  1. Hi, is the PH5 lamp bright enough for your rectangular dining table w/o your cove lights on? We got ourself a PH5 for our dining area too but am a little worried that it will not light up the area much as that is the only light we have in our dining area.
  2. Thanks Lannywin! Just one more question, do you have a rectangular dining table? Is the light bright enough for your dining area?
  3. Hi, we customised it w Dian Sanctuary for $2600. U can bring ur own design for them to do aso. Example, u saw something u really like on mag, bring the picture to show them. They will advice u if it is doable n the cost.
  4. Hi Nexer, It cost us $45 n $85 respectively.
  5. This is the one of the large items we had to purchase for our new home. A SOFA!! We knew from the start that we wanted a fabric L-shaped sofa... and the choice of colour, GREY! But after visiting so many furniture shops advertised on the papers, we ventured from fabric to leather to fabric to leather to... well... you get the point... we just couldn't make up our mind which material to use after listening to the pros and cons. Anyways, we travelled from the east to the west, to the central of Singapore, and finally found this awesome place to customise our dream sofa. The end product will look like this without the side ottoman ( Left ) ... but in this colour... "What is so special about our sofa?", you may asked. "Looks the same to me.", you may say. Well, first and foremost, the grey is in the perfect shade which I really love. All the greys I have seen did not please me as much as this one. Secondly, I do not like the arm of the sofa to be thicker than how this one looks (found out that this arm is 7"). Thirdly, the height and the feel of sitting on this sofa is really right! So, yes, we can finally close the chapter on sofa! Yeah!
  6. Thanks Lannywin! I went to LF+C and got mine yesterday. The price listed was close to $400 inclusive of GST... I asked if a discount could be given and the price came back to 290++, exclusive GST. Inclusive would be $315... I bargained to $300 and bought the grey set to suit my home theme. Hope I didn't kena chop carrot head. hehehe
  7. Our main renoworks were completed a few weeks ago and the last thing to do is to purchase our lightings, sofa and dining table. We have been doing the legwork over a few weekends to various points in Singapore, mainly Balestier, to see lightings. We finally made our purchases in 3 different shops and soon, these lights will be hanging in my home! DINING AREA :- Grey PH5 Replica [ In the middle ] This is the very first light you will see the moment the main door is opened. LIVING AREA :- MIL suggested this light to soften things up in our living area. This definately does the job! MBR + STUDY :- Simple Round Light We were first shown the pendent version of this light. Both of us liked it alot and was introduced the ceiling version. Decided to go along with the ceiling version for our MBR & Study. KITCHEN SINK COUNTER :- LED Down Light x 2 [ Extreme Right ] We had a lot of problem looking for a suitable LED light as our false ceiling is not so thick. Am so glad we finally found something suitable! SERVICE YARD :- 2ft LED Tube [ 2nd from Right ] We realised that the position of the light's wiring is very close to the wall. Hence, we decided to get something longish to fit in that position. Hopefully 2ft is bright enough to cover the whole area.
  8. I read about how the light distributes too... but may not spend so much to get real product. Wonder if the replicas are made that way too. Any idea how much is Logan's or F+C selling? I saw a similar one at Lighting Centre, in the colour which suits my theme!
  9. Love your PH5!! Am thinking of getting one for my dining area. Problem is the false ceiling there is a little low... so am not sure if I can hang a pendant light there. Sigh.
  10. Hi, it's not a silly question. I think u were referring to the beams on the ceiling. After we enter from the front door, we will see the dining table (if we have one) with the sink counter on its left. But if we don't, then we can just walk straight to the living room directly.
  11. Hi Angie, ours is a new flat. We didn't hack any walls to do the pocket doors for the toilets. The doors are built outside the toilet. My contractor did a "skeleton" outside the toilets. Perhaps the picture below will be clearer as to how the doors are installed.
  12. Thank you all for your positive comments! This is the overview of how our home design is like. The detailed plans are in A3 hard copied format so it will be difficult to share. Our wardrobe cum storage area extends out from our kitchen sink counter, forming a L-shape, which in the centre between the bedrooms, bomb shelter and toilets. We only have 1 false ceiling, above the sink counter and stretches across to demarcate our dining area.
  13. As we all know, shoes, handbags and clothes are a woman's best friend. When the design plan was revealed to us, I was wondering where my or rather our shoes are to be placed as it was no where to be found on the plan. We were open to using part of the bomb shelter to store our shoes but I am concerned that we will bring in alot of sand into the house, which will make cleaning worst for me. Upon request, his uncle designed the following shoe cabinet, which was to be placed next to our main door and thought of a clever way to ensure our main door can open to its max. SHOE CABINET As you can see, our shoe cabinet is a moveable one. There are hinges to attach the shoe cabinet onto the wall next to it so that when we need to move big items into our home, our main door can still be opened to its max!
