  1. Hi... is there a sure way to test that the water proofing done by the contractor is OKAY?

What happens if we suspect that there's problem with it (after a few weeks, water marks and sippage outside common bathroom wall)?

Can we get HDB to check? I don't want to kenna from HDB (later say I suka suka gajiao them).

  2. From my experience, with my 1st reno.... every day if possible. Especially when there is any MAJOR action i.e. things that once up if wanna rectify, very tough..those kind.

Are you re-tiling your floor? Has the ID discussed with you how the tiles are to be layed? etc.

  3. Hi peeps,

As Songz had put it, I think I ought to update all on the status of my reno.

Have to give credit when credit is due. :thumbs up:

I have closed the case with my renovator as well as this chapter of my life (wahhh sound so drama ma ma). :bleah:

They have rectified the issues I had pointed out to them. Thanks to the boss who stepped in. :jammin:

Like what TS had said, all these would have been avoided if he had done so earlier.

That being said, must give a thumb up for Dr Sky Tan for being "a man of his words".

    Wishing all ....a smooth-sailing renovation.

NOW, it's time for me to enjoy the fruit of my 'labour'!!

    Cheers~

  4. No idea. But are you gonna DIY?

I consulted the paint shops and most say it is not easy. The skills of the painter has to be there.

Might not be able to get the kind of effect you THINK it should give.

If you are doing it for 1 wall, why don't consider wallpaper instead? JMHO

  5. I got mine from Window Image.

I got 3 quotations from 3 different suppliers - 1 recommended by ID, 1 recommended by relative, 1 recommended by gf.

I chose Window Image (recommended by gf) as their quote was the cheapest and the sincerity & patience of the boss.

    Quality wise, no complaint.

Service wise, no complaint as well! Staff attitude was friendly and timely.

The boss even came personally to monitor the work (I guess he understood what I was going through ...issue with reno company, delay etc.) to ensure everything was in place when I get home. THANK YOU, SAM! :thumbs up:

  6. How I wish I've read your blog much earlier, especially point 4 regarding the protection on the flooring, my current ID is doing exactly as you've described, only protecting the floor with card board (and only for those area they are placing trash, cement, etc, ie. walkway are naked and unprotected!). I found this on the first night when i went for inspection, but it is too late as the damages have been done on the flooring, countless of scratches and I couldn't find a good tile (few days after the area is cleaned) within 430 sqft living hall + dining area tiles...

Struggling for few days and now engaging Tiler Seng to hack and replace the entire flooring, will post more details on this ID as a warning to others after I've received the "compensated payment" from them for such damage. Guess how much (less) they compensate me?

Planning to complain to CASE after that, keep a lot of photos as evidences, couldn't retain the actual evidence as I am rushing to move in very soon...

In my case, my parquet flooring was harmed even though they had placed cardboard on the floor.

I had warned them about it but still things happened.

2 patches on the parquet floor. I asked them to change the strips but they claimed that it is difficult and that they might have to change the entire floor in that room. Kept insisting that it looks fine after polishing.... also kept telling me like making a loss already..blah blah blah.

oh by the way, better check your windows.

mine were chipped during hacking works. sighh... countless mistakes.

though they replaced the windows for me..but think about the time lost for me???

  7. Oooppps that is bad! Must ask them redo it, or touching up and ask for partial refund. Just my 2 cents. I will not accept this kind of defect , it means isn't pro enough. For me I will pursuit to get consumer justice.

phew! At least I know where I stand now.

I've been psycho by them countless time... so much so I have forgotten my rights!

This is the first reno of my life... and I am very inexperienced. I am glad I stumbled upon this thread and turned out it's the same company.

Thank you all for your advices. And thanks to the TS for informing the boss about my case too.

  8. You need to upload your pictures to this website gallery and them chose “my media” to attach your pictures.

Same, they touched up with paints. I already told my ID I can’t accept it. Anyway, a new carpenter is coming to do the touch up job this coming monday for 2days (promised by his manager), i will see how this new carpenter work. Hopefully, they are better. The old carpenter is problematic, their staff even call his boss to come down to see and do himself. My ID said he has many sites to touch up.

What miracle 'touch-up' can they do?

the contractor refused to replace the laminate even after i reject the 'paint over' work.

let me try to see if i can upload my pic...

  9. Bro, THAT'S what happened to my cabinets!!

THAT is the picture I've wanted to upload to the forum (but my office bans us fr accessing those picture sharing sites..so can't, but how come I can see your images?? where did you upload them??)

You know what they did in the end? They touched up with color 'paint'.

You tell me can accept or not???
