  1. Thanks, Rakieno. So yours is for industrial use? Hihgh chances of humidity? My room is very humid and had bad mould problem before. So am very worried that with only one coat of varnish, the wood will absorb the moisture in the air. Hence, am thinking if I should ask the contractor to do one more coat although I also understand that coats of varnish are supposed to be done hours apart. Mine is done almost for a day. So should I leave it? Thanks!
  2. Hi all, just had repair done to my parquet floor. Understand that some of you have had repair work done in one day so that means one coat of varnish only? Is that enough? Mine had only one coat only as well... : ( Thank you.
  3. Hi Blurcrystal! Just saw your entry. How did you know that your heater was spoilt? I just have a similar problem. My old Pheem heater (water tank) spoilt (it's been at leat 10 year-old) as we bought over the apt with the old heater. We have used it for almost a year when one day, there was no hot water anymore. So we asked a plumber to check and he said the heating element is spoilt so we had to change a new one. We replaced a new Rheem, exactly the same specs. Howver, one week later, water seeped from the false ceiling above and I checked that there was dripping from the overflow pipe. Got the plumber to come several times and finally, they said that it was because the overflow pipe is choked?!. The pipe is concealed into the wall so they suggested having another waterflow 'PVC' tube run to the air pipe (tube). Now that I read that your whole problem is only due to a faulty water heater, I'm wondering if mine is the same as well although mine is a brand new heater and there is hot water when we shower. I'll have to monitor the prblem and see if the new 'pipe' works. I'm just afraid it's some lousy shoddy work and that the plumber didn't want to change a another heater for me. But did you get an explanation why faulty heater will cause this overflowproblem? Thanks!
  4. Hi Dean, Thanks so much for your detailed reply. I also bought Novita dehumidifier and have to turn it on everyday in my MBR. It fills up in about 6 hours so I turn it on before we go to work, empty the container at night and turn it on at night and so on and so forth....just to keep the humudity down and bugs out. So the Nippon easy wash that you bought was anti-fungus or fungus resistant? I bought the fugus-resistant Nippon paint (can't remember which one but I know there is a butterfly on it : ). Only Medi-one is anti-fungus. Am thinking of using this Medi-fresh one for repainting the whole house (maybe next year). I guess everywhere is humid. Kind of upset as I used to live in HDB flats and everything was fine. Of course, things turned mouldy like leather stuff but there was no booklice at all. But now, in condo and have all these issues. Sian too....And I'm still in the east so dont quite understand. I can see that you put in a lot of hard work (sand papared the walls)!! Maybe that's why it's cheap? The workers just paint, don't need to sand paper down the oil paint : ) As for oil sealant, I didn't know it smells like dead rat!!!When I repainted the MBR and toiler, the sealant was pungent, the kind that gives you headache. We had to sleep on mattress in the study for more than a week for the smell to go away before moving back to our MBR. Keep us updated of you Nippon painted apt. I hope the annoying booklice won't turn up at your place : ) Happy Easter!
  5. Wow, just too late for me. Bought lights and fan from Place Lights and now, am reading all these bad experiences from you all They have yet to deliver the lights and fan because my reno is not completed yet. From what I read, I gather that it's better that my own electrician fix the lights since their electrician can be unreliable. But need your advice, do you think I should collect the lights and fan from them personally at the shop or should I ask them to deliver? But the fan is quite big and I drive a small car. Also, I bought a chandelier from them and that's heavy and fragile too...what would you guys suggest? Thanks in advance. It's my first time renovating my apt so a lot of things are new to me.
