  1. Not sure last time Carrier made from where, but it is quiet.

For Panasonic that time i saw the box outside they print made in malaysia.

So for Mitsubishi starmex inverter after you closed the window the operating sound of the outdoor unit will not emit into the room & what you hear only the fan coil sound?

Ya inside bedroom didn't hear anything from outside like no switch on.

Indoor used for quiet mode 19db just feeling the cold air blow out. I cant hear anything for blower or swing motor noise can't imaging the quiet mode and very smooth air.

For low fan speed at 21db it is also no other can compared. Keep cold and quiet whole night.

Event my 2.5hp system 1 also same can't hear any noise from outside, just install on top my window.

Indoor quiet mode at 30dB Just only Set to 26C can be cold until your leg can't stand longer.

but daikin dont have non-inverter model for system 3.

    only mitsubishi have 2 models R410A & R22 non-inverter model.

for outdoor dB i think it is also higher than 50dB. but for internal bedroom still can hear the noisy sound from compressor.

ya panasonic has latest model call econavi inverter.

i will prefer for in mitsubishi starmex inverter model.

it is higher capacity BTU and quietest dB-A 19 only , outdoor at 46dB.

    28VA & 38VA models

it's my house photos for inverter single split units., just installed on top my master bedroom window is without any sound proof.

    DSC_5200.jpg

for GE24VA photo huge size but energy saving at only 0.6kw per hours same like non-inverter 9k BUT single split.

  2. Actually i quite confused lor..... how come previously non-inverter that i use for 5 years not noisy at all? Is it all b'cos of the rotary thingy? Carrier is 2 rotary for non-inverter while Panasonic is single rotary?

Then new invention will become noisy b'cos of that? Thought for more advanced technology will be quiet but it seem like getting poorer.

My main concern is that the outdoor condenser sound will not be emit into the room just like the Carrier one i hv. All this is it mainly due to improper installation or machine problems?

If the 46db all amplifier into our room, then it will be almost the same for panasonic unit whereby they measure our indoor masterbedroom & show as 47db.

So i cannot make another wrong choice if i want to change another brand.

Maybe your previous Carrier compressor is made from original japan,

For now all those compressor already made in china and thailand.

The best choose I prefer to get Mitsubishi electric starmex inverter model can be easy clean.

For indoor supper quiet just only 19db and used 25C.

  3. So do you mean for both non-inverter or inverter Daikin will be quiet as compared to other brands? Pls advise. Thanks!

I cant confirm daikin will be most quiet for brand new yes after due to usage every day switch 8 hrs I think the noisy will be problem again.

To compared non-inverter and inverter more quiet operates cause it is using DC motor compressor and twin rotary. Mitsubishi starmex inverter also very quiet at 46db only for outdoor.

  4. As now Carrier taken over by Toshiba, what do you think of Toshiba non-inverter aircon? Their specs stated twin rotary and if i am not wrong, Carrier previously non-inverter aircon uses twin rotary as well fixed speed for non-inverter.

How abt Daikin, is it better?

Yap daikin is better their using own technology called hermetic sealed swing compressor.

For outdoor fan can be reduce -3 dB for night time.

    So totally very quiet.

  5. What's the difference between 2.5hp & 3.0hp.

And i read the specs for Panasonic non-inverter for compressor it stated as rotary (1 cylinder),rolling piston type and as for Carrier non-inverter is 2/Rotary with fixed speed.

Will all this contribute to more noise etc.

Actually panasonic currently non-inverter compressor all made in china already.

They just used the same previous technology until now never changed.

All those Aircon companys already focus into inverter compressor. If you can get the eco scroll compressor it is the best in markets for most quiet runing operations without any vibration and noisy.

Cause non-inverter compressor still used the AC motor and single rotary type.

  6. thanks. Reason y i getting non-inverter coz i only on 1 split unit everyday. Will take into consideration of an inverter model.

Do you have any recommendation on the supplier that i can get the air con from?

    Thanks.

You are wrong because inverter Aircon can be operates either 1 or 3 units fancoil due to 1 compressor the current input watt just charge you one unit if you just switch on 1 room, for the electricity bill only cost you at half price.

To compressor the non-inverter inside have 2 compressor but it is very noisy and it is cannot be long runs.

For the another compressor didn't switch on for long term it is can be spoil as fast.

So I may not suggest you install non-inverter.

If inverter switch on either one bedroom for whole condenser to keep for runing and energy saving up to 65% to compared non-inverter model.

  7. Dear all,

    season greetings.

I would like to install system 3 non-inveter air con for my 3 rm hdb flat. Is there any good brands of air con and good air con company that provide good service and installation?

    Thanks. :D

i will suggest you get install daikin R22 inverter system 3.

don't think for non-inverter model is good and energy saving.

because why non-inverter why i don't perfer to you to choosing.

it is haevy energy usage and noisy at all times to compared the life of using is shorter to inverter model.

just only speed more $1000 +/- for inverter units you get back by every months in half of your bill.

panasonic inverter system 3 model is cheaper but very cold and quiet operation.

