    a) Lighting.com

The de facto standard found in most forum so we decided to shop at the jalan besar branch.

Bought a total of 10 lightings from them. They are cheap BUT BUT not much selection leh... :(

    b) LC lighting

Bought the rest 4 at the balestier plaza area.Price is mid range BUT selection is a lot.

    c) Phillips at BT

bought one ecomood at $268!a bit exp but ilove it!

  3. read in the papers that some units in my estate broken in during their reno, combination locks tampered with...still very concerned that my main gate can't use the padlock...maybe i should change the main gate altogether...but gate is new now change abit wasted man... :(

  4. They look fantastic, lazybum! Trust me - I've lived in more places than I can count - about 12 homes whilst renting in Australia - I was quite a vagabond and liked to shift yearly or twice yearly just to experience a different suburb, and I can tell you - GREY TILES ARE THE BEST. For concealing hair, dirt, stains, pet hair etc - GREY!

One of the few places I lived in Australia with grey tiles in kitchen:

    And grey tiled bathroom:

Naturally, I went with grey tiles for the wet kitchen for my current home :P

    Thanks for the compliment Ely1...

  5. today went to harvey norman sale @ suntec...walked into exhibition hall but find that most stuffs that we wanna get are not available...quite disappointed with the fair...should have went to the gain city one...anyway we did our homework and got the lowest prices for each appliance in town so went over to millenia walk HN to take a look...they are renovating some sections which happened to be the electrical appliances so another wasted trip... :bangwall:

walked back to suntec and realised that there's HN store in suntec...decided to go there to see look...spoke to a salesgal who doesn't seems to know much of products but willing to call agents to enquire more...their prices are quite ok comparing the big players but not with my lowest price...a few calls to her manager and she is able to match my price...big big hole in wallet now...

  6. was planning to use that space.. but after talking to the ID, seems like the depth of the microwave my wife wants is too deep. It is almost the same as the bottom cabinet. Will block and window and make the kitchen look even smaller and harder to bring down the clothes hanger. So now got to search got a place to put the microwave again.. haiz..

How is your reno going on? Me about 2 more weeks and furniture coming on the 16th April liao.

whats your depth of the microwave??? i plan to stack dryer (depth=600mm) on the washer so like what u said some part of window will be blocked but no choice mah...initially had to remove the ez dryer but after some thoughts, found that maybe can shift the ez dryer towards the citygas heater...i just need to shift 160mm so enable pulling down the hanger...dimensionally it seems ok but have not execute yet so dunno can work not but should be fine...worst case for me is remove the hanger if i miscalculated...maybe u can try try this...

  7. it seems like gate installed wrong side

if say follow the main door laminate... right side should be the small panel

can u tell us how u gonna use padlock? i very curious to know

i have no ways to use any padlock...so dumb the design and developer can claimed they are not in any wrong and that the gate is approved by HDB...

  8. HH say they will come and see first.. Then my main door is peeling. Whole piece is coming off.. HH will only help to stick it back.. I cannot image after 1 year. what is the problem we can face.

My wife saw one microwave/oven that she like but it is pretty big.. not sure how to find a space for it man.

is door going to be under the 1 yr warranty too??? if not, can tell HH that u going to get your contractor to change and charge the cost to them cos they are not rectifying the problem, just sweeping it under hoping it's fine...

i thought u are using the space above the washer to wall mount the microwave???

  9. so far painting is done and found a lump of the wall after changing the color.. asking HH to fix for me. Den next week carpenter will come and fix up my stuff liao.. bro, ask u huh, where do u put microwave/oven? Will you get an oven under the hob?

a lump??? so how is HH going to do???

i'm getting the Sharp AX-1500V..plan to put this on the solid top near the entrance...if u never change hob, the dimension is just nice...

  10. Hi Lazybum,

Just a few points to note on the trap.... I was informed that HDB rules now ask for the cover of the trap to extend in to the pipe to make sure the water flows directly to the pipe and does not splash against the concrete. The tile on top, if I understand correctly what has been done as you have no pictures under the tile) will not be supported in the centre and will most likely break is a heavy weight is put on it (washing machine foot etc). Just be careful getting the appliances in. Lastly, the small gap around the tile is likely to get clogged with dust / hair / general kitchen stuff after a while. As the trap will be under the washing machine I am guessing you will not be able to clean it so easily.

Sims do some nice concealed traps in a variety of colours but as there was no 'neck' to force the waste water in to the pipe underneath we ended up having to not get them.

    RB

the trap is actually some height above the pipe so the tile and trap are touching each other...i'm not sure of the location of the legs of the WM...hopefully it's not zhun zhun located at the centre of this tile...thanks for reminding...

  11. i'm going to reselect my kitchen tiles tmr...

i might just pick the similar kind as yours...

including the kitchen cabinet laminate... :P

    agree

the laminate and floor tiles looks good :good:

glad that the tiles and laminate are not clashing...

  12. ya, agree black looks better

    red abit off

in my previous place, we gotten solid top as well - do note that you are not suppose to place anything hot on solid surface esp. black solid top , the color will change

maybe the one i gotten cannot withstand high temp

thx for sharing...i will check with willie on mine...

  13. In case you are wondering why the pictures are stamped with this guy called "Alan Wee". We are not advertising for him. He is the seller's agent and we found our place on propertyguru.com.

We ended up engaging his colleague as buyer's agent. Actually didn't think we could have gotten the flat otherwise, cuz there were other interested buyers offering higher COVs.

She has a somewhat funny name too - Coco.

Collecting our keys next week! Nothing done!

    Anyway, here's the floorplan. :)

    Floorplan.jpg

others offered higher COVs and u got it??? the seller like u folks and entrust their hse to u...

  14. today started on tiling...

    dscf4480h.jpg

went up to see the WM base specifically to ensure the base is dimensionally correct as i can only fit the WM after the pipe, but tiler took WM's depth starting from wall, instead of pipe...heng cement still wet, took some tiles out and added the small row...

    dscf4496x.jpg

and plastic trap was at the top, exposed...didn't like it there so asked tiler to conceal it under...

    now u see it...

    dscf4490a.jpg

now u don't...the tile is just put on top of the trap but don't think will touch it anymore as WM will sit on it...

    dscf4492.jpg

loved the tile colour... :yeah: now think black solid top is better than red...don't u agree???

    dscf4481j.jpg

  15. actually i thought your white solid top looks good... why wanna change leh? anyway i think red is totally out... black is better :)

oh cos we changing the gas hob to induction hob...so cannot use back the existing solid top...

  16. y don install yrself? or get yr contractor to fix it up for u? juz drilling of a few holes only..

ya i'm planning to get my contractor to install...i told them i will kiv the installation by them when i checked out...showed salesman the dismayed look when he told me $50, further explained that they will use a device to scan the walls to ensure that water pipes & wires will not be behind before drilling hence $50...

  17. Hi May,

thanks for your answer. Can you give me the "idiots guide to finding HSW"? We are coming to S'pore soon and will try to find it once more. Could you explain which is the closest MRT and we'll try once more? We don't come back too often so aren't too familiar with the "newer" malls and which MRT to use. Thanks for your time (want to make sure I don't send my wife on a wild goose chase again :o )

    Thanks RMG

mrt is Harbourfront...once come out from gantry, follow signboard directing u to Harbourfront Centre...once out of escalator, the shopping mall is Harbourfront Centre le...
