  1. Hello all.. The coffee table is almost done! YAY, i can have meals infront of the TV from now on Until hubby takes it away to paint the matt black (to my request) and polish up the wooden top. Remember the barstool we previous bought? I complained about the colour being too pale and this was what he did.. Now there is no turning back.. i cant make it return back to normal. No. HE cant make it return back to its orginal colour.. so he just have to make the other one deep-rich brown (duno what is this colour called) I hope he does up the dining lights soon else we will never be able to have our housewarming. I hope it turns out well with the ceiling grills and industrial lights hanging down. To be updated soon! P.S thank u all so much for all those words of encouragment and support for my hubby's work. His work website will be up soon and he will be able to share with u more featured houses/projects. Although its not really my work but it makes me happy to share every bit of my place with u and tips.tricks to spruce up ur place (if u dont mind unprofessional advice from me hehehehee)
  2. Thanks wtg54! im not so sure about the price, my hubby handles it. I PM u his no, u can ask him about it? I have already msg him but he shld be too busy to reply me.
  3. Hi all, I just won a samsung galaxy tab 2, 10.1 inch, 16GB. Its white in colour. Its brand new, in box, with invoice. RP $698, i'm letting go at $620. Refer to the pic from cnet.com to see how it looks like. Thanks! Please PM me if you are interested!
  4. Geez thanks! I cant even judge the cost by the metal, they all look the same to me.. haha.. i think its a men thing. If u do change ur mind, feel free to let me know. Despite his crazy schedule, im sure he can find the time to find the contact.
  5. Hi Bleucheeze, Yes, It is a charming table! the guys just dont get it. I think door is removable, he fixed it up for me last night, so shld be able to omit the door. I not sure how he 'distress' it, he has a home workroom where he have his tools n stuff. Usually he will work on it when I'm not ard (when he has the time) so i didnt really see what he did. sry abt that. Hello Kooky! my metal gate as in the main-door? He made it for over a thousand bucks.I remember this clearly cos I was shocked about the price. it cost this much becos smthg ard some metal-grade being strong. i dont think ppl will rob us until he change the gate. oh and I dont have the contacts though. U wana ask him direct?
  6. Hi Makanology! I got it from Ikea its i think abt $69. It has tiny wheels to bring ard the house too Thanks for the compliments, i'll be sure to let him know
  7. I did something sneaky yesterday. I bought a little table that i love at first sight. The colour is gorgeous, tiffany-blue and the size is just right for my Mac. was happy-trodding home..and when i reached my abode, i presented this to my hubby....n the look on his face was priceless.. the first words he said to me was "im going to distress it" .. i was of cos.. distress my pristine little blue table wasnt the first thing on my mind when I bought it.. goodness, i feel so unsafe leaving it at home now. I quickly took a picture and claim my stake at the corner of my balcony. here it is. Maybe it doesnt match the theme of the house, but its my little corner isnt it. He is going to make it look like this his office cabinet 3/4 completed. (you can refer to the 'in-progress' picture a post before) well, thats the other updates.. i think the next one would be the coffee table that he is making.. n that will keep his hands off my table for the time being..
  8. your layout looks interesting! and very big! From the floorplan, the store walls are denoted by blacked lines, I think it means structural wall and cannot be hacked. I think you can check this out, if its so, your maid's room have to revise a bit. For lighting, what razzberries said made sense. I think for your maid's room, how about considering a standing fan instead of the ceiling fan. its a cheaper alternative and more flexible in terms of moving it ard.
  9. hey razzberrie! thanks indeed creative and hands on.. (many times he doesnt use the stuff he made so now my place is litered with home items). *lelong lelong* he is on some secret project now and hope its going to be a surprise for a lucky client. I will post up when i have any chance to probe.. hahaha..
  10. Good morning again! I managed to get some pics of the stuff around the house that my hubby have been working on and bought in between my crazy schedule.. Here in this office is work in progress, his work cabinet before (right) and after (left) his itchy hands worked on it to suit our "industial" house. This is another stool, we have 3 altogether. 2 of which are these rusty looking legs, for my coffeebar by the balcony. I think the 'rust' are painted on. There are still quite a number of things to work on before Mr ID is happy so, more to come I guess! P.S Thank you all who is interested in hubby's work! we are really appreciative of the support and that affirms his creative work and the efforts he poured in to treat each and every project, big or small a piece of his art.
  11. Morning Ambung! Thanks! it was indeed a big transformation. it was a pity as the condition of the flat was very good but for our design, we had to do up quite a bit. I hope to share more pics soon of our new stools n such. okok,, enough talking from me, i will PM you my hubby contact now.
  12. Hellooooooo razzberrie!! A big thank you for affirming that dark houses can be cosy too!! I find it very homely although many think darker houses are cold and sad like a mole-home.. hahaha.. my mil says its "orh-lulu" but obviously my hubs and I dont care. I like it when friends come over and they feel so at ease such that they sit/lie on the floor without a second thought. Everything at home is of natural-colours/ textures and maybe thats why it looks cosy. My hubby will be happy to know of your nice compliments.. speaking objectively he is a great space-planner/designer and work efficiently with other ppl's house (but not our own ) one down side to having a ID hubby is the odd things we do to the house. We spent midnight repainting dinning area just becos he thinks the orginal colour is not "feeling good" *roll eyes* well, there is a no of hand-made assortment of furnitures which i will share soon... (one can imagine the messy state of his workplace.) I will PM u his contact and hope he is able to assist you in 2 years time (one year or less before reno, you can start to look for IDs and ideas). P.S One note, i'm not sure if its applicable to you but some ppl opt for hdb not to do their house's toilet/tiles becos they intend to have it renovated their way. So you may like to consider this option
  13. Hi Breezy & MHB, Thanks for dropping by my t-blog. I just Pm-ed you my hubby's contact.. Have a good reno journey!
  14. Hi wen chiang, I like the way commercial kitchen looks so I'm ok. Some friends of mine go crazy at any scratch so depends on what kind you are. Lets say that even if it is not stainless steel, there wont be visible defect right? tabletop can chip off or whatever stains or marks. For me, i like it that it looks sterile, i can soap the top after dirtying it without being afraid of water or grease being trapped at any odd corners, nor it wont turn mouldy or allow algae to grow. Ultimately, if you can weigh down the pros n cons and see where your most important/valued character falls in. BTW, i dont have any hood, cos i find that it trap more dirts n grease then it help remove. My hubby though of a way out to suit my needs so its better to talk to ur ID or whoever planning ur house about design and materials to suit ur lifestyle..
