  1. Hi Kewlboi, Thanks for your reply too. Yeah, I also bought some reno magazines for my references including SQUARE ROOM. I have read most of the T-reno blogs here and I noticed that some can go through smoothly even small hiccups which those mistakes can be pardonable but some really met the wrong ID / Contractor which gave them a lot of headache. I guess I will shortlist those being highly recommended here but I wont be like shortlisting up to 10 IDs. Maybe up to 5 and compare the market price. I will post up here once I meet them. Currently, my husband and mine schedule quite tight. Cheers:) Emobebe
  2. Oic. You have mentioned that your reno cost ard 50 to 52k yet you have to come out with your design. I think a bit expensive. Maybe you are using best quality type of material then different story. Maybe you wanna share your floor plan here and your design layout. My husband and me still battling over where to put sofa. The main issue is that the main door neither here and there. I will put up my floor plan here once I fix up my scanner. My scanner seems don't want to work recently. LOL... cheers:) EmoBebe
  3. Hi Mr Nice Guy, Do you have Reno T-blog? Maybe you can post your journey there and your place's photos? May I know which contractor ID you used last time and now is which ID? I still looking around and haven't really approaching any ID companies yet because I think I haven't make a final decision what theme I want. My husband has a very different views from me. So, we want to solve this before approaching anyone. Give them less issue...lol Emobebe
  4. Aiyo I forgot to ask you something. Will you start your own blog here about your home renovation. Maybe can show us your floor plan and how you design your layout. I will start later after I find the right ID first. By the way, what tiles you use for flooring and how much does it cost per pc? And how big is the pc? EmoBebe
  5. Wow! So many people live with you or you got many kids!!!! LOL!!! Anyway, you get which ID to do your home and what his/her name? I read a lot of postings here recently...headache...Just come across on one article mentioned that he went to 10 IDs!!!! I m not gonna do that...cos it will burnt me out!!! The most I will look for 5 IDs only and will be based on the recommendation here. If someone can allowed me to visit their home even better so that I can see the workmanship with my eyes. I would appreciate for that !! Renovation really a big project to me but I feel excited at the same time because I can do whichever theme I want. Hopefully I will be able to meet the right ID to do my home soon! Cheers:) EmoBebe
  6. Hi May, I just read your Reno T-Blog. Hmm, I think I should do a blog on my reno journey too. Thanks for sharing and being helpful here. Mine floor space is about 104sqm...very small for two persons... Emobebe
  7. Hi Kewlboi, Thanks for sharing. I just read your blog. I haven't get my dates yet for first and second appointments. I am just looking around now...maybe I am a bit stress up and "kan chiong" cos this seems like a major project to me. LOL.... My main focus is to done up the Living room (TV Console, Half height bookshelves and Shoe Rack), Kitchen (Full height white cabinets maybe with solid black top) and MBR (Custom made wardrobe with a simple study area but i dunno whether can fit in.....just an idea). By the way, how much your black galaxy granite top cost? By the way, I will be using back the existing Hob, Hood, Oven and Airconds because all still new. So, I guess I can save a bit on this area. 8. Hi May, Thanks for sharing. Can you show me your floor plan and briefly describe what are the things you do your new home? Have your contractor started work on your unit and how is the progress so far? Hi J|ing, I am allocating about 30k to do the renovation. Not so much of fund for this reno. A bit tight budget. That why I am here to explore the best deals and who should I award the job to. LOL! By the way, I am not doing the both toilets because this unit is under Home Improvement Program. So, I have to pay certain amount for the upgrading. Since the HDB will be upgrading the toilets, change the dustbin chute and wrought iron gate. I will leave it alone till later when I want to reno again. For the time being, I am still negotiating with HDB Officer whether can re-choose the colour of the tiles and wrought iron gates pattern because the previous owner already made their choices but it is not what i want in order to complement the whole unit theme. 9. Haha, almost the same idea but my main door a bit weird position. I may do a wall partition in between the main door to put my TV console because I need a wall behind my sofa and the main door position is neither at one corner. It is a bit to the centre. However, my kitchen I am planning to put solid black top and the rest cabinets are white glossy plus metal sink. The kitchen tiles I am thinking to use matt homogenous gray tiles - those anti slip type. Do you intend to put slunt a bit your flooring to the floor trap? I rekki at IMM ytd. One of the ID said they will put same level. Nowadays, no one wanna wash floor but they rather wanna mop floor only. But still kitchen it is best to wash once a while esp for spring cleaning even if you seldom cook. The slunting of flooring is upon request only else they will do same level. I am wondering how much will it cost for my whole unit renovation because I prefer something minimum, easy to take care of and not bulky but yet got characteristic. A bit chim though. So far, no one give me the best ideas yet but I think I found one practical and honest ID. He gave me a lot of ideas and what to consider. I haven't receive his quotation yet. Cost is a concern to me though. Have you get any quotation yet? Which company you hire? Any particular budget? EmoBebe
  10. Hi, I just came across your topic here about fengshui for 2nd floor. Recently, I just exercised an option on a unit which is at 2nd floor. Let me describe a bit about this place. This unit is above pump room so means that there is no void deck or hollow kind of things. It is a Door to Door unit where a new upgrading lift just built which cater to these two units. Main Door facing South West and windows **** room facing North West and shade a bit by some palm trees. The opposite neighbour is a Chinese couple with a toddler. The reason why I choose that particular unit is because I feel comfortable when i first entered to the house. I noticed that the couple who are selling to us have a good professions. One is a teacher and the other one is a policeman. They have four children, quite productive in a sense. The reason why they want to sell because not enough room for the growing up kids. My consideration points when I want to buy this unit are as follows: 1) FengShui Direction - My husband and me have a kua number of 8. So our best directions are SW, NW, W and NE and we manage to find those directions inside the house either for the main door, sleeping or eating positions. And our kitchen is at SE area which our weakest direction. 2) Location - I would say strategic. Near to Saint Hilda school, park, amenities and stadium. This stadium will be demolished and build new mega mall which will be completed in 2015. Ten mins walk to MRT and Interchange. 3) Price - Average but we have budget for this. 4) Reason for selling - I know it is a bit hard to ask the seller this question sometimes but this family really honest and I think it is acceptable because the couple got four growing up kids. They need bigger space. 5) Others - Background of the family considered financial stable, harmony and honest. (No one sick, no separation / divorce, no loanshark, no one paralyse inside the unit etc) To be honest, I don't know whether 2nd floor is bad fengshui or not but one thing has been highlighted to me by one of my Master FengShui was we can't really rely on feng shui only. Everyone has their "Yi Ming", "Er Yun" and "San Feng Shui" means first is your fate, second is your luck and third is your fengshui. The fengshui is help you to ensure smoothness of your journey from my understanding. To believe or not to believe is up to individual. EmoBebe
