  1. hi guys, i am about to get my keys this year, and i would like some advise.

my house will be 4 rm, 82 sqm.

is it better to get a system 3+1 or system 4? better in the sense of running and maintenance cost.

will want my living room to be air conditioned as well, will not switch the air con on everyday, probably only during the weekends.

    thanks.

4 bedroom type on that living room not as wide like 5 room type

Can consider for system 4 minimum in 28k BTU unit, can ask the installer switch on current limitation at 8.5Amp, then you can enjoy the maximum cooling as well.

System 3 + single split waste energy at all

  2. Huh? Really starmex not good? My sharp inverters used 15 year and at last spoil, third party service said change compressor not worth and no spare part. They recommended starmex. Now here everyone said is suck.

Now should I call sharp to ask if got spare part? Or change air con ?

Change new for enegy saving, cause if the previous is using R410a gas inverter for your gas pipeline not require to change.

Any brand also have a bad luck or call lemon unit.

Cause in sg has been sold million over units, for sure you guys has purchased a bad unit.

  3. kimsim, thanks for the tip. I just had my aircon cleaning done and technician helped check using tester and said there's power from wiring. He suggested I contact mitsubishi to check since it will be expensive if they do the repair. He mentioned others also have same problem with exactly the same model. I have appointment with mitsubishi already this thursday and will update how it goes.

    Great n wait ur updated.

  4. I just found this thread as my MXY-GE24VA also have no power! Was able to turn it on 1-2 months ago. Just 1.5 yrs old and already spoilt :( Will need to call them up to get quotation.. Their quality control really effective make sure the quality last for only 1 year. Hope FCU in my BR don't breakdown as well.

IF cant turn on with no power at all..

anyway not related to aircon itself, for the power supply wiring can be failed also... anyway my MXY-GE24VA same problem also, after technician come and check for the wiring broken half way, just change the better wires as full brass, settled.

Just changed and turn on like normal.

Like ME much more easy to check on FCU, just open up the front cover and use test pen and check on the wires input located at right hand lower side, brown color must be have light on, IF the blue color wire also had light on, meant the wire already failed.

IF you unknown it thing, later the aircon guy come over and they claims on others expansive parts to be change also.

  5. Floorplan and Challenges http://jumbobnb.wordpress.com/2015/01/20/floorplan-and-challenges/]

As we have learnt a lot and received lots of help from the wonder people in Renotalk Forum, we decided to share our own renovation journey with everyone! Going to start with the customary Floor-plan!

    e764d-52broom2bjumbo2b3rm2bimproved2bx2v

Being an sucker for details and precision, we actually used MS PPT to resize our floorplan to perfect scale and added 2 rulers on the X & Y Axis. Smart right!? These came in real useful when speaking to IDs/floor laminate guys etc.

The few major challenges we faced were:

    1. We wanted to convert the 2 BATHS into attached TOILETS to the master-bedrooms. This would require submissions to HDB and NEA (for the additional toilet bowls and waste piping. This would also mean that we will have the worlds tiniest toilet.

    2. The units are North-South facing: GOOD no afternoon sun, BAD can be rather dark.

    3. Low Ceiling. As this is a very old unit (40+ years), the average ceiling height is only about 245cm. This means (a) ceiling fans can be dangerous and is limited to a few models (b) it makes our house appear even smaller and darker © false ceiling is out. We didnt even consider this as it would make the ceiling height even lower. While L-shaped box was considered, we decided against it because of the theme we chose.

    4. Crooked/slated walls. There are no straight wall/floor/ceiling in the entire house! This means that the piping/trunkings/tiles/wardrobes will all look slanted. When installing fixtures, you have to decide whether to take dressing from wall/ceiling or floor.

We decided to go for a Scan-dustrial look.

Industrial - exposed trunking/pipes as a design feature (due to the lack of false ceilings) + track lights. Instead of a cement screed for the entire living room, we chose cement tiles to avoid possible problems when the cement screed were to crack (a very common problem) and when cleaning the house. An additional perk is we have the excuse not to clean up our house regularly so as to be in line with our theme.

Scandinavian As we prefer a bright house to a dark gloomy one, we needed to augment the industrial look with some Scandinavian characteristics i.e. (a) lots of natural light clear glass windows, (b) some wood and natural material furnishings © light/white colour doors, door frames, windows. As mention in the first post we are also heavily drawn to the Cafe & Hostel look!

Colourful Accents So that Jumbo wouldnt be too dull and white, we deliberately added splashes of colours in the house including my fav birdie chair, iron man, signboards and sofa cushions.

Haha so many things to do, so little time!

The next challenge should be your 2 main doors, how do you wanna solve the door to be dock it outside a door, but internal keep like furniture cover up.

Cause 1 house cannot have 2 main doors in the Feng shui only.

  6. Hi, all today for my over a month moved in my resale flat, is a bout 25 yrs old at bukit gombak.

I was realised you guys/gals have to take noted on main door opening for standard size at 900mm and kitching door around 800mm wide.

After completed my renovation and do a measurement on that door is quite smaller for my electric stuff when loaded in.

My fridge depth is around 750mm but end out open the door then can easily slot in & also my sofa was loading in from the window at corridor side, lucky my house not at the corner unit.

Also my window grills is fixed for non opening one.. No wonder the contract quote me with sliding opening grills, that is what I learnt from.

How bout you guys facing a lot it issue for before never do homework and after bought it is regretted.

    Thanks
