  1. I did my kitchen cabinet,full length shoe cabinet & 3 wardrobe at carpentry workshop in kaki bukit. paid $6000.00 which is cheaper then what the designer have quote me @ $9000.00. Never go to designer for carpentry work :dunno::no:

    Pls pm me at babyyshang@yahoo.com for your carpentry contact? Thanks! Urgent, my contractor went MIA

  2. Hi guys,

    I have personally contact Isiah's Contractor, I must say she is good and a responsible person. She bring me to view the house near thomson area(she is handling)

    and it is nicely done.

    But we did not get her to renov the house for us in the end. Reason being her quote is on par to another designer in Ubi( 9 Degree D*****)

    We thought that since the quote is about the same, we might as well take the designer. That is the beginning of our Nitemare!!

    We are suppose to move in before CNY 2012(starts Renov in Nov 2011) but we only managed to move in last week!! To cut the story short, the designer cannot even design the 3D and

    there is an office girl in charge of the drawings. He is always late, never pick up HP when there is trouble, over promised and worst he cannot even control his workers

    We need to constantly check on his work(our house). ALl these happens after we signed the contact!! Before that, he is very prompt and promise this and that.

    Please people out there DO NOT go to this company in Ubi. Or you will end up like me. Worry for 3 months and end up job still not nicely done!!!

    Hi all,

    We recently bought a resale flat and have plans to renovate these areas:

    1. Kitchen => tear down existing kitchen cabinets and built new ones. Redo a bit of the flooring.

    2. Common and master bedroom toilets => simple reno for common toilet and total overhaul for master bedroom toilet, we are extending the toilet out into the bedroom to make it bigger.

    3. Carpentry works in master bedroom and a bit in the living room

    We shortlisted a contractor and here is the quotation. Do you think it is reasonable or too expensive?

    Any items you would challenge the quote on or anything you'll advise us to cut down on to save some money?

    Bulk of the cost actually comes from carpentry....

    We are newbies in renovating a house, haha, and would really appreciate anyone who can advise us. Thanks in advance!!!

    It's time for contributing back to this forum after taking from this forum. hehe <img src="http://www.renotalk.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

    After searching up and down for renovation contractor (not ID). I finally landed with a good contractor, extremely satisfy with their workmanship. Though i will not give 10/10 but I will definitely give a 9.8 out of 10 for the quality, material and workmanship of my contractor.

    You see, for people out there looking for renovation, I don't see much different getting an ID and and a good contractor. The key thing is a good contractor, and I think for a good one, it's not so many out there. I am lucky for my case as I engaged with a good contractor with very very reasonable price and quality of work... superb ! (in fact, without saying it's a contractor work, some of my friend is asking me which ID firm i am actually engaged with).

    I shall be sharing some pictures of my renovation works later. thanks<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Thanks<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Hi, sgwong

    In my humble opinion, it is not the ID firm that matters. This is because there is always a mix of so called 'good' and 'bad' ID's in every firms, even in those renowned firms recommended by forumers here. Some IDs will take up the 'Sales' process, and once you inked the contract, it is handled by their project team.

    Also very important evaluation criteria is how well our ID has handled referenced projects for his customers, and the feedback on his service, his prompt follow up action & active project management, as well as our "click' factor.

    To my understanding, their office called me up in between our renovation to check on my ID's performance, getting feedback from customers to see where they can improve their service. <img src="http://www.renotalk.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

    So far, with a bit of luck & affinity, I am happy with the service my ID has provided and his dedication in taking care of the whole reno process.

    I have PM'd you his full contact details. Good luck to you if you are searching for ID / ID's firm. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)"

    Hi

    I really like your living area can you share or pm me your ID and how much you spend to renov the whole house?

    it's been hard to find a good and not to X company for renov, haha..

    But there is a lot of white cupboard, your wife will have a hard tidying the place, hehe.

    Thanks!

  10. er.. my honest opionion.. he is very experienced. He knows what to advise, eg. where to put sink, toilet bowl, heaters.

    Took his own initiative to install a inlet pipe for washing machine (if not have to just leave washing machine outflow pipe at waste)

    Their tiling works seems acceptable to me. Doesn't seem extremely out of line. Of course not perfect.

    House is yet to be handed to me yet, patch up work for skirting area is not properly done up yet.

