  1. Hi there! Morning to you! I'm not sure what lamaminate is this or from which company. I think you can get the ans from my hubby ( I PM u his no ok?) . I just know that he told me its waterproof and told me not to worry about it,feels like wood looks like wood but its not going to spoil like wood. Thats y we got it, cos my dogs sometimes play with ice, spill water and once in a blue moon pee out of her toilet, so I needed one that is water-proof. Technology is really good!
  2. Goooooood morning Sygnur! Thank you.. .yes, the word is S.L.O.W.. sigh.. i wish it can be faster but little bit here little bit there. and I cant help at all except to clean up over the weekend. That little bit done over last week was the painting of MBR. its complete now!! Love the unique colour and its perfect with the skirting! So now, I need to buy hangers and toilet accessories before its 100% move-in-condition. This week, the TV installation and forgot what has been planned.
  3. Good morning! I had enough of cold turkey and had to peek into our house else I cannot concentrate on the coming exams! Dont understand why have to keep taking exams especially when I just joined this new co. urrgh! I was happy to finally see lights up! This means.............. that I can visit it whenever! Not restricted to daytime anymore!! The entrance to the kitchen 1. with lights, 2 we can finally push the fridge in! Half of our living room with lights! MBR (still need quite a big of touch up plus the remaining 50% not done, tv feature wall, basin, vanity area).. sigh. Hubs office, he cannot decide which light to use so he had both. Champion! I hope when he says this is temporary until he decides, he means it! there are more to0 show, the bathroom (and rain shower!!), kitchen, the other side of MBR, the other side of living room where the tv wall is, the sparebedroom and the balcony. For the kitchen, the stainless steel backing is not up, so I wont bother taking it. I will take more and upload soon! Our furniture wont be up so soon.. he is busy customising furnitures for clients (bunny houses/cages!) too so I guess I have to be contented with my empty, lited house.
  4. Its that phase of the renovation where the little items make a big difference. I refer to lightings! Its small and many ppl including me, do not think that it wld make a big impact.. but after meeting hubs and seeing how he works, lighting became an important aspect. Although, i still think that toilet lights, kitchen lights are not as important as say, living room, dinning room lights. haha.. also dont wan to spend so much money if possible! But i heard from him that lights is not only important to the design aspect but also, in the long run, the right light will help u save money, will make u feel comfortable, cos some lights will be very hot after a long time, some lights are too bright and may strain ur eyes. I didnt know that there were so many 'uses' to lights.. I just wanted one that looks good and complete my home and also one that doesnt use so much energy n emmit heat. If use so much energy, i rather not on and then it defeats the purpose of having one in the first place! so ma fan! So i went to search for inspiration and let my ID know the lights i liked.. so he can make for me! whooohoo!! (if he think its ok la, if he dont like the design i also cannot do anything) I think the type of bulbs or wat he will have to decide cos i really duno.. Anyway, here are some inspirations..
  5. Hi stinz!! Nice to hear from you! Yes, I knew about ur meeting only after you guys met. Its ok la, its his job to meet clients after office hours. I wont complaint (he also wont complaint when I go to the shelter and spend time with the dogs! ) Thank you for your compliments, really feels good to hear good things about him here.. haha.. maybe cos no thread on him so super excited. hahaha.. I'm very glad that you like his style. Please do not hesitate to tell him what you want or just give inputs freely. I think its a must to hvae a 2 way communication, after all an ID will be carrying out the entire renovation of the house you will be calling a home. so he finds it vital to know exactly what you want and design it such that it suits u and every member of ur family. Its not 'closing a sale' as many other forumers see it. I cannot wait to see your plans too (when u share here on renotalk, i dont ask him abt his client's hse cos i feel liike not very nice to invade the confidentiality between him n his client), im sure he have somehting very nice in mind.. plus I can assure u of his service from start to end of the project (and even after handover, if need any help, he is most willing to help! I also can help! haha..)
  6. No worries! Always happy to help. else will be very bored at work. I have already mentioned that I gave you his contact. He said he will take note.. hehee As long you know what you like, everything will be planned nicely and proceed smoothly. Thats what an ID is for ma. Ya, next yr will be fun for u, it will be cny then soon a new look for ur house. the first quarter of next ur will be so eventful!Plus ard cny period, always have sale on those electrical appliances/furnitures, sure have some good buys for ur home! As for my house, i do hope to have the rest of the place done up this week. Last week, he and his team was busy working on 3 other houses so our place was on hold. so sian. Last weekend had nothing to do for the house, so tried to shop for washing machine but totally no mood, all look alike to me, if this weekend things are done up then I can go in and clean up!
