    Thanks for reading my blog!

I had already pm u my contractor contact. Wish u good luck too...

  3. Your reno looks good! mind sharing your contractor's contact?

saw that you got your sofa from Wynn? how was their service after purchase and during delivery?

    Hi yokechye

I had pm u on my contractor's contact.

As for the service is not bad cos my office is pretty near furniture mall so I went up a couple of time to see the colors after I place the order and deposit, they also ok to entertain me.

Their delivery service also good, no rescheduling, prompt and on time.

So far I got no complain abt them..

they informed that they will need to come dismantle it and bring it back for repair. Though I'm glad that they are still responsible about this but this is causing me inconvenience, and their follow up service is really poor, I need to call them again and again to confirm when do they want to come... :furious:

  7. Hi Pinkwhale,

Stumbled upon your blog and I was very impressed with your ideas and renovation process. Your house looks great! its almost what I would be doing for my own place down the road in the future.

is it possible that you can share your contractor information and reno cost.? Would be grateful if you could pm me the details.

    Thanks! :)

    Hi chrisjaren

    Thanks for liking my place

    I had pm-ed you

  8. Oh I actually had the wrong perception!

I thought easi plaster is for rough surface only n smooth surface is cement screed. Didn't know it can be for both finishes.

What abt sealant? For both too?

A little confused here, hope u bear with me....

Our progress? Day 2, done with hacking n clearing. He just txt me that tiling starts tmr n electrician may be coming. I have not finalise my electrical plan yet!!!!!

K is getting popular, 4 houses concurrently! Hubby told him not to prioritise ours as we cannot cope with his pace! Plus we are not in a hurry to move in. Hahaha...

Actually K also never explain so much to me and he just use easi plaster for me cos he feel it is better. Only after my Reno started then I'm starting to think is easi plaster the brand of the cement powder? cos I see the big big word easi plaster infront of the bag.

K only told me easi plaster is better quality than those cement powder that those coffee shop floor use =.= and easi plaster color is lighter and also more expensive.

So all my cement screed smooth or rough is done by easi plaster powder.

As for sealant :- for my case only rough surface I do sealant and it feels good after the sealant apply, much cleaner and more complete look but the process of application is super horrible. When apply the sealant is like burning my wall and the wall becomes patchy black and as it drys it slowly turn back normal and finished with a tint of gloss on the wall and u can tell a protection layer had been applied.

As for my smooth cement, K tested the sealant on the underside of the bench first and the burning too happened but never subsided!!!! So.. He didn't continued and ask me to decide. So I opt without sealant since smooth surface no sealant also should look better.. More raw..

Ya.. He really very fast hor.. And his memory even better than me.. He can remember the details of my home better than me le haha.. Everytime I ask him qn with some wrong info he will scold me for confusing him hahaha...

Electrical planning very important oh.. I also didn't plan.. Then he plan for me and went ahead but in the end I felt I want more socket else where and some 2-way light switch then he got to call his electrician to come a few more times opps...

  9. I'll probably customize a shoe cabinet and bomb shelter feature wall. My house is quite dark so I will have to use very light wood colour. Your feature wall seems like a good colour with some wood grains on it so wanted to find out which laminate you had used. Can you share how much the feature wall cost? Thanks!

I had asked Defelio before and he informed his shoes cabinet laminate is from EDL, not sure did he mentioned the name maybe u can search the earlier post. That time I thought the laminate comes with the black line but then actually they are groove created specially so must be not cheap ^^

    Good luck... :)

  10. Hello Pinkwhale, :D

Would like to ask you regarding your living room ceiling fan and your cove light.

Do you experience any strobe effect with the cove lights on and fan on?

I'm intending to have a similar design for my living room but is worried about the strobe effect.

One of the ID I met said, when on the fan don't on the cove light. OxO if like that a bit redundant to have the inner cove light.

Would like to hear your opinion. :)

    Hi^^

    Thanks for dropping by again..

For my case won't have this problem cos my haiku fan had a drop down of 25cm so it is below the cove light. And I think the haiku fan is almost same height as my downlight so both cove light and downlight no problem for me.. Maybe my contractor calculated for me?? Or I'm pure lucky.. I was super worried also beforehand but my contractor keep telling me no problem no problem :)

Maybe u check the fan u buying if the stem height can be adjusted? If can then u can try to do it the same height as ur L-box then I think no issue cos cove light shine up and down light shine down... And of cos most important u must have enough clearance of at least IMO 50cm between fan and light. What do u think?

  11. I see... Will be doing easy plaster, like yours.

The PVC won't be exposed right?

I see.. Ur easi plaster will be smooth or rough finishes? My tv console is smooth while kitchen is rough..

No the PVC won't be exposed unless the cement got scrap off like I mentioned after sometime or knock into it. But can touch up one..

    So far how's ur progress?

  12. Hi pinkwhale,

we will be getting our house in Punggol as well but over the span of next few years.

Could you kind share with me the contact of your Contractor? I'm truly impressed by his dedication and workmanship!

    Your house looks great btw!

    Thanks!!

    I had pm-ed you !!

  13. Hi Pinkwhale,

Wanna check with you if you opted for a layer of PVC at the edge of the cement wall?

K asked if I want to lay the PVC for protection n smooth edge, but I cannot visualise how it'll turn out.

    Hi chergaby

Yes I opt for the White plastic edge straightening holder, K told me metal one will easily rust and staying punggol area I won't want to take the risk.

I do not have photos to show u now but basically this edge straighener will ensure u have a nice 90 degree straight edge.

But the only concern if u r doing smooth cement screed like my tv console, the cement screed is more weak and if u knock into it or after time the cement will come off abit and some of the white plastic will be expose especially the most sharp tip.. However u can also touch up urself by applying abit cement over it.

