  1. as i mentioned before, there isn't Significant difference. Also depends on the model/brand ma. i also know cannot be no difference at all wat. But if you are the type of person who don't bother much about such differences, then might as well stick to HD Ready ma.
  2. I think Sony would be a better choice. In terms of quality, technology and aftersales service. But Sony could be more $$$ than LG....so, best to work within your budget at the end of the day. Oh i also notice alot of ppl got for Full HD. But HD Ready is sufficient enough for HD broadcast in SG. So considering this would help you cut cause too. Also i compared viewing n both HD Ready and Full HD. I can't seem to find significant difference.....
  3. I used the Ants powder and it killed a whole community of ants. After a few months i think a new batch came, and they seem quite intelligent. They kinda know the Ants powder is poison and when i put the powder in the trail they always use, they avoid the powder. So i bought another Ant killer from SelFix - DIY store. I think it's called Combat. This time, this one worked with the new community of ants. So far no more ants at the moment. It's been a few months now... Worth giving it a try. It comes with adhesive so u can stick it to walls, cabinets or even on the floor.
  4. TYM, i agree with you normal cabinets give more storage space. But i chose suspended bcos, easier to sweep/wash my kitchen, won't wet my cabinets. Also if the floor trap in the kitchen overflow or stuck (once at my mum's place), water was flowing out of the trap and wet the whole cabinet. Had a hard time cleaning and making sure they are dry. So pros & cons with suspended cabinets. Lighting below cabinet is optional. Not necessary to have lightings. We had it just for design purpose bcos our kitchen flooring has stainless steel strips and gives nice effect with lighting shine on it at night. We use it at night light in kitchen especially when we have our parents staying over. Else most of the time never turn it on.
  5. I have 1 at my hse entrance door, 8 PLC downlights on living room ceiling, 2 at dining area, 1 at corridor, 1 at room entrance and 1 in my walk-in wardrobe. Purpose of them is to give different lighting moods/effects. I also have flourescent lights and turn them on only when absolutely necessary for the whole hse to be so bright like when we have guest over or reading. I like the downlights at my living room bcos i have a choice to turn on on 2 in the centre, 4 at the corners or all of them or just 1 at one corner. So depending on the activity, I only turn on wat i need. Usually only 1 or 2 at night when watching TV or listening to music to relax. Dining area I have dining ceiling lights, flourescent and downlights. Also depending on usage, we turn on. I notice this saves alot on electricity as we don't turn all of them on. Also I don't feel warm le. Unless ur false ceiling is really very low but still, i don't think it'll feel so hot to make u perspire. Halogen lights will though.........
  6. I using Rowenta, very long lasting and compact design. But mine is stand fan. No ceiling fan for us due to difficulty in cleaning and if faulty, problem to change a new one. Prefer stand fan as can move around
  7. I installed flourescent tube as well. Lower voltage, easy installation and removal, economical and gives the effect i want.
  8. I think all these stuff abt Ghost is in the mind... if u keep thinking that something is lurking in the corner, then even a slight movement of the curtain due to wind, will make u freak out. it's best to keep these thinkings away from our mind to enjoy a peaceful life ....
  9. Update on my Sofa hunting... After going through all the suggested shops, we decided on Cellini. Reasons : - Comfy - Nice design - Recliner mechanism is well-known USA-made Leggett & Platt - Price reasonable for the quality - Long history and chances of getting cheated very minimum - ISO certified - GST and delivery charges absorbed - Leather kit thrown in as freebie - Friendly and knowledgeable salesperson. When we used technical terms for the leather quality and ask questions, she was able to understand and provide us with the info. Also the characteristics of the leather she described is correct as per our research. E.g. semi-aniline, finished leather etc.. Expected delivery is 24 Oct. Will post pics n update how was the service.
  10. Yep, mine is GST and delivery absorbed by them as well. They also throw in Leather cleaning kit as freebie. Delivery is scheduled for 24th Oct. Will let u guys know ....

  13. So Toon, have u bought your sofa ? from who ? I'm also on sofa hunting. Went to Cellini yday, very comfy n producst seems of good , trustworthy quality. Price is also within our budget range.. We are still looking at others but if you did buy at Cellini, it would be great to have review from you as we can determine on their service and quality..