    Thus i can't conclude he is all good or not.

    Will update when he officially cleans up house.

    Other then that.

    His price is really good. (Even after going to direct door installers or window/grill installers, i can't beat his price)

    His pace of work is really good. Concidentally our neighbour 2 units away started reno same time as us. They are approx. 50% slower, as i type now, they are still in the midst of doing their tiling works.) *My corner neighbour also said our contractor works really fast as compared to our neighbour's.

    It is very easy to communicate with Mr. Soo. Although he is chinese speaking mainly, he is very flexible. Not those grouchy old uncle sort.

    Hi,

    I have been searching for good contractor cos got bad experience in current house.

    I hoped my new house(Nov take keys) will be in good hands.

    Have contact few IDs but all quite X(around 30K - 40K).

    Therefore I hoped you can recommend me your contact, thanks

    Did he show you any 3D drawings?

    Cheers

  11. :sport-smiley-004: Went to Novena and finally decided to get our beds from them.

    1 Queen size and 2 super single size Four Star storage beds with mattress at a bargain price of $3130. Initially wanted to get from Beds.sg but it turned out that Novena is cheaper overall and Four Star's quality should be better. They even threw in some freebies for us. So quite a good buy, I felt. :good:

    Hopefully the delivery and installation will go well and on the date/time as fixed :bow:

    Hi,

    I understand that you mention you contact Mr Phang as Fengsui Master?

    So how much do you need to spend in total(buying of fengsui staff) because I thought of enagaging him as well.

    But some of my frens say he quite X but to me good is more important. Any major CHANGES to decor?

    And in the end which ID/contrator you use?

    Sorry for all the questions cos I am new.

    Can you give me some advise?

  12. <u><b>Day god-only-knows-what: occupants needed</b></u>

    So...

    For those who were wondering, the handover WAS on time! Yes, that, alongside training, was what was keeping me from coming online. All the shifting in, etc... my house is steadily becoming messier, and I'm longing for the days where there was absolutely NOTHING in the house! But too bad, unless I one day have so much money that I can buy a huge house where I can keep most rooms empty (hey, one can always dream)... in the meantime, my house will just have to serve its function as the place where Pinkhubby and I keep all our stuff.

    Pardon the messiness, we are still unpacking...

    Let's start with the foyer

    <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v521/yuene/Renovation/Foyerwcabinetandseating.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

    The shoe cabinet is in. We put it in the corner there because 1) behind the door, it keeps getting whacked. I don't want to cause a dent on my new things so soon! The seating bench next to it is actually one of our old pieces of furniture from IKEA. It served as our old TV/PC bench when the PC was still outside. Since it was too good to throw away, we saved it with this in mind.

    <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v521/yuene/Renovation/dining-1.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /

    Dining table is in too! We're going to purchase a matching piano-white seating bench for the times when we have guests over.

    <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v521/yuene/Renovation/Kitchcomplete.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

    Kitchen with the orange backsplash. Yes, the gas cylinder issue has been rectified, along with the pull-out basket.

    On to the study...

    <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v521/yuene/Renovation/studytablealreadymessy.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

    This is Pinkhubby's room (at least for now). Needless to say, it's already messy. We're going to get one more item from IKEA here, which is a white cabinet above. I'm very mindful of overloading that shelf. And that is HIS pink netbook there.

    <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v521/yuene/Renovation/studywdisplay.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

    The other side of the room holds his display cabinet, with his toys inside. The second shelf is filled with my collectibles.

    Hi

    May I know where you get the study table? Nice! Or custom make?

    May I know your contractor good or not? Cos I thought of getting good one.

    Thanks!

  13. Finally 3D design is out but however due to fengshui issue everything have to re-design again. <img src="http://www.renotalk.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bangwall.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bangwall:" border="0" alt="bangwall.gif" />

    After talking to the ID on the chages its his turn to headache and come out with a solution for me.... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

    Looking on the bright side things are not so bad at least some progress, just done our tiles selection today.

    Hi,

    New in, getting keys in NOV 2011

    So your ID is from summit? how much is your renov cos I got a quote from them but seems expensive. My ID told me that everthing has increased in pricing(2011).

    Do you mind talking me how much you renov for your house? N PM me your fengsui master can?

    thanks
