Hi all,
I will be renovating a old landed soon and the previous owner has turned down the opennet installation...
Just like to ask landed owners here where does the cables comes in from? And how to hide the cables...
Thanks in advance!
For mine, it comes in the same under-ground pipes as the phone line. At least that is for mine as I am also rebuilding my place also.

Hello all,
I'm looking for faucets, sinks, toliet for my place, where can i go to look for those? been to sim siang choon in changi. didnt find anything we like there.
where else can i go?
i saw there is a promotion going for grohe in imm, but i couldn't find it online, anyone know of any shop that carries grohe?
Grohe products are spread accross Singapore but not many retailers are carrying the full range. You may want to go to their showroom in TaiSeng to have a look. 1 hint that I learned from their staff, ask for the max discount of 30%. The sales staff tends to only give 10~15 % because of their commission, but they can go to 30% on most of the items.

Thank you for reply. Kindly advise which product of wax (i.e. product name and where you got it) that you used?
It doesn't matter the type of hard wax you use as all the wax used for car polish contain the compound to create a smooth lapping effect to remove the oxidised surface. But just as a reference, I used the hard wax for metallic paint by KIT.
-
Thank you. I tried using WD40 but it didn't work.
Looks like you may have some stubborn whitish stain. Maybe you can try using car's hard wax for the 1st time. I did this on my shower screen doors the last time and it worked for me. Afterwhich, I only need to use the magin sponge to wash them away.

Hi, anyone using AO Smith storage water heaters. Initially was thinking using Heat pump water heaters but was deterred by the initial cost and also the initial heatup time needed to heat the tank water (1-2 hours).

Anyone tried AO Smith storage heaters ? Care to share experience

Table from OM Home.
Thanks. Can share how much you bought it?

Thank you everyone for the great suggestions & recommendations!
After reading the advices, it may be a good idea to just use homeplug or wireless adapter for the connection, instead of going through the painful renovation work just for a wiring... Sad the cable was not laid out in the first place...
BTW, let's say we're renovating a new place, is it possible to have a wire installed in the trunking just for the purpose as a "pulling assistance", for future addition of wires such as this case? I'm a layman in renovation works... just wondering how it can be done
A big THANK YOU to everyone! Have a wonderful day ahead~
This will depend large on the size of the trunking used and how much space left inside the trunking. I doubt very much space left. Before you attempt to try, best to check how pack the trunking is 1st.

Was browsing through the trend and was not able to find much info on this. I am in the mids of renovating my place and was thinking of setting up a video intercom system between the main / back gate with some form of security feature.
Anyone in the forum can help to enlightening this. Thanks.
Anyone to share their experience with other systems like the Panasonic Video Intercom system?
-
Hi Oneuser, I think you should try the next alternative using the Homeplug system. It removes the costly networking cables but utilize the exisiting electrical house network to achieve the networking function.

This is super super cheap for a 3.5-storeys corner terrace reconstruction.
Congratulations on getting this super super deal.
Thanks. As I mentioned, take note of what you want and what you have with the condtions of the place. This would make your bargaining easlier.

I read the next thread too.. but think that lady is using a famous award winning architect and probably going for higher end finishings. I'm prob going to be much more conservative and boring... just average stuff can already, my only must have requirements is marble floor and a really nice kitchen! I like simple and clean lines and I think will be fine with a simpler and efficient design.
Just to share. I am also redoing my 2 storey corner terrace and reconstruct to become 3.5 storeys with side expansion to maximize the use of the land. Depending on what you are doing and with some planning, you need not be spending over 700K to redo the place. During my hunt for a constructor, I noticed that these companies tends to use a standard method to calaculate by PSF. I got also quotes of 1.3m to redo at the end I managed to get it at around 650K to redo my place which is still currently under re-construcion and expected to complete by April this year.
I don't see the need to be using famous companies to redo the place, instead should settle fo 1 that can do the job but with good level of quanlity. Before I decide on this current team, I went round visiting the few developers on their jobs (1st the comleted or near to complete units and to then to sites that are still under about 40% complete), this is to view their standard and I believe this is an very important factor on deciding the firm to use.

One of my colleague told me that once Open Net has installed the Termination Box, I need not lay extra cable in the unit to wired up the 2-storey. Is this true?
Is there a need to check if the cable that Open Net use is it Cat5 or Cat6? As my husband is saying we should lay Cat6 cable for future upgrade.
Thanks again.
The cables OpenNet installed is Fiber Optics cables. Cat5 & 6 are network connection to link the house terminals. Its a different item. Yes, your hubby is right. To lay the network cables, Cat 6 would be a better choice. Before you decide, you should try to understand the difference between 6a and 6e cables also.

Bought this long tempered glass dining table from OM. Can extend from 1.8M to 2.4M. Perfect for my family of 6 and any gatherings.
Also bought 4pcs of the KDK M11SU fans for the kids' rooms and dining rooms. Living hall will have the huge KDK V60WK and masterbedroom will be installed with the V56VK. All white colour. Wanted Haiku but costs is not justifiable. Paid total less than $1400 for 4 fans vs just 1pc Haiku bamboo fan.
Hi, saw your table. may I know where you purchased it from? Thank you

Renovation work in my flat has started.
A kind neighbour brought it up to us that we need get in touch with OpenNet to get the fibre optics cable laid as we are required to make an appointment for them to come down to our flat to pull the cable line, it is best is get a date whereby the electrician is doing the wiring job so these cable lines can be concealed.
1) There are various types of cable, namely Cat5, Cat5e and Cat6. I was told that Cat5e works just good but if we can afford
it ($$ wise) get Cat6. For those of you who are using Cat6, is there a great difference between Cat5e and Cat 6? How much
is the cost difference?
2) I intend to run the cable from our TV console in the living room. We like to idea of having all the 3 rooms in the 2nd
floor to have FO.
How many metres is required (approximate)if I want to ensure that all the rooms have connection? And what will the cost of it (approximate)?
3) I heard that we should not get the router from service provider (e.g. Singtel) as the one provided is not good. The best
option is buy our own router.
In this case, which brand and model is reliable for stable connection and for good upload speed?
I heard the prices offered by the telco (e.g. Singtel, M1 etc) varies, largely depends on the cable we are given (or is there a choice)? and also the types of routers being offered. So I really would like to know more and what I am paying for.
Thanks for the time in reading my post and responding to my inquiries.
P/S: I can't really decide until some of these questions are answered.
You may also want to conside Homeplugs which is also good option, readily available but best time to buy would be during the computer shows typically once every 3 months. The next one is scheduled in March this year.

Hi Guys,
Anyone know where to get Grohe Rainshower Set and Toilet Accessories at a competitive price beside the Interior Affairs Sale?
Thanks in advance.
I think the discount at the Grohe sales by Interior Affairs are well above the market allowable discount since the pricing are very much control by them. So far, the best you can get is around 30% even at Interior Affairs (if you know how to press the sales for discount).