  8. just to share with my experience,

i stay with my mum for a year before i shifted house recently, her 8 years old Carrier aircon was so noisy that i had to stop my brother from using the aircon in his room as i am stay in the Master room where the compressor is installed outside the window. Its like whao whao whao sound everytime the air con is on....imagine i suffered for at least 5 years.... eith that kind of sound.

When i installed the Panasonic inverter system 3 CS-MK27KKWZ at my new house (a resale flat) . This kind noise disappeared even i switch on all 3 indoor unit.... it is surprisingly quiet.....

maybe the installation of your air-con have some issue that generate noise . For me i had got a very reliable air-con specialist to do the installation job.

So far this panny air-con is super quiet and do not disturb my sleep less my neighbour above me always walked like elephant gong gong gong.........

If you need to ask my air-con installer to take a look at your aircon let me know.... u need to ask how much he charge you first hor...

for all those inverter compressor is difference technology can be runing variable speed.

even u set in 25C or lower temperture for the compressor can be follow your setting speed.

condenser fan speed also can be variable +/- 3 dB-A. speed.

to compared non-inverter everything runs in fixed speed.

when operation is longer for compressor will getting hot and have much more vibration in whao whao whao sound.

without reduce compressor speed and condenser fan speed are fixed also.

so you can't near to the fan blower grilles it is heat air same like hair dryer.

not like inverter fan speed is +/-3 dB-A. you can touch to the fan blower grilles it is cold.

so you can imaging why non-inverter will be using heavy energy and noisy because all in runs for fixed speed in same RPM until you switch off your aircon.

non-inverter compressor still using AC type, for inverter are using DC rotary type.

  9. Panasonic came again.

Their specs stated for outdoor unit is 56db & indoor unit is 36/26 for high & low respectively.

And guess what they told us for outdoor unit they will measure fm indoor 1m away fm room window so for our case is 46db so consider normal?

But we don't agreed & feel that they are giving some excuses etc. Then what is the purpose for them to classified outdoor unit sound level & indoor unit sound level?

But even though they paste sound proof insulation surrounding the compressor, the sound still persist? We asked them if it is due to the grille in front of the fan but they say they check

    and it is ok.

because panasonic non-inverter compressor will be have much more vibration to compared others brand.

below i show the photos can be added additional insulation sheet into compressor.

so can be reduce much more noise when compressor are runing.

    P1020723.jpg

    non-inverter model look like.

  10. Sorry I quote here.

Actually water leaking in fancoil unit.

It is also due to contractor installation unproperly.

When the water fall direction it is install at flat without any falling 1 side.

As lease 5mm fall slope to drain dischage connection PVC pipe.

So the water will be runing as smoothly without overall fall when you switch on high fan speed to blow out water.

Or used hose extension up and down fall without install properly to discharge PVC pipe it is will be happening.

Some of is using black color tape to stick in PVC insulation connect to fancoil gas pipe insulation, explode to air it is be happen also when operation long hours you can see at fancoil below have some water drop down.

So I will recommended contractor to used silver color tape.

I share some tips for when installation.

  11. I own a sys 3 inverter air-con.

Can I off my main switch to save electricity when not in use?

Or does it have to be on standby at all times?

10 years ago, I remember my air-con technician telling me to leave it on standby 24/7 to prevent it from malfunction.

    But that was a non-inverter.

    Please advise.

Actually I could not know Aircon have standby mode event indoor or outdoor I can't found, why your so worry of standby mode.

If you found please post your photo to share here, for my system 1 spilt really don't it such thing.

It is not the electronic likes tv or DVD player or hometheater may need standby modes.

    Can your explains why?

    Regards

    Kimsim

  12. Ok will give it a try again.

Btw, do you think i can ask panasonic to give 1-1 exchange for the condensing unit?

B'cos yesterday even after they paste sound proof insulation inside the condensing case covering, the sound still exist. It is like coming out from the compressor itself.

B'cos if the sound problems exist fm the coverings then it will definitely solve it, but it does not.

Can try to write letter or email to the main service center and requested to exchange for outdoor condenser unit.

Because it is still new all of the times to solve and service and didn't solving for you, and very dissppointed for all those panasonic product I won't continous for support anymore.

Just using 3-4 months right now and get the worse product from panasonic.

    Make more complain.

  13. Yes i am also sound sensitive especially sleeping time i need quiet moments. The panasonic fancoil in my MBR sometimes if cut in & out got the p...p...p... like whistling sound. But when i press hard the fancoil cover the sound will be gone. But then it will come back again after a while when the compressor cut in & out.

It is that worse sound pressure level but the panasonic technicians keep saying it is normal?

