, via their Singapore office, copied to NEA.

On the pre-heating - at no point during the exchanges with the brand M people did condensation came up as a reason. The only reason quoted was the pre-heating is needed for keeping some oil properly separated from coolant, something like this. So it is speculation.

On the R22 / R410 tingy- I fully support R410 but I am sure brand M is not the only with using R410. The only reason brand D is not using is because Singapore's law does not mandate it until recently, and probably consumer do not want to pay more. At no point did brand M Japan people quote the type of coolant is the reason too. So it is speculation.

I have tried to be very objective in my investigation by first getting NEA to confirm my findings that the condensers are really the culprits. Then, I wrote to brand M people, kind of insisted that they take up the issue with their Japan designers. The findings are their answers to observations I had and they do indeed explain the phenomenon. I did told them that I may share some findings with Singaporeans for the sake of getting to be more energy conscious.

Therefore, whether the additional $10-25 per condenser per month means anything to you, matters to you is entirely your call. What I am saying is that all manufacturers should be honest about their green statement, and be true to it, and not just merely appear to be legit quoting some regulations that have not caught up with time.

  12. I have just placed orders for the M brand for system 4 too. I do find the additional cost of maintaining the compressor on standby sounds a bit excessive at $50 for 2 condensers. So assume I only have one so that is $25 per month more?

If paying just $25 more per month keeps the inverter aircon working longer, I won't mind doing so. Reason being, most of us going to have some part of the piping hidden behind false walls, cabinets etc. If the compressor spoilt much earlier, that means having to tear down many of these to reach the piping so as to replace the aircons. Imagine the amount of work damage done.

My upstairs neighbours aircon compressor kept leaking and I have asked them to checked. THey claim they didn't switch it on. Now there is a possibility that this is due to this condensation. My point is, Singapore likely to have aircon condensation problems.

In any case, I do find the standby wattage a little high, wonder if we could verify this with the Mitsubishi Electric Japan. Wonder if the numbers were lost in translations. ha

  13. Hi,

I was on the verge of placing order for the Phiilip downlights I saw at lightings.com but they were out of stock. I went to a few neighbouring shops to enquire and they told me that digital ballast like those used in philips lightings don't last due to the heat. Old magnetic ballast last longer. Is it true?

Any one have feedback regarding the philip downlights? I used the old Osram ones for the last 11 years without having to change but they are starting to flicker a lot more while starting up.

Wanted to get the phillips one as the cover is screwed on and seems much easier to change bulbs.

    Any one?

    Thanks with regards,

    Michael

  14. Hi

Mine is a 5 Room HDB flat with 110 sqm.I wanted your advise on the Type of sofa set that is good for my floor plan( L -Shape or 3+2)

Appreciate all your ideas and Thanks a lot for ypur time

    5i_dp.jpg

looking at the L shape of your living room and assuming you would use the part closest to the balceny for your sofa, i would think a 3+1+1 would seems more flexible in case the 2 is unable to fit in... a L shaped sofa would also have the same problem if too long..
