  1. Hi I just bought a 4S flat & would like to check how much to pay for painting the whole unit? Due to no budget, if we plan to paint ourselves, what kind of paints n about how many we need? Or any suggestion of good n cheap painter?

for interior, any hi-gloss paint is consider good

  2. there suppose to be a strip of transparent rubber at the edge, which will prevent the door from moving to the other side. that rubber maybe spoilt after some time... sadly enough, i am facing the same problem but i cant get a replacement for it either

  3. you are right about the water soaking in part..... we were always careful when mopping floor and tried not too make the floor too wet for too long. but now with a maid, my ikea side drawers and small book shelf are affected.... :curse:

I guess it's a matter of selecting the suitable type of furniture for your lifestyle. One thing good about them, you are unlikely to get unsatisfactory customer service from them, they always entertain refunds with not questions asked.... :D

u can buy those soft wooden cork to be inserted at the bottom of the shelf and tables. just stick to the four corners can le... of course i go an extra mile by pasting adhesive verneer over it...

  4. hmmm... my ikea armchair (single sitter sofa), cost less than $100, is still kicking well after 2 years. my lacked table is the 2nd i am using, the first is gone after 3 years. it cost 12.90, which means i pay $3.90 for 1 year. my TV console is $25, a small black colour one i got this year. the wardrobe is usable after 3 years, but not that firm anymore, the small shelf was gone, after 4 years, which cost me about less than 50.

i would say that most of these, well can last long enough to cover my needs. infact, most of them are black in colour(i do paint some of them black myself, since i am rather good at DIY), as i love the exotic feeling in the past. some sort of work to enhance the durablity are done, like soft cork base are stick to the lacked table as i do know its base cant contact with water, some adhesive verneer to give extra protection and enrich colour. these arent expensive at all.

i am thinking of slowly changing some of the pieces of furniture that age going to die soon with newer ikea furnitures. and this time i prefer to have light brown woody colour. i am going to slowly replace them at time to come, and going to paint my room beige. this will give me a completely new style, and i would say, the price is fairly reasonable.

  5. I am offended. I am 8 months pregnant now and simply cannot clean a three storey house myself. I also do not think it will be fair for my maid to do so. Please consider the context before you make such insensitive comments.

hmm! i wonder whats the point for me to post " no offence" when u call my words "insensitive". Am i suppose to know u are 8 months pregnant? am i suppose to know that u live in a house so big an yet u cant just find a cleaner willing to clean it for you? please consider the context before u comment on me being insensitive

and i said a part time maid. maybe u dont get it, but there are a lot of people on the web that willing to clean the whole house for u provided u can pay them a good enough price, which shouldnt be of any problem for you. try to find on gumtree.

  6. stainless steel may rust, but depends... infact, first thing u should check if it is steel or stainless steel. stainless steel will still rust and suseptible to staining like previous poster said, as steel itself is an alloy. there are different grading to it. some can withstand longer, some cannot. some protection is only against watermoiture, if too much water still would rot. some is resistence against water, but not perfume or acid which maybe rather reactive. some like, SS316L is extremely resistence, shinny, high quality and expensive. 1 use of SS316L is to make jewellery, such as ring. go some silver shop and u will find them, they looks a bit different from silver rings, but the price are around the same.

if the problem is not very serious and u just want to have a better look of your sink, u can try to use brasso to polish your sink.

  7. seriously i never have any problem with ikea products at all. most of the furnitures can last 5 years at least, and usually 10 years. wondering whats the fuss with it, especially, will u know design get old easily so its good to keep changing. no point keeping a tv cabinet thats 30 years old and everyone feel its odd looking, old fashion and taking up space