If u doing rough cement wall like my kitchen wall then I believe no such issues cos still can apply protection coat.

  14. Hi pinkwhale,

I am looking for honeycomb and black mosaic tile, could you share your tile shop address? Do you happen to know if they have black honeycomb tile as well?

Thank you. Hope to get your reply soon,

    Piknik.

    Hi Piknik

you also wanna use honeycomb tiles? :yamseng:

I bought mine from hup kiong at balestier beside hafary

as for the black square mosaic, my contractor order from his usual supplier in defu lane but they can be easy found, even hup kiong carry them just we are not ok with the price

I never see black honeycomb before, but i did see mixed black and white. now dunno they have any new arrival or not.

  15. Hi pinkwhale,

Thanks for your prompt reply...really appreciate it :D For the WIW i am more interested at the design. i went down to see Closet Design @ Balestier and they have quite some interesting concepts for racks for pants or towels. I am wondering if contractor is able to do all these if i show him the picture or should i buy those ready made design?

BTW how's your working experience with your contrator? Mind pm me whether the price charged by him is reasonable and the quality of his job. Sorry for so many noob questions here. Thanks in advance

    Hi caprichoo

My WIW do not have fancy designs inside, I did not ask for those pant rack or towel rack cos I feel those cannot put many things only for nice.

If u want towel racks if I'm not wrong they call it pigeon holes right? That one sure contractor can do cos it's just normal racks just u want it square or rectangle.

As for pants rack etc I'm not sure need to ask them, but if u buy and ask them to install then sure can la but u must buy early so that the carpenter can cater the wardrobe size according to ur racks..

As for working experience with my contractor I had also reviewed before maybe u missed that post. I would say I'm very happy and satisfied though we do have conflict of ideas some times and when that happened I post on renotalk to ask for advice and he will then accept my final decision. And most importantly he is responsive and responsible and he will keep u updated with photos and phonecalls. And even now if I tell him my lightbulb not lighting up he will also dropby to help me take a look as he is in the area (at paloma's house I guess)

Even he say if during housewarming someone break or spoil any area he will come back to touch up for me..

So far I really so not have any major complaint..

Price I feel is quite reasonable for all these services even drive me to the laminate factory in sungei kadut to see laminate and furniture hunting. Plus daily visiting to my house to check progress and update without me needing to take leave all the time. I had seen some friends/neighbor spending more than me by engaging ID but still need to supervise themselves and their ID only visit once a week.

As for quality I'm also quite happy.. So far the carpentry only came back once to touch up the silicon and one small pc laminate and nothing require any rectification again and again. And I also never encounter any mistake in carpentry where they need to bring back to redo..

    So... I'm a happy customer !!

  16. Hi Pinkwhale,

This is my first day joining renotalk and stumbled upon your t-Blog. Your reno looks amazing. I am on my way to collect my key in April and now still trying to read up all abt reno.

Would you mind sharing your contractor info and also your reno cost? I am also interested to do a WIW and wonder how much is it to built one? Can share more picture of your WIW?

you can email all these details to me if it is easier @ chowhing@gmail.com.

    Thanks for sharing. :D

    Hi caprichoo

Thanks for visiting my blog and liking my home. Welcome to Tblog and congratulation on getting ur keys soon. U must be so excited !!

I had pm-ed u the contacts and the cost of the WIW and just to share more it's bases on 19ft and without doors.

I'll try to take more picture the next time I go up but it's quite tough as the space is limited and the angle is not wide enough. Is there any particular part u want to see? Inside the WIW or outside? If inside any particular area like the L shape or which side so I try not to miss out. Plus now some clothings is in so maybe a little messy already haha...

  17. Hi Pinkwhale!

Your reno is so tastefully done!! Simply amazing & very nice!!

Could you share with me your contacts for your contractor? And can I also know how much and where you get your Haiku fan from?

    Thanksss..

    Hi pinkturtle,

I like ur name !! We r both pink sea creature haha

I got my haiku fan from universal union think at around $650 for black (if I remb correctly) but that is before the price increase. Now I think the white one already cost around $680 and black probably $780?

Will pm u for my contractor contact

  18. Oh actually we didn't hack our floor, that'll be too costly! The black mosaic is just to join the kitchen and living room tiles as there were bare patches after the kitchen wall was hacked.

Ya that time I choose to hack half wall for the kitchen to avoid impacting the floor but now seeing ur work.. I feel it's nice to do something to the floor too.. But urs is nice becos ur kitchen flooring is white too so super nice to have the black mosaic as contrast.. Mine is ugly brown kitchen flooring yucks...

  19. We monitor our progress very closely too. It's quite amazing to see how the house changes everyday! Oh haha, are you referring to Ah Meng and Ah Hua? Yes, they are very good at what they do, and they even come on weekends and public holidays to finish the job. I think they are still at our place. You can come to visit them if you wish :)

The ideas for the house is mostly from my fiance. He's definitely the creative one and has a better sense of design! We are also preparing for our wedding next month so it helps that he looks after the home reno and me the wedding. :)

Oh actually he's a newspaper photographer. I'm the one who's working from home, but I'm not a photographer! :)

Haha I miss ah Meng the most la.. He very cute and very hardworking and yup they work even on public holidays.. Make me super paiseh. Ah hua very quiet one so never tall much with him.. There is one ah tiong, but heard he no more working with the team? That guy also very crappy one and my kitchen whole countertop is done by him. That ah tiong is the one who do up ur kitchen leg as per ur photos..

Aiyo now weekdays le I seldom go up.. By weekend probably they gone liao. They drink the most coffee from me haha...

Congratulation on the coming wedding.. Must be so busy and excited at the same time.

Oh he is a press photographer.. Interesting !!