  14. Thanks TYM for the suggestion. I will check it out this weekend. I current sofa is leather and i bought from Sea Horse for $800: 3 seater n one lounge (L shape). The sales man told me it's genuine leather. I thought it was a good deal. But it's only 2 yrs only now and it's all cracked up and the layers are peeling. We don't have kids at home. From the peel, I can tell that it's definitely not full genuine leather. Got conned by the salesperson... Like some say, you get what you paid for. So this time we increased our budget, really want to research and make sure we are not conned again. I can definitely tell u, it's impossible to get genuine full leather sofa for 1K. If u can get, that must be bycast leather or PU (synthetic leather). U can only get a recliner maybe... that's too nowadays difficult to find one under 1K. We reccee a few shops yesterday. Went to Castilla, full leather 5 seater (4 of them is recliner), high back, inclusive of delivery + gst + leather cleaner kit , was quoted $4200. It was a good deal but it wasn't so soft and comfy to sit it. Also the recliner mechanism isn't so smooth. Checked out Cellini, full leather, 5 seater (4 of them recliner), high back , inclusive of gst+deliver+ leather cleaner kit = $3670. The leather was comfy n soft, recliner mechanism was smooth too. without recliner, cheapest we could find at both places were around $2900+. We gonna check out the rest of the suggested places this weekend. I think my 3K budget also not enough, must top up a big more i think leather easier to maintain, just need to wipe with a plain wet cloth once a week to remove the dust or dust off with feather duster. Once every few months just apply leather kit. Fabric is cheaper but need to really take care from spills, dust can set in, must air the cushion in the sun at least once a month to make sure no smell, was cushion cover... just thinking of the work makes me tired... i don't think i have the time lor...
  15. Thanks so much Xarain. I will drop by this weekend.
  16. My mum and in-law's place didn't have hood. I fixed hood for the hse. Irregardless of how frequent or how heavy is your cooking, here are the Pros and Cons : Pros of having hood : - top layer cabinets not greasy n sticky after cooking. - smell of the food does not spread to living area and the rest of the hse. - if you hang clothes indoors during rainy days in the kitchen, your clothes don't stink of food. - when deep frying, the oil/grime don't splash n the rest of the cooking area doesn't get too oily like area around your hob. Especially the floor doesn't get sticky after cooking. - Ceiling/walls tends to get yellowish and dirt traps bcos of the stickiness after sometime. Need to repaint every 2 -3 yrs to maintain clean ceiling. Cons: - takes up space so can't fully utilize the top area to have cabinets. - Some very beautiful designs/branded models can be very expensive. Usually if you buy hob and hood together, you can get them at a good package. It is a worthy investment. In the long run, you might not have so much time to keep wiping and cleaning your cabinets every time you cook, cost/time/effort to re-paint ceiling/walls, cleaning kitchen flooring since it gets sticky. With SG weather unpredictable and so many stories of litterbugs these days, I usually hang my clothes indoor at the kitchen. It dries easily and also when I cook, the clothes don't stink. Just my 2 cents worth of thoughts........
  17. My ex-neighbour made shelves with sliding door. The doors have art designs so it looks like a deco. This way the door or the handle will not be protruding out. They keep things shoes, slippers. Actually u can keep anything that can fit in that place. Always good to have extra hidden storage places.
  18. Thanks very much everyone for the info. I will checkout Furniture Club on this. Didn't know such fabric sofas existed. I came across Barang Barang and Lorenzo. Some really very comfortable and within our budget. However i'm not sure abt the quality, after-sales service. Anyone bought sofa from these 2 places ? Your reviews ? Which is better in terms of quality and service ? Any complains on these 2 ?
  19. the existing sofa i bought from Sea Horse in Sept 2006. SO far crack n spoil already. At the time when i bought, the salesman told me it's genuine. I have no kids or pet at home. Only me and my hubby. Yet just 2 yrs n it's gone case. I doubt it was genuine leather. when sofa hunting now, i don't know whether i should trust the salesman when he say it's 100 % genuine leather. i was thinking abt the same on Fabric Sofa. I was told it traps dust easily too. the one i saw in IKEA was Tylosand. Covers are removable. But they don't have much fabric choice even though these sofas come with 5 yrs warranty. i actually love leather but after my experience with the current sofa, I don't know if i should risk getting another leather one, only to be spoilt in 2 - 3 yrs. How would i know if the sofa is really leather ? Salesman these days are not so truthful... my budget it around 3K. So if any of u have suggestions for good trustworthy brand, i don't mind checking them out.
  20. I m stuck in a dilemma. Not sure which is better and durable.. Leather or Fabric ? Which is easier to maintain ? What are the Pros and Cons ? What kind of problems you face with your leather or fabric sofa ? What would be your choice if you have to get a sofa ? What do you think of fabric sofas from Ikea ? I would appreciate your input as we can't decide and would like to hear from owners...
  21. I installed the ventilation fan and have been using it for about 3 - 4 months now. Found it quite good, keeps out insects and mosquitos. Also no frosting on my glass and mirrors when i bathe. Cost me $350... a bit expensive but worth it.
  22. Yes babytan, i think lighter colours would look better. Maybe you should look around your house to see the basic colour themes and see if u want to use it in your kitchen too for the glass backsplash. just a suggestion...
  23. Sorry, didn't know some of the pictures are already gone. I will try to capture some and post tonight.
  24. Thanks. It's actually our bomb shelter wall. Painted.
