  1. Ya I just gotten my mattress, and already caused $2+ k damage. We tried to look at branded vs. non branded and there's really difference. We are both particular about quality of sleep...so mattress quality can't compromise.... It's sealy, very comfy and cushy. Just say to ourselves it's "happy money" Realize me and hubby can be quite choosy and particular about quality. Looks like 9K will be a tough journey for us...10K possible??
  2. Hi I am quite new to Renotalk here, I am currently needing to buy some new pieces of furnitures for my home and just wondering what is consider the usual spending on furnitures nowadays, been to so many furniture shops and wide range of designs and quality, we want something that's simple function and yet, good material and durable that will last. This is our wish list: - office chairs x2 - Sofa 3 seater, and 2 couches - Coffee table x1 - Dining table x1 and chairs enough for 6 people - Outdoor furniture table x1 and chairs x2. - TV console cabinet x1 - Bed mattress x1 (king) - Bunker bed + single mattress x1 - Sofa bed for guest x1 What will be the rough cost estimate? I am hoping to spend no more than 9k for all these items - can I expect good quality and reasonably nice furniture with this price? Thanks for all your input! :sport-smiley-004: :sport-smiley-004:
  3. I am going overseas and will be intending to buy some bathroom towel racks and hooks (because cheaper and more design varieties), and hoping to look for a contractor who can do a good job and charge good rates for installation. Anyone know of any contacts and can offer some advice? Any advice will be helpful, thanks!
  4. I am moving into my new flat and I want to get some of those old floor drains / traps changed by some professional plumber. Anyone know of any good contacts who can provide the changing service? Thanks
  5. I am also looking at Ikea sofa as well, the designs look quite nice, and the good thing about them is that their covers can be changed and washed. I am eying the Kivik series which is <1000 (as compared to similar design from another branded store that costs approx. 3000). I heard that ikea furnitures have lots of problems with their quality - esp. tables and shelves. But I read up from forums (mostly overseas), sofas are quite exceptional because they can last for years. I am not sure about Singapore tho. Then again, I also wonder if I were to buy more expensive sofas whether they will last as long as well - especially leather - which I certainly won't have time to maintain it.
  6. I am hoping to install some window & balcony grilles in our apartment for safety, but also want them to look aesthetically pleasing as well. I find a lot of iron grilles look a bit old fashioned - alternatives will be invisible grilles, or wooden grilles with lattice / design patterns that can open / close and look good at the same time as well. Any one have any recommendations? However I am a bit worried whether wooden grilles won't last long in harsh / humid outdoors. Thanks for sharing
  7. Hi thinking of buying a washing machine Nowadays have those 2 + 1 washer / dryer, or separate. Just thinking has any one used the 2 + 1, experiences, pros & cons. It's quite temptiing cos it can surely save a lot of space. Thank you
  8. Hi all, I am new here and pretty excited about our new home. At present engaging some ID people to do up our new home, I realise usual price nowadays is about 3 - 5 K - it seems to have gone up significantly. Here is what they quoted us, do you think is reasonable? - False ceiling, wall paper, timber decking for balcony (x2 big balcony in the living area) PLUS - main gate, bay window surface, large entrance cabinet and store (we don't have store room in our unit) = 12800 - Master bed room: bed backing, storage cabinet, wardrobe, drawers, false ceiling, wall cover, and storage bed + platform Japanese concept = 8600 - Study: Table for 3 persons with drawers, file cabinets, suspended file storage, light compartment = 5200 - Long TV feature wall with storage / displays / electrical compartments / drawers / wiring & socket point = 4500 - Other bedrooms x2 = solid window deck 1360 - Others: lighting points, SPN, sockets, SCV, telephone, door bell, light fitting 2800 - Others: painting the house including rooms, kitchen, bathroom, ENV control, sight setting, cleaning, protection of flooring, general cleaning 3400 Total approx 38K (We initially thought our budget would be 35K) Do you think the items are reasonable, and what items there are not really that essential or good idea for ID? Thank you very much