  15. Hihi Rene, Thanks! of course, I just Pm-ed you. Dear Wen Chiang, Jeez, thanks! I like the ease of cleaning. It does get scratches if you drag heavy items along the surface and i feel at some point in time, there will be some. The first scratch was painful! but subsequently, it doesnt matter. Its like those restaurent/cafe kitchen where the scratches are not noticable cos its regarded as part of the top. I hope it helps cos its good to have a kitchen where you will feel happy cooking and Cleaning after! (I pm u my hubby contact too ok!)
  16. Hi all, its been a long time since i updated. Our dining table and sofa came in after cny and it was a mess with furnitures bits and visiting. Hubs and I finally had the time to moved our undone stuff over to where is is intended to be kept so he can do it up withwhatever free time he has. While moving, i saw that this 'unkempt' look makes a nice shot and viola! there it is! The sofa probably wont remain in this nice pristine state for long, the man is going to operate on it to suit the house. I'm begining to wonder if he have a magnetic-pull for custom-made stuff (for everything!) ! I will have the dining area up once the lights are ready (we just re-painted it to a darker colour!). Right now, we have track-lights and a big hole in the false ceiling so i didnt thought of snapping a photo of it. Perhaps I should, just for reference.
  17. ya i remember, i think i visited ur blog few months ago. hobs last for a long time, i dont recall my mum or friends ever changing one unless they move house/renovate their kitchen. I do have an oven. its a combination oven for microwaving, grilling, baking, roasting. I've used all modes and its really good. I told my husband that i dont require one oven, although it really looked good - those electolux kind but i rather have my space for other things. and also becos the kitchen is my territory, i have a say in it hahah.. oh ya BTW, i dont have a hood too.. if u noticed. hehehee.. i find it unnecessary as friends/relatives who cook dont use it at all so no point getting it for the sake of getting. so far, there is no issues with fumes or smoke or smell at all.
  18. hi revox88, Thanks! haha.. just happy to finally have some updates.. yup, ive been cooking quite a fair bit. the hob has been marvelous! the burner is great, i used it for curry, stew and soup while the induction is for stir-fry. the induction brings water to a boil in 2 mins plus super easy to clean up too! r u intending to get one of it too?
  19. Good morning all! Its the week before chinese new year and boy last weekend was a mad rush for us. Hubby is starting to wrap up his last project and that gave him a bit of time to work on our house. It was taking so long to add the finishing touches and i'm just glad the kitchen is almost done. All i need now is some rack for my utensils, my customised painting and black board to be up! My cooking area Perspective form the end of my kitchen: When entering the kitchen (photo in black n white): The other side of the kitchen: And my favourite part - the most useful rail ever!
  20. Good morning Beezewax! (your nick reminds me of burts bee's lip balm!) Thank you for popping by my blog even though its not as technical as other blogs around. My hubby is my ID, he does some works himself like the brickwall and MBR tv feature wall while the other works, carpentry, electrical were done by his team of ppl. I will PM you his contact ok. I cant be around when the works were done thus, not many photos of it being assembled, all those technical terms is quite unfamilar to me too. The brick wall is not hard to maintain as long it doesn’t come in contact with water, its fine. I used a vacuum cleaner to remove my dog's fur that sometimes get trapped there. I'm really happy that you share our concept and of what I call raw/ natural textures and tones. That is made homely and cosy with furnishing. Initially we have all these ideas too, and hub was able to incorporate the essential elements of the ideas into what we have now. For our home, we used close-to-nature colours and textures (woody, bricky, stoney kind) such that different parts of the house is different yet tied by one theme. For the 'minimalist' part, we have our cabinets concealed like my Tv feature wall and show cabinet) such that the whole house looks clean and neat (show u the pictures below). Eventually if we are tired of the look, we can just shift the furnitures around, bring out the coffee bar, paint the brick wall over to say shades of dark grey and viola! New look without much cost – all can DIY. The idea you have, its going to be workable If you have been wanting this kind of home, then why not do it? Share with you one picture I was inspired by.. ( haha.. not trying to tempt you but just stating how I would feel if I'm in your shoes ) Else you will keep thinking how wld it be like if you have a place of your dreams. Recap: The concealed cabinets in kitchen Inspired Digress a bit.. i used the Philip airfryer for the first time. Made chipotle fries and its really easy to use. The fries turned out crispy outside and soft inside. YUMMY! Even my dog cant resist!
  21. Monday isnt so bad when there are updates on new house or should I say, new home. Our custom-made metal gate is up.. ooh its perfect for our home. Photo taken from inside Photo taken from outside And this is how our home looks like with the Christmass tree lights on Realised that there was quite a lot of nitty gritty auntie things to do like cloth-pegs and baskets for cloth-pegs..
  22. Thanks revox88! I didnt see it that way, i was along the line of a "Naked tree for a naked house!" hahahaha.. (oh just realised i had this picture taken too. Little cabinet by the door.)
