  1. Hi, my hse is undergoing reno now but we have one big problem. my hubby and I are going for the industrial loft look, which is open concept (all walls knocked down) and cement screed all the way (with exception of toilets) the kitchen originally had half height wall tiles, so they were knocked off and my contractor cement-screeded it, looks good and we like it. however, for the living room, it's just normal plain paint on the original hollow blocks (old hdb flat kind). we want it to be the same as the kitchen but my contractor said that it's not possible to 'paint' cement on the walls as they are too smooth and if we really 'painted' the cement on, it will crack and fall off after some time. anyone had any experience in painting the whole wall cement/cement-like finish? any alternatives we can use or anyone knows any contractors who knows how to do this? thanks!!
  2. icic.. mine is a 3-room flat so i thought since it's smaller it should be cheaper.. any recommendations for any good contractors who does demolition well?
  3. for the removal of debris part, there should be no charges incurred right? any good contractors to recommend for the above works?
  4. Hi all, Recently purchased a 30+ yr old 3room flat in original condition and would like to do some reno and go for the open-concept feel. My hubby and I are looking at $10k budget but those quotes we've received are too much higher than that. Here's a list of what we want: -Demolish existing flooring of entire unit -Demolish existing Kitchen and bathrooms wall tiles -Demolish existing kitchen sink and stove support -Demolish existing bedrooms, store room, kitchen and master bathroom hollow block wall -Dismantle existing kitchen cabinet -Dismantle existing bedrooms, bathroom doors and door frames -Dismantle existing window and window grilles -Dismantle sanitary ware & accessories for 2 Bathrooms -Supply & lay cement screed **** room, dining and bedrooms -Water proofing membrane for kitchen -Supply & lay homogeneous non-slip flooring at Main and Common Bathrooms -Water proofing membrane for 2 Bathrooms -refrigerator base -washing machine base -Make good all hacked walls and cement smooth -Re-wiring for entire unit Is $10k budget reasonable for these items? yet to include the costs of all the installations and furniture etc.. any recommendation for good and affordable contractors?