  14. Hi theitsybits, we did not engage an ID. We have an architect in the house, he is the man behind the design. In fact, we didn't even tell him the specifications of what we wanted except that I want a open concept kitchen like his. We just leave him to do his thing. Really love how it turned out.
  15. Hi momiji, our parquet is Indonesia Teak Timber. Our contractor was the one who bought it and laid it. We spent $5800 for a total area of 615 sq ft. Not sure how much per sq ft as labour cost was inclusive. Will PM u his contact.
  16. Today's feature will be on our long wardrobe cum storage space. What we really like about it is that there are configurations of all kinds within that one row, catered for things of different purposes, from CDs / DVDs to kitchenware to books to clothes. Initially, there was even some spaces to hang my bags, one for each side of the wardrobe. But after thinking through, I decided not have it as I do not have that many leather handbags to display. In fact, I don't think I even own one! With that amount of space available. we are not worried that we do not have enough space for storage. As a matter of fact, we have ALOT of room for storage, not to mention that we still have a bomb shelter area to play with. Some parts, especially for the wardrobes, are made accessible from both sides. That reminds me of the wardrobe that Susan and Edmund walked into in the movie 'Chronicles Of Narnia'. that show! Our 3-month-old can play 'hide-and-seek' with us in the future when she starts to walk. WARDROBE CONFIGURATION
  17. Since adidaem mentioned about our pocket doors, let me talk a little about them. The inital plan was to have pocket doors between the MBR and baby's room, the MBR toilet and the study room. That would be 3 pocket doors altogether. "What about the common toilet?", you might ask. Well, we had wanted to paint the door of the common toilet white to match with the rest of the flushed exterior. However, we had a change of heart after seeing the pocket door on our MBR toilet. After a discussion that went on for about 3 days, we decided to change the common toilet door to a pocket door for the complete look and to maximise the space within the toilet itself. The door provided by HDB is too big!! Thus, we ended up with 4 pocket doors and $1k+ poorer. Here's a little preview of our doors. ~ Top left :- Pocket door that is between our MBR and baby's room. ~ Bottom left :- Toilet ~ Right :- Study Room
  18. Hi Helen, thanks for your comment! I can share my contractor contact with you. I am not sure what kind of price is cheap but with the amount of work done, we find it quite reasonable. Workmanship is average but I must say that my contractor is a nice, obliging and humble man. So far so good... not much problems to rectify.
  19. As mentioned in some posts back, our home design is something radical. Instead of the usual galley kitchen, ours is a L-shaped open concept kitchen, with the sink counter parallel to the bomb shelter wall where the dining area was originally suppose to be. KITCHEN Our wardrobe and storage cabinets are built in a row outside of the bedrooms, parallel to the bomb shelter and two toilets. It will also act as the "wall" for the two main bedrooms i.e. MBR & Baby's room and the divider between the two walkways. WARDROBE & STORAGE CABINET Even though the bedroom spaces became smaller, especially for the bedroom nearest to the living area, we love the amount of storage spaces we now own.
  20. Am also interested to get the invisble grill but am not sure how to clean the window panes after it is installed. Is it installed inside or outside of the house? How do you intend to wipe the window panes? Pls advice. TIA!
  21. After the hacking of the kitchen and bedroom walls, the next step is to do tiling and cement screed so that our parquet can be laid. As ours is a new flat, we managed to get the cement screed to be done FOC. That saves us some $$ to channel it elsewhere into the reno. Am very glad that the HDB contractor did a good job and thanks to our contractor for overseeing the process. With the cement screed done, our parquet are also laid. As you can see from the picture above, the tiled flooring and the parquet flooring now formed two passageways to the toilets and the bedrooms. Reminds me of the exodus... where Moses parted the Red Sea so that the Israelites could escape from the Pharaoh.
  22. It is currently similar to the study on the top left. However, for our new place, we did not do up the study room. We are still discussing if we want to build in or not.
  23. The design layout of our new place was revealed shortly after I started this T-blog. It was something radical and not what we usually see from the IDs. Love the plan! Can't wait to see the actual "product"! On 27 March 2012, our reno works officially started and here are some pictures of the "work-in-process" for our kitchen and bedrooms. L-shaped Open Concept Kitchen Some of our built-in appliances for our kitchen :: Ariston + Blanco Metra 9 Sink Bedrooms In place of the bedroom walls, something will be built. Wanna make a guess what it is? Stay tune to the next post!
  24. HI, nice place you have! my new place is also mainly white. Just wanna find out how do you maintain it? Pls advice... thanks in adv!
