  2. you can get nice furniture from OM, just a little more ex than other furniture company. but... you get quality, nice design and best service ever! you can look up for jasmine, she gave me 25% discount...

my sofa is pu, but friends and relative thought its leather...

my dinning chair is comfortable enough, and is ordering 2 more...

if you can wait, lookout for their warehouse sale, last mth they had one! i bought mine last year august: dinning table 399, coffee table 149, buffet sideboard 318, chair 98... so its not ex at all!

Hey thanks for the useful information but pardon my ignorance, may i know where is OM? If possible, can you PM me the details of this place and the address? Thank you so much :yamseng:

  3. wee yoo wee! swee lah bro ...no wonder ur reno fees so high wor ...so much carpentry ...but it is really really spacious given that u did not hack down the wall between corridor room and living room ...

simply love ur door partitions ...hehe

Yah loh.. i prefer to do everything built in cos for such a small flat, its gonna be really difficult to buy furnitures which will fit nicely into the house. So thats the reason for the high price i pay. Even now i have difficulties finding a dining and coffee table which fits nicely. Got any lobangs or not to custom make at a good price?

  7. duro locks r ok.

last time i used to think like weishun, ez to open if i ve too many groceries but comes to safety, dun play play.

the safety lock, according to my uncle, is recommended by police oso.

so no harm in using both locks i guess. but abit troublesome rite, still muz open 2 locks?

You mean Duro locks are recommended by the police?

  8. Oic my uncle stay there too. Veri good location with alot of gd and cheap foods there and a famous place for Toto "Wang" place. :(

Err... I cant really comment hw safe there place is even my area in JW also nt safe now. :P To play safe use two locks first until u are veri familiar with the neighbourhood. Anyway not a big issue if you jus put down ur shopping bags to open the another lock. :dancingqueen:

Hehe... i have been staying in Chong Pang all my life. Only difference is that i moved from my parent's blk 109 to my new house blk 108. Hehehhe just one blk away nia. Can still see my parent's kitchen window from my kitchen window loh. Very familiar with this neighbourhood. :P Anyway i think i will try using two locks first then slowly monitor.

  9. I used the similar sparelock too. If the main lock is meant to be gd use for single hand so as for break in too. :(

But most impt is still ur neighbourhood enviroment lah. My suggestion is use both locks when nobody is at home, use only the main lock only when somebody is in the hse. :dancingqueen:

For me i'm staying near the market area in Chong Pang. Human traffic flow is very heavy, is this considered safe? Opposite me are shop houses and stores...

  10. Hehe i thought so too, but you see ah.. The purpose of using this lock is for convinience, its more of a one handed operation. For example, you are carrying lots of groceries and want to get into the house quickly. This is where the lock comes into good use, you just need one hand to unlock the lock rather then put everything down and then use both hands to fiddle with the lock. Heheh

After listening to gingerbelle's experiences, was abit disheartened over the lock. Cos Duro is a good brand and after learning that the lock can be easily removed, i'm beginning to worry bout the safety of my home. So whats your opinions guys? Anyone using this particular lock? Care to share your experiences?

Carpentry work has been carried out for my kitchen today. So far they only managed to wall mount the cabinets. Some parts of the cabinets have not been completely mounted yet. For kitchen cabinets, we adopted the floating design with lightings under the cabinet for a floating feel. Here are some pictures on the progress.

  12. hey weishun.. hehe hearing u say this reminds me of the excitement and anticipation me and hubby felt when renovating our house :dunno:

cant wait to see your completed home. do post lots of pictures!:notti:!!

I just came back from my place. Stopped by while walking home just now since its just opposite my parent's blk. The carpenters are still working on the cabinets. Think will drop by again to take picture when the carpenters leave. Stay tuned! Pictures will come in tonight.

yup yup ! post more pics of ur very bold house ! hehe

Yup.. hehe will do so. Pictures will come in tonight. I too also wish to see the end product the sooner the better.

  13. Hooray!! Today is Friday and carpenters are arriving today with my kitchen cabinets. Courts will then be delivering my home appliances on the 30th of this month. Hopefully my kitchen will be ready by then to house my washing machine and fridge which are the two main biggest appliances in my house.

  14. hehe waiting to see ur completed hse bro!:dunno:

feeling happy already leh ...can smell the "moving house" air liao hor??haha

Yah man.. hehe the smell of fresh paint really making me more and more gan chiong to move in leh. Dun worry bro, i will post more pictures very soon. Next week carpentry work starting liao. So do expect alot of pictures coming in. Cheers!

  15. the ceiling in my study room is gonna be black... will go take some pics this wkend and show u guys...

if u nuts over black/grey, then me n my hubby must b super crazy... in every room there will b black walls... including the living room...

Hahah black walls leh.. too hardcore for me liao lol but would really like to see pictures of your house soon. :(

Anyway some updates for you guys. Tomorrow they are going to complete the 2nd layer painting for my house followed by installation of carpentry works this following week. :) Sit tight guys!

  16. Yes i agree that since we are PAYING for our reno, we have every right to demand certain things...but too late le lah...we dun wana go and think abt the reno anymore so just leave it as it is lor....i had wanted a part of my ceiling painted in another colour to create that kind of "floating" effect.....we wouldn't want to do it for the entire ceiling. I agree with you that if the whole ceiling is painted dark, there will be a "suppressed" feeling...

Yup yup. Then see when you free or what.. maybe take 1-2 days leave and self paint the ceiling loh. Hehehe can be quite fun doing the paintings yourself you know.

  17. same same..i wanted my ceiling to be black or dark grey but ID and HB refused. maybe they think me nuts over black/grey liao...but i do regret not doing it lei...:P

Hehe since its just the ceiling, its always not too late to get it repainted to your desire colours. Dun regret.. just do it. Trust me.. it makes a whole lot of difference leh.

  18. Wow! Lightings really make a lot of diff! Nice! :P

U had your ceiling in dark grey too? I had wanted to paint my ceiling in a diff colour cos I think it has a very strong visual effect when ceiling is in a diff colour..adds more dimension to your house...unfortunately my ID couldn't do it saying that the ceiling paint is standard white and cannot order a small paint just to paint the ceiling....:notti:

May I know which dark grey you used? Love your cream walls too!

Yeah... i wanted my ceilings partially in a different colour to create a spacy visual effect. For painting of the ceiling, you have to push your ID one. For me i die die want it to be done, so ID kinda lan lan have to do.. lol. One thing, dun ever paint your entire ceiling. small parts can but leave majority of it white if not it will make your house look very restricted.

For the colours i have to ask my ID for the colour code then get back to you leh bro.

ID told us that ceiling shd be in white cos make your ceiling appear higher...but i think a few areas with coloured ceiling is quite visually stunning.....haiz....too bad he couldn't do it....too practical ID :dancingqueen:

This is what most IDs will say to save themselve from extra work. In my own opinions, if its something we wan, our IDs should accomodate us rather then his own thoughts.