The fancoil at my common room don't hv that p.p.p. sound when cut in & out.

I had not been sleeping well since day 1 the aircon being installed on 24/08/2010, so already 4 months so you can imagine how stressful.

I got idea can be solve.

Do you have rubber insulation like your Aircon piping insulation it is can be use to stick with double side tape.

So when your gas is cut on fancoil pastic cover connection joint clip not be noisy ppp sound.

It is very useful, when you Is free pls try it out.

  14. The reason why i choose non-inverter is b'cos i only on aircon for masterbedroom at night, the other 2 rooms very rarely & also i use Carrier brand the compressor noise will not amplifier into the room at all.

The carrier compressor sound pressure level is 52db & for panasonic the technician measure the sound pressure level for mine set is 70-75db. And for the indoor unit with medium fan speed is about 46-49db.

The continuous drumming & whinning sound from the compressor are definitely stressful for a good night rest!

I can't imaging for outdoor unit sound dB at 70-75 wow.

Indoor unit for medium speed at 46-49 dB same like outdoor inverter single split unit.

How can be made that worse than The national models.

Like that for all those panasonic non-inverter model is never change compressor from previous models until now.

For me I really have sound sensitive, little bit noisy like fancoil got minor clicking or kor kor noise I will wake up and see what happen, and wait the sound is disappear then I can sleep as well.

Some time will be wake up and open fancoil cover to reputing back to be reduce the noise.

  15. Hmm it doesnt sound too bad from the clip you posted. Did the technicians assure you there was nothing wrong with the condensing unit?

Actually i had rent a room before master room they also install mitsubishi starmex System 3 non-inverter, I hear the noise from outside compressor runing.

All those condenser unit in HDB inside master room got existing opening for Aircon used plywood or cheap board to cover up.

but for my bed frame arrangement is ok didn't face directly or beside to the condenser corner so the noise will be reduce as much.

What I can do for every night when i sleep just switch on, on time for sleep.

Switch on 1 hr before to cooling down 1st.

I tried 3 hrs before to switch on after you may hear the compressor on & off it is getting worse to be accept the noisy vibration sound.

No choose lah for using non-inverter technology is used the very old system until now.

So I told myself for future must be buy inverter Aircon.

  16. Hi kimsim, it's currently using a LG model HS-C126

It's rated at 12,000 BTU which according to the shop it's 1.5 HP.

Guess it may go down to whether this unit uses 12.7mm piping. I noticed some Daikin, Panasonic and Toshiba 2.0 HP units seem to be able to use 12.7mm pipes. Not sure if my assessment is correct though.

Thanks for your help thus far kimsim. Appreciate it:)

ya it is can use with 2hp

cause 1.5hp gas pipe is same with 2hp, all are using 12.7mm Gas pipe.

don't worry anymore still can reused back with R22 gas non-inverter or daikin inverter R22 model,

it is able to use, before install the new unit make sure have to purg the existing gas piping and clean the drain pipe at well.

    have a nice day.

  17. Hi Guys, my subsale unit previously had a 1.5 HP air cond in the living hall. I have since removed the unit and planning to install a new one as part of my renovation. I was looking at potentially obtaining a 2 HP unit instead of a 1.5.

Talking to a few people, they mentioned that potentially this will require modification on the compressor or something as the pipe size for 1.5 and 2 HP are different sizes and that this may potentially void the warranty. Just wondering if anyone here has had a similar experience or performed this type of modification before?

Not sure whether should I just stick back to a 1.5 HP or go for the 2HP. Appreciate your thoughts everyone and thanks in advance :sport-smiley-018:

You can check from coolserve.com.sg they have alot specification to mention the copper pipe size.

I think for all those using R22 gas for the copper pipe is the same size to 2hp.

except latest model R410A inverter 1.5hp gas pipe is same as 1hp.

  18. My Fujitsu was silent many years ago when it was newly installed but after I started turning it on recently, it does have noise, probably coming from the huge blade fan.

I was told that it requires servicing. Is that true? And will that get rid of the noise?

It's more than 10 yrs already.

Can be solve the problem easily.

Can change fan motors or fan bearing.

Depend how you like to pay for service。

  19. Actually not so easy & if they keep insisting there is nothing wrong with unit, they will not change new for us.

Really don't know how to explain to them the stressed i am facing with the irritating sound & they don't seem to undestand.

Ya loh, since it install n used for 3 months already.

But it is new wow for outdoor unit quite tall and big for fan dB also very quite.

Only can resolve is relocated your bed frame don't face the compressor area.

It is will be help you as much.

Because your bad facing now is same as my previous Aircon fir every night.

Can't sleep as well suddenly wake up n hear the noisy.

Can said the vibration until my wall also hear the whining humming sound.

Normal has been used at 5-8 years the problem is same.

So I change to inverter unit, I can said totally sovle no more facing the noisy sound again.