  7. Wow! Thanks for the affirmation. *glee* Really happy to know that there are more ppl viewing my blog than I expected (thought will be a handful only). Ya, we going through the usual process of work, marriage n buying a home, so he knows how impt to keep within the budget for clients. ( it's gd especially in this line, cos need a good reputation to survive. Many ID n carpenter's bad work attitude give ppl in this line a bad name. His mother can go on n on abt them, as she is a tiler n seen many lousy workmanship/attitude.). Shall cut my story short! Haha.. Old habit of 'talking too much'. If u need any help, queries, feel free to ask me. Im happy to be distracted from work every now and then. I will PM u his contact tmr morning cos Duno how to PM with HP.
  8. Hello hello sygnur! Thank yoooooouuuuuuu! Super happy to see ur post after a uber long day at work. Yes, I'll PM u his contact. I agree His workmanship is good (and I'm not bias ah) cos I hve low threshold for lousy quality. hahaha.. The searching for ideas is the funest part. Dont need to be good at it, just know wat U like n leave the Rest to the ID, cos thats what they r for. After u searched, u can narrow down the theme u wan, any special features u like, eg bag display, open concept masterchef-style kitchen. after that then see which suit ur budget. It shld be a enjoyable process - To sit with ur hubby at a cafe, discuss abt the future home take ur time, plan properly, if u Wana finish after cny shld hv enough time. If before cny or Xmas, hv to decide soon. Not that I'm stressing u, but its known that oct - jan r usually the busiest period for IDs n carpenters. Those getting keys in oct/nov already booked their ID, materials n even bought some of their electrical appliances..Sometimes, laminate can run out of stock n that will screw up ur design n Reno process. Ah shucks, there I go again, blabbing on n on! Hope u have a fun Reno! I will look forward to ur Reno journey
  9. Thank you Getzski! The purple wall separates hubby's office n mbr. It was part of storeroom but we hacked away to open up so the original mbr n room 1 was connected. Now room 1 n part of original mbr is the current mbr, the remaining original mbr is his office. Ehhh.. Am I making sense? Think gt a floorplan in page 1.. ( sry, can't paste image using phone)
  10. My wardrobe is well, 90% done. There was some damange to one of the drawers so the carpenters will be changing it. I think it fell off n chipped or something during transportation. The room has been neglected .. haha.. focused too much on the living room and also I'm still deciding what to do to the bed room.. platform or not, what kind of feature wall to do (we have a few ideas and really wish I can do them all!) SO as you can see here, hubs built me bag displays area (are they called shelves? no right?) with wardrobe space extending all the way to the wash basin. Thats where I will have to do up nicely myself to put my hair stuff, skincare, cosmetics. There will be a compartment for my long dresses (maxi dresses and evening dresses, there will an area for 2 tier clothes hanging for short dresses and shirts. there rest are compartments specially for tee shirts or garments that is not easily crumpled. This way, space is used more efficiently. This inside is very nicely done and its unfortunate that I dont have any pictures of it. The purple is the base paint so that is not done yet, this as well as the flooring will be later. we going to touch up later once we decided on the feature wall.
  11. Thanks revox88! How was your reno process like? Sorry, i dont know if you have a t-blog, i didnt have time browse. To fellow forumers, I was not able to answer some of the PMs yesyerday but please be patient.. will do so immediately (right now i only have lunch hour to browse them and I'll be working late these 3 days so... will try my best!)
  12. Moniji, Thanks for the compliment! You can contact my hubby if you wish to have carpentry works done as I do not have their contact. As for prices....... hmmmm... i also dont know how much.. LOL Hubby is handling all the reno works. I just wait for it to finish and do QC. revox88, Hello hello.. yes, we have this design as it will make our house more open (also good for my dogs to play ball and run about)especially with all his specially designed concealed storage system. He is very good with all these, so when he came out with ideas, i choose the one that i like best. You know what, the open concept is a very good design, some clients specially pointed out that they wan these and when I saw it, it works very well. As a function idea as well as a decorative idea. Regarding the cost (not sure if it cost a bomb) to me its free .. but to frens that he did design for, its very reasonable considering the quality (as with everything, there are cheaper things, and there are more expensive ones.) As a tip for everyone who is doing or going to do renovation soon. Its always good to gauge if the price is reasonable with respect to the quantity, quality, service, trustworthiness. most people look at the items and compare only quantity/the amount of work done, but many do not realise that things that are not on the quotation are equally impt eg the last 3 traits that i mentions. I believe some ppl in renotalk have experience with ID or contractors who did a bad job or ran away or give shoddy work or things like that.. aiya, but thats my opinion, not everyone sees the same way as me.. all in all, as long the reno process is a happy one can already. right. I shall stop here before the caffine makes me type on and on and on!
  13. Getzski, Same here! Im going to have lift upgrading n duno wat else, thats why we cant make the coffee bar at the balcony as yet. There will be another door opening at the balcony so we left the wall there painted otherwise untouch. YAY to upgrading! Lauer, Thanks for the faith! Maybe that the 'surprise' he planned for me! Will definitely update here the very moment i know what it is about! Stinz, Thanks! u can do concealed storage too! I like this way cos neater n dont have to dump everything in store. Some ppl do platform, which i may consider for bedroom!
  14. Good morning everyone! I just dropped by my place this morning before i head off to work and it was a nice surprise! This is how my 'tv wall' is going to look like. The doors are huge! and very well done once again. Glad to have such good team of carpenters working on this. Next ,Once the effect is done, it will look like raw concrete wall with built in/flush (correct term?) 60" TV! YAY! I'm going to appreciate the storage so much more now that I know much mush effort took to do this. The weight, height, dimensions, all have to be carefully thought out and calculated to balance the loading avoid the damaging of hinges. Because if its not calculated properly, and spoils after a while, the carpenters are not going to be responsible for this. And more importantly, if it drops off or somehing, it may hurt anyone (human or dogs) near it. The stainless steel kitchen top is to be measured today and hope it can be up so the sink and the hob can be installed! Hubs cant do much today as well, once again, Mr Busy is having a 16 hour work day. Anyway, I dropped him a msg, asking him if he knew this forum and he knows! *surprised* I thought he didnt have time! And when i wanted to use this to make him guilty abt the furniture designs, he had to cut in and say there are ppl who got his contact from renotalk, thru me somemore, thats how he knew. Wah lau.. luckily he interrupted me, if not sure embarrassed big time! hahahaha.. *grin*
  15. Lauer, Hello! Thanks for the compliment! You into reno? The way you observe seems like a professional arty person. Getzski, ya, mine is 30 yrs old so definitely cannot be neighbours. mine is in Hougang. Our first choice cos of the layout. we were looking at tampinese n pasir ris cos they have really nice layout and hubby had plans to do it up in a different way. Just too bad, despite the crazy high cov, ppl snapped it up before we had the time to consider! So your reno was already done up? Initial phase means wat? you still have on going parts to do? We prob have to split it up in phases too. Once reno is completed, and when hubs is done with all this other clients house that is on going, he will design the furnitures. I guess, we will be furnitureless for a short while. My xmas wish this yr is to have a complete house.. too bad he dont have renotalk acct and i suspect he dont even know wat a renotalk is, if he knows, he definitely doesnt know im here blogging...cos he dont have the time, if he have the time, means he have to start designing the furnitures.. and .. i dont have any furniture.. sooo...
  16. Heya getzski thank u thank u for enjoying our hse Reno process! Such a coincidence that u have same floor plan, could we possibly be neighbours?? My neighbour next column of the blk (cos door to door unit) just completed their Reno a mth ago. This layout is good cos the view is on the balcony side, backside is nothing but carpark. So hows ur reno coming along? Do share with Us ur Reno process k!
  17. Hiya jgal! Thank uuu! Yeah, we love this look too. Hubs designed it and he had so many ideas. I choose this in the end Cos just nice that we have a lot of natural light so even with dark wooden flooring, it's not too gloomy. Plus this laminate is waterproof n doesn't get scratched (good for my dogs). Our kitchen will also be black n stainless steel look, but floor is light raw grey. Ya, when u rent, really don't Need to do so nice. Basic can already cos I heard from my agent Fren that tendents don't really take care of the hse (unless u r lucky to get one who does). Maybe u can do this at the place u stay in. V nice to come hm to a hm u like n filled with all ur love ones!
  18. May_dream, yes, its our storage area.. We hacked away the storeroom so we did more shelves. He designed it this way as it is more efficient. He knows i Hate digging out for things in the store. I will grumble so much whenever i have to shift a whole load of items just to get somehting out.. This way, i know where everything is and there is more cumbersome searching. Actually cannot really see it properly in the photos.. i think when its done up, will give u a better idea..
  19. Thanks Casa! More updates.. its monday morning and I cant find any motivation to do anything.. cant eat, cant work, cant walk to the printer.. ALl i can do is to think of my house and when to move in! *bleah* So.. managed to get the SD card working again.. Thank you card for your kind cooperation Here is my "Tv wall".. errrmmm.. is this what you call it? I ask hubs but he say since its easier for me to refer it to "TV wall" then "TV wall" it shall be.. Feels like he is patronising me I'm inspecting it to see if it pass my high standard.. its a bit dusty but otherwise worksmanship looks good! So obvioiusly the doors are not up yet.. here are the giant doors to be up. Its gg to be designed like the 'concrete slabs' as shown further below.. I dont how its gg to be done but he has got to work his magic! whoops.. last min meeting! got to drag myself to the meeting room.. hope you guys like what you see here..
  20. Finally its the weekend, I woke up bright and early today (at 9.30am) to head over to our new house. My parents were so exicted to see it too. The last time they came was pre-reno and I bet they are in for a surprise. Hubs will meet us there to ans any queries my parents have. Eg, where to store the luggages, where to keep all her shoes (at the same time will ask him to ask him to throw my shoes away cos I dont need so many for just one pair of feet). *sigh, parents*. When we walked in, the brick has set and the colour is nicer then i remembered it to be! Dad very happy! Mum says house look warm and cosy BUT (always have a but behind one! ) duno will be too dark when cloudy or not, duno too bright if too sunny.. i wana I will remember to put binds up before they next come over! Pls remind me! so here are some pictures.. My shoe cabinet! I think this one just nice to keep my shoes.. I like the texture and colour.. feel so homely. This one extended into the kitchen as one. The fridge is to be pushed back into once the electrical and wall panel is done. Of cos not going to look like this *faint* when opened up! I like the way hubs hide the ugly box. The storage space extending into the kitchen. Its to store my pans. The pull out thing is for me to puy my combination microwave oven and rice cooker. ALl the drawers and doors have the anti-slam thingy. Soo... i can kick it close n no one will know!! The stainless steel kitchen top is not done yet. Once done I can put my lovely hob over. oh yes, and the sink in, then more or less the kitchen will be done. Have to shop for the washing machine later!
  21. Hahahhaha.. May_dream, u r very cute la! ! Hello Jerryhandra, I agree with may_dream. My contractor is the best! Heheheehaha.. Ok ok, ill be objective. I shall analyze below. As a wife, I think his design is fabulous, he considers what I need and want and do it by working it within our budget. However I feel his work is slightly slower as he gives priority to all his 4 clients' project. He will work on ours only after his is done with them. Eg electrician to work on their hses, once done, they can then come over to work on ours. As a client, I wld feel that his design is refreshing and e listens, he wld incorporate Your needs, wants and lifestyle into design and space planning (they r 2 diff things). He keeps within budget, spend alot of time at ur site daily to make sure everyting is in place (and can give updates very frequently). So I highly recommend him to u (since u r not his wife, u won't have any issues at all!) plus i always make sure he does a good job else i lose face! haha.. But seriously, if Need his contact, PM me ok! His website is under construction, will be into in 2 mths
  22. Hubby has almost completed the brickwall after tolling away bits of his free time.. (Grout lines need to be done at a later stage). The result is very lovely Having an eye for detail, he place the sockets/switch thingy nicely that fits the length of a brick. The colour tone and texture is turning out very well! The carpentry team just assembled the cabinets in the living room, kitchen as well as masterbed room within half a day! Im impressed with their efficiency.. first half was to carry all the cabinets up. the amount parts was crazy!. good to have updates from hubby every 30mins! hahahah.. i think i annony max! The doors are not up so it looks very messy. I will post more pictures when its completed.
  23. Hougang is a nice place! with more childcare coming up, lift upgrading, some facelift here n there! Even the old ppl look so happy. Besides, the flats here, even for a 4room is quite big as compared to the new 4 rooms.
  24. Hahahahaha.. casa! Am I that predictable? I would totally say that if you havent said it for me! Yes! Next up, brickwall and/or carpentry!
